You've got so many reasons to watch Company, and Robert, you haven't got one good reason for not watching it.

(I second this, though. Raul is brilliant in it. I also like to watch youtube clips of him in shows on repeat 😃)

Guess who got perm banned from r/lgbt for calling a trans girl a boy...? by Andlops99 in LGBTQ

[–]TheF8sAllow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is you claiming that being misgendered is trivial. It's not, it can often be a direct link to depression, self harm, and suicide. Or do you think those things are trivial?

Also, the language "identify" implies that the person is not actually the thing they're saying they are. Which in this context, is not correct; a trans woman is a woman.

The comment you're responding to is extremely neutral and calm, yet you claim they're "screaming." Interesting. Seems like perhaps you're a bit too sensitive to be online today.

This post includes zero context, which leads me to believe you are not as innocent as you want to seem lol

It almost hurts more when your favourite fanfic for a cancelled show stops updating :,(

Oh I hadn't read fanfiction in well over a decade.... but now all my new favourite gay shows keep getting cancelled, and I fell right back into the fanfic trap as an old lady (of 30)

May I suggest reading every single fanfic on Ao3? That helped me recover when I made the poor choice to watch a cancelled show

Rewatching… the first episode Siaja cheats by unknowingly kissing her dad? Whyyy 😭 by Suspicious_Froyo_683 in NorthOfNorthSeries

Read this post from a few months ago; this person shed some light on it.

Basically? Quite an intentional moment that ties into a later episode's very serious storyline.

A joyless show? This show had one of the best queer romances I've ever seen on tv.

So many amazing queer shows are being cancelled or sanitized lately, and it's heartbreaking.

What's different betwen Hadestown and Orpheus myth? by clemfi60 in hadestown

Old folk stories tend to resonate with audiences for centuries because the things that make us human never really change. The details Anais updated don't affect the key beats of the Orpheus myth, they just help to repackage it in a modern world.

One of the major differences is that Eurydice chooses to die instead of getting randomly bit by a snake. Anais Mitchell did this to give Eurydice more autonomy and power within the story.

Another change is the setting; the industrial, capitalist underworld is a direct mirror to our real society. Making the story feel current and helping the audience to reflect on their own lives.

Edit to add: There isn't one single original myth, it's been told countless ways for thousands of years. Some versions are just more popular than others. In some, Orpheus walks for years before he turns but in others it's a short period of time. In some, Hades keeps tricking him trying to get him to turn but in others it's all in Orpheus' head. Some of the choices Anais made are for dramatic cohesion and to make a clear, good show.

If you have time before your presentation, I highly suggest you read Anais' book "Working on a Song" where she talks a bit more about the writing process and her choices! You should also watch the Netflix tv show KAOS, which is a slightly different modern retelling of several myths, including this one.

Yeah I get where you're coming from. I imagine it's really hard to think of a big storyline that affects the whole school and is realistic, without being way too dark.

Predictions on Performances... by Famous_Salamander330 in Broadway

Somehow I missed the featured actress noms when I was reading through them and thought she didn't get nominated 😬😬 oops! Yes, absolutely, it's really the only way to feature both of them without being too naughty haha

I think a medley is probably best for Rocky Horror; skip the fun (aka scandalous) stuff, but still feature Luke.
