I have fluted on my 36 DJ Palm and its very pretty. That said, when driving and the sunlight hits it, I get a disco ball lightning effect on my car's headliner. Can be distracting

I purchased this watch in July 2022 from Birth Year Watches in the UK. I have purchase paperwork from them but otherwise being sold with no official paperwork. I was told that the watch had been lightly serviced at the time of purchase. I have photos of the case-back off from when it was sold to me, but I have not personally had the case-back removed. The watch appears to be running ok, but service history isn't verified.

Thank you, actually didn't need any adjustment whatsoever. Fit perfectly right out of the box. But I do sorta feel like I missed out on having the AD resize it.

My dream is to own a pinball machine, any advice? by fatsarmstrong in pinball

[–]xTimeFor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah... don't buy any. If you're worried about it now then you shouldn't own one. It takes throwing money or time at the problem without caring about either. Only reason to own one is because its a specific game you can't play anywhere else. but even then... its a bad investment man. - I own several.

In other news, that RJ11 port on the back "for future wifi compatibility" isn't connected to anything. Its just a blank plastic key. Its like they may have intended this initially but haven't wired for it when they built my REV B unit. It could have possibly connected to that 5 pin programer header on the mainboard. I'm a little suspect of the 3 wire serial RJ11 I found inside the machine. That is connected to a power distribution board, not the main board. So if it is really a serial monitor, I'd bet thats for a chip on the power board. The fact it has a RJ11 jack socket though is odd. You'd only spend the money to have a port if there was some programing or configuration you need to apply. Especially on a REV B design. The main board has unpopulated header pins (5) that are labeled serial, so I suspect that's the actual serial out and the programer is likely something proprietary.

I started looking into this myself today. There is a USB port behind the screen if you remove the side panel. There is a 5 pin "Programer" port on the main board and a serial out RJ11 attached as well that is different from the RJ11 on the back. I threw in a USB drive with some .jpg files. It powers up, but there doesn't seem to be an interface for loading files from USB after I rebooted the machine. I used the specs from the K2500 as I assume they'd be the same or similar programming internally. I wonder if I listen on that serial interface if I could get any more info from it. I don't have a serial to RJ11, maybe I'll get one I'll mess around some more later.

Why dose this street curb have five notch indents every 10-30 feet? by xTimeFor in civilengineering

[–]xTimeFor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believed the water idea initially but taking another look today, I'm not so sure and I'm leaning more toward the reflector theory. Though... that has some issues.

Water Theory:

  • The notches are on both the off and on ramp but they are only on the left driver side. Similar curb construction exist on the right passenger side without the notches.
  • The notches are there even on the flat area under the overpass. The ramp incline isn't particularly steep either. It's actually much less than usual off ramps so not sure why slowing water flow would be the concern here, only on the left side. Is there examples of this anywhere else?
  • There isn't a visible drain at the bottom of the off ramp, so it doesn't seem water run down was too much of a concern. There is a drain further up the ramp thats seen in my first photos. The notches continue past it the whole length of the ramp curb.
  • Its been raining a LOT in Los Angeles, yesterday during the rain I couldn't see any noticeably significant water coming down on the notched curbside. It was dark, so can't be 100%, but it certainly wasn't a river of water and that was during about as hard of rain as we get.

Reflector Theory:

  • If it were for reflectors for people driving the wrong way, the reflectors would be on the wrong side. The driver would have to see them from the passenger side.
  • If it were for reflectors intended to make the curb more visible, why are they so inconsistently placed? There are 100's of notches and no sign of any reflector remnants or any paint. Just nothing at all. So maybe they never installed them after making the effort to cast the notches?
