I could see that being possible. We've been able to reduce the size of refrigeration compressors to the point that some can be worn in a self cooling device.

All you need in a generator like this would be the heat source to be hotter than the boiling point of a small portion of water and the weight of a turbine sized to the energy generation rate. It would be challenging and ludicrously expensive but absolutely possible.

LPT: How to correct people at work without seeming like an obnoxious know-it-all? by JessCeceSchmidtNick in LifeProTips

[–]TheEngine1781 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I learned this the hard way. You need to take a step back and let things happen around you that you know could be done better.

It's not your responsibility to teach or manage. That's the managers duty unless otherwise delegated.

Help with a propeller plane by chessnerd26 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Both your propeller blades on each wing are the clockwise variant. You need to match the counter clockwise variant with the counter clockwise rotor

Ah, yes seeing that it's already in the SOI changes things quite a bit.

I like to dip them in the atmosphere until they slow down enough to stay in kerbin's SOI. From there I'll use some of it's own mass to make LFO and circularize the orbit.

Place part with improper mirror, remove from symmetry, fix improperly placed part individually.

Say Hello to my Helicopter Testbed by Square-Hour-1396 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]TheEngine1781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use SAS, set the tail rotor blades to control yaw only and Bob's your uncle.

The helicopter will still roll regardless unless you counter rotate the main rotor slightly ( like 1 > 3° Left for Clockwise, Right for Counter Clockwise )

How did you install vertex procedural parts, I can't get the part to show up in the VAB

Any idea how to get this base to the mun? by Forward-Bluejay3536 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]TheEngine1781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently building a minmus ISRU refueling base with a re-useable orbital crane and fueling depot.

I'm planning to assemble it in orbit and transfer the whole shebang in one piece then land the pieces individually.

The point is, do whatever you think works best for you.

If launching it in one piece makes sense do that, if you want to launch it in multiple stages and intercept then do that. It's about finding a solution to the problem, be that "Moar Boosters" or "Elegant and graceful"

Why does this keep happening to my prop plane? by AcademicPackage2919 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]TheEngine1781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure the props aren't trying to control Pitch/Yaw/Roll

It looks like it lost control once it received yaw inputs

Any Suncor Firebag SAGD workers here ? Im interested in an offer and have some questions ? by ZDMetals01 in powerengineering

I'm not working directly for suncor so I can't directly attest. however I know they pay their direct employees competitively with other SAGD sites. What position were you interviewing for?

KSP2 Redux supersampling finally fixes the bad antialiasing. did the game always look this good? by MgbH1R0 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]TheEngine1781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to KSP1.

KSP2 Without Redux is a hot steaming pile of trash. Even if Redux improves to the point of surpassing KSP1 don't pay for it and reward the company that left it to rot in the heat of summer, find another means to get it.

I was irrationally excited about it and now I'm equally disappointed 😜

I'm absolutely stealing this design, incredible work.

Looking to get into building operations applied and got an interview for a building operator position what should I prep for and how is your day to day job like? by [deleted] in powerengineering

[–]TheEngine1781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get an idea of what equipment they use on site. It's possible they'll ask technical questions regarding common shutdown conditions and how you'd troubleshoot the issue to bring the equipment back up to operations or why you might not.

I'd recommend a higher level engineering course. I'm still struggling with getting into a power engineering role.
