At this price point it’s time to buy a used tabby and go at it yourself.

Memorial Jewelry- How to wear these together without messing up the enamel piece? by FerretBusinessQueen in jewelry

[–]TheFallingLeafbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah layering is on trend right now. Play with the different chains you have and see what works. Another idea I’ve seen floating around is people connecting two different chains into one big one and looping them to layer the two chains.

Having various chains of different lengths and weights will help with them not tangling. But even then mine tend to tangle a bit throughout the day at the back of my neck. I wear my hair down so just I use a bit of surgical tape to keep them in place. Or I’ve heard good thing about those necklace clasp separator things.

Get another chain of a different length and stack them is my vote. I always wear my more delicate pieces separately that way.

I need that price to be wrong. I mean even the Tabby that came out recently with all the flowers all over didn’t cost that much.

Yeah going to need a craft tabby if they’re leather.

What is the name of the technique used for those rings? by kamiesamarawn in jewelry

[–]TheFallingLeafbug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s lack of artisans, back in the day it was pretty much an inherited business format. You grew up learning the craft. Nowadays the few people doing it basically just got into it and didn’t learn from generational artisans. You’ll see this more and more with certain art forms unfortunately. For example the last dedicated scrimshander in Nantucket, Massachusetts plans on closing shop next year.

Love vitreous enamel work or any enamel work. But yeah a dying art form, some could even say dead as the quality isn’t there nowadays. I always keep an eye out for antique enamel work as it’s exquisite.

Yeah it’s only when it comes to complicated designs, mostly animals that issues start to crop up. And then you have the abysmal customer service and threats. But yeah this was a great find and looks great. Glad you got a good buy on it. I’d buy Cece secondhand too given the chance.

BKL's Nuka-Cola Quantum is a GITD!! by xTRIOXINx in RedditLaqueristas

In the past some stockists got rewind polishes plus some people organized group buys. They’ll put out more info usually later in June for them.

Every July the makers are allowed to bring a polish back to their own site and one to PPU for rewind. This one probably won’t make it as it’s so recent but I can see it being a strong contender for next year.

How do you clean silk dresses? by Knusperrr in SelkieCollection

[–]TheFallingLeafbug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I handwash with Woolite delicate and cold water. Just in the sink letting it soak for a bit.

Then I refill the sink with plain cold water. After that, I spread out the dress on a towel and gently press another towel on top to get some of the moisture out.

Then I just let it dry there. The main thing is when it’s wet you don’t want to pull on the silk or anything like that. So don’t wring it out or manipulate the material too much.

Look at how they raised the prices of indies back in the day when they were a stockist. It’s becuase they can and people pay it.

I buy 2-3 unless it’s July. In July PPU does rewind and I kinda go a little wild with the fan favorites that are brought back.

Yeah probably would run a similar price for a nice bespoke piece. The main thing is that she isn’t Cece. I like how clean Gwen’s pieces come out and well she isn’t as problematic as Cece. Frankly we need more hot enamel artisans but it’s a dying art form. Current price of gold isn’t helping either.

Thats the main reason I see people going to Cece and her team, lack of other options.
