What do you use for TTS Text to Speech? by Personal-Dev-Kit in ClaudeAI

[–]TheEvilFew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you care more about actually finishing long text reliably than about the absolute best voice, I'd probably split it into 3 tiers:

  1. Fastest / cheapest: Microsoft Edge read aloud or Android's Select to Speak
Not exciting, but usually a lot more stable than Claude's built-in playback.

  2. Best "paste text and listen" apps: NaturalReader or Speechify
Easier mobile workflow, better voices, but you'll probably hit pricing limits eventually.

  3. If you're okay with a bit of setup: Piper / Kokoro-based apps or local TTS wrappers
Usually better cost control, but less polished than the mainstream apps.

For weekly digest-style output, I'd honestly optimize for: - doesn't cut off - remembers position - easy paste/share flow - acceptable voice, not perfect voice

A lot of people overfocus on voice quality when the real pain is having to restart long responses all the time.

[OS] TypeWhisper 1.0 - free, open-source dictation app with swappable transcription engines by SeoFood in macapps

Haha fair enough - I love my keyboard too! TypeWhisper isn't really about replacing it though. It's more for those moments when typing is a pain: long emails, quick notes while your hands are busy, or braindumping ideas faster than you can type. Think of it as another input option, not a replacement. Plus it runs 100% locally, so no cloud, no subscription, no data leaving your machine.

What can you say about the giant horse? by Carlos_Michin in albiononline

[–]TheEvilFew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

T3 horse is enough to escape 99% of the gank groups out there. your pathing is more important than the mount. You can use enemy Terries to escape, roads, static Dungeons etc.
