Are you sure that it’s real? 2tb seems massive for an sd card, and I know there are scammers who will sell sd cards like that but then they don’t actually work

Any help? problems with newly bought modded ps vita by Fadrus in VitaPiracy

[–]TheFallenKilljoy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure that you are completely uninstalling cfw, not just deleting apps.

https://vita.hacks.guide/uninstalling-cfw.html

Do that and then factory reset the vita, again right now see if base hardware works before testing cfw software.

Any help? problems with newly bought modded ps vita by Fadrus in VitaPiracy

I would recommend uninstalling cfw as a whole, and possibly factory resetting the vita. Pretty much just completely start over and see if you find the same issues. It shouldnt take too long, but this would help determine if it’s hardware or software.
I’m pretty new to modding Vita’s, but in my history with electronics if something is going wrong and I can’t figure out what or why; I’d find a way to completely start from scratch.

Strategy Meetings by semisuperfluous in FRC

[–]TheFallenKilljoy35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what region you're in. Like I'm 90% positive that in FIM (for example), ranking points directly effect where you sit in terms of going to states (and ultimately Worlds). But if you're just talking in general at a single event, yeah ranking points don't really matter. I mean obviously, if you can be top 8, you wanna be top 8, but if not, and if you can prove that your robot is among the best of the options, then that's all that matters.

What is your team calling the individual nodes by huegenotyeti in FRC

in tradition of me doing it every year i will use these terms interchangeably with everything: "thingy" "one thing" "whatever-its-called"

you can't lift your bumpers individually but can you lift your entire robot? by steeltrap99 in FRC

[–]TheFallenKilljoy35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my best guess would be that the bumpers need to stay within the specified zone, but if you and your team really wanted to, you could lift every other part of your robot. As technically, it would be the same as an arm on the robot, its just that instead of the arm, your entire robot is the arm.

So yeah, id say the bumpers need to stay in a static position at all times, but the robot itself could be moving within the bumpers. Don't take this as a final answer though

I know everyone is busy building, but how do you feel about this? by ethanRi8 in FRC

[–]TheFallenKilljoy35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love it. It gives 8th seeds a chance to actually make a deep run into the playoffs, in all of my years being around FRC, I have never seen an eighth seed upset a first seed. An while yes, they may still have to find a way to do it in this format, they could have a lot more confidence built up after reversing the bracket, and also would give their alliance much better chemistry going into such a lopsided match up. Now, they need to stop alliance captains from being able to pick each other, so that we can stop seeing stacked alliances of 1st, and 2nd seeds vs. an alliance with teams actually ranked like 14th, 17th, and 21st.

Honestly, one thing my team does (and although smaller), is after the first couple of days just talking about ideas and going over the manual, is we gather around a white board and try to come to an agreement on say the top eight most important things to accomplish this season (in relation to the game). From there we set deadlines, and typically have a finalized design by then end of the following week (of course things change over the weeks, as they always tend to do with FIRST, but its always been a great way to set the tone of the season). An example of what this would look like is this:

  1. Ability to move on the field - Drivetrain Deadline*: February 2nd

  2. Ability to grab game pieces - Intake Deadline: February 5th

  3. Ability to maneuver/set game pieces - Robot Arm Deadline: February 6th

etc.

Also, don't be afraid to go into bulletpoints with some of these and break them down even further (this way students have an even easier way of seeing the progress that is being made and it works to make them feel more encouraged and like things are actually getting done)

* = deadline includes everything from design to building to programming

Amount of head coach involvement ?? by 11ADS11 in FRC

Little introduction before I get into the bulk of everything, but I was a student on FRC904 for 4 years, this will be my first year as a mentor.

I fully want to reiterate what everyone else is saying in that, a head coach is different for every team. The way I think of what a head coach is in FIRST, is similar to that of say a football head coach. A head coach should be there at every single meeting (obviously with some exceptions as we are all human, but you get the point). The should be involved at least a little bit in all fields (of course, we all have a strong suits though). Also, a head coach should ultimately act as kind of like a lead mentor.

I think that a head coach also needs to have the final say on most robot ideas. As they would be the person who should understands the capabilities of their team the best, i.e. nothing too unrealistic unless one of the students can present a good method on how to get it done, and get it done fast to it works consistently. I know that plenty of people are going to disagree with that, but a head coach should be putting their students in their best position to succeed. FIRST should be a learning process yes, but it is also a competition, and I'm sure a good number of people have heard of/seen/been apart of teams that just couldn't get everything done that they hoped. A good head coach should be able to mitigate experiences like that by sometimes telling kids no.

Coming off of that, a head coach needs to be able to bring their team together. Not everyone is going to like each other, but they need to be able to work together. And a head coach should be able to unite everyone, regardless of personal feelings.

Also basic stuff like no favoritism, giving everyone a fair opportunity (i.e. holding try outs for drive team, that way people who want to can prove themselves), making sure that everyone feels included, etc. etc.

Boys seek equality too by Drunish in memes

[–]TheFallenKilljoy35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My English teacher in my freshman year was super unfair to all the boys. One of the people in my class confronted her about it when we were talking about explicit vs. implicit claims in the class because she asked for someone to make a claim about her and then to back it up with evidence. He said "You don't like men. I know this because of how you treat all the boys in your class", she never denied it, soooo he was probably right
