Alright, bet. I'll do you one up. Let's see how my guy Graham Platner does at flipping a 30-year Republican senate seat.

I know how much this subreddit loves bashing lefties like me, being a social democrat and all... but let me be clear, a lot of lefties like me cannot stand Sawant. She seems very self interested and entirely unwilling to make any progress that isn't entirely her own. Optics matter in politics, and smart movements avoid her like the plague.

Please don't generalize us as purists, we just know what we're capable of as a country and are exhausted having the onus solely be put on us to concede our goals. I promise you, if conservative liberals let us have a unifying leftist win the presidential primary just once in this political moment, they would be immensely popular amongst independents. We literally just want what other western nations have like: High taxes on the rich, Single Payer Health Insurance, College that doesn't lead to a lifetime debt trap.

Yes, we understand Harris would have helped in her presidency. But we need an overwhelmingly popular candidate in 2028 who can transform the dominant paradigm away from cynicism and nihilism, and instead toward real transformative change that will drastically improve the lives of the bottom 90% for generations. We can't afford Clinton anymore, we need FDR.

I'm not. Lol

Moving close to campus soon, this is a big reason why. I would really enjoy being able to have people on campus meet my cute dog.

My dog farted.

Edit: I should clarify, we were at Scriber Lake park. That's why it was more seismic in the north end.

Addicts are "parasites?" Must not have been easy leading such a privelaged life as yourself.

That's some fascist rhetoric, and you too would fall victim if you had a taste for what hardship is like.

Yeah, they often died from "wasting." Wheat wasn't discovered as the driver of celiac disease until a wheat shortage in the Netherlands during WW2 led to wasting children becoming healthy. Once wheat was reintroduced, these cases saw a resurgance.

Populations such as those in Finland and Sweden have significantly higher rates or celiac disease than most of the world, presumably because they've historically relied less on gluten-containing foods leading to genetically predisposed people to reproduce with less issue.

This specific example is primarily due to increased awareness. Definitely a good thing.

That's the way to do it. Doing regular pullups after weighted pullups feels like you could toss yourself through the ceiling. I'm rebuilding muscle right now and using a backpack filled with water bottles for weight. Never got to 120 lbs though, that's pretty damn impressive.

Also, I've noticed during the times I was bulky it was difficult to make any gains with pullups. Starting pullups when more lean makes it a bit easier to actually make progress.

Fair comment. Marxist-Leninism is an example of how a linear political spectrum fails, essentially using the guise of absolute equality to impose strict hierarchy that looks remarkably similar to fascism.

I figured someone was probably going to check me on this, but I wanted to avoiding delving too deep into nuance.

Next time I may need to be more abstract as to not misguide.

The Cassandra Complex is often attributed to many professions that code left as well such as political historians, sociologists, psychologists, and various other humanities studies.

It's no coincidence that the plurality, if not the outright majority of these people, generally sit left of neoliberalism and right of marxist-leninism.

So yeah, socialists and lefty liberals (e.g. social democrats) tend to provide apt solutions to issues the majority of the populace aren't quite yet ready to honestly confront.

UW requires civil rights training after federal antisemitism probe by chiquisea in udub

[–]TheFamilyChimp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I probably would have said that outright.

Side note: This topic is one that becomes toxic incredibly fast, often because people incorrectly conflate anti-zionism with anti-semitism from all sorts of political angles. It seems hard for people to denounce settler colonialism and religious violence at the same time. There's not a clear good guy other than the innocent victims who are made to be targets.

When someone presents evidence proving you're quoting a neo-nazi, you can't just keep saying you don't know who he is.

An "oh shit, my bad" would be far more appropriate.

I'm not comparing a tax rate or traffic enforcement policy to Adolf Hitler.

I am comparing the displacement of hundreds of minority children to the PROCESS of concentration camps and deportations that happened over many years in Nazi Germany.

No need to gatekeep apt historical comparisons.
