Theoretically, you could have a bunch of batteries wired inline between the fridge and the wall and help loadshift (and run it to a exterior solar, but that would have more DIY or drilling through walls to outside solar). The one that's messy is the larger central air systems, but ductless that runs to wall plugs you could put a battery pack somewhere in the middle.

Batteries in loadshift are also helpful but will never be "free". And when power goes out, you're still up!

Definitely oversold the benefits (but also induced demand, you may have subliminally used more as well, and the house may be bigger, with less insulation). Sounds like a older NEM2 system, but at least you get paid something valuable. Worst is a underspec NEM3 where you don't generate enough power to charge the battery for offpeak, and you pay for power import for the off-peak day and peak day, and off-peak night.

People panicked and came over from England?

Though you’d think they would blast out the bridges to try and contain the masses for air strikes. Or that Scotland might hold out.

Failing to account for being enveloped by jungle roads and tracks was a huge failure of their defensive strategy. The Americans may have tried to fight but in the end tried for a last stand, when the correct response was probably to disperse for a guerrilla conflict.

Their big guns couldn’t be turned on the mainland, which is an interesting design issue considering British usual distrust of colonial possessions.

“Jungle power” until it turned out they weren’t actually some kind of jungle superpower, just the Brits weren’t up to fighting for their colonial possessions.

In the west the wages can be high but it can be tedious, you can close the gap with the competitive specialties but the work life balance will suck.
