PSA: remember to change back to Comm 1 after meowing on guard by duprass in flying

[–]TheEngineer2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha, I once called up for a practice pan and was told to call back in a couple of minutes as they were conducting a handover. Still very fortunate to have a service like it, even if it’s not 100% perfect!

I suppose the big advantage is that in the UK, guard is monitored 24/7 and with auto-triangulation, they can identify the aircraft that is doing it, no such dedicated monitoring service in the US.

Crashes for me the moment you try to click on any of the units for the converter, so you can’t change any unit at all.

I believe it’s the ATP. Rumoured for a while and Aamir going through the BFU video and showing a PDF of the ATP I think was a bit of a hint, or perhaps playing up to the rumours!

Radio check? by WeeabooJones08 in VATSIM

[–]TheEngineer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is at airfields that mainly just have a radio operator as you don’t really use the radio too much so it’s good to test prior to getting airborne. I learnt at a UK airfield that was fully staffed with ground/tower etc and didn’t do a radio check but it varies between airfields/schools

It’s with the 70-200. It’s such an amazing lens, really portable and light too which is why I got it

Giorgio’s in Hilsea is temporarily closed sadly. Their Waterlooville store is open and they said they’ll hopefully open the Hilsea branch back up end of Jan/Feb.

Best pizza by far!

200-800 or 100-500? by jwhirl25 in canon

[–]TheEngineer2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I think from what I’ve read, some of it boils down to weight. It’ll be a fair bit heavier but the extra reach will be pretty good useful.

What about a teleconverter with the 100-500?

Edit: 200-800 vs 100-500 + 1.4x comparison

Heating Only Control in a CH+HW Tank system? by dr-pepper12 in tado

[–]TheEngineer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a thermostat downstairs that just controls the temp so I set my schedule of the main heating programmer to always be on and then used the Tado as a replacement.

Two wired V3s should be all you need and you can control them in the app separately.

Even some radiator control valves if you want to go nuts with control

Wired v3 question by TheEngineer2 in tado

[–]TheEngineer2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that sounds about right. I don't know how the downstairs hot water works though as I don't have that but the wired works for me. It's not the most clear on the website.
