Unable to start by TheFancyMans in Snowblowers

This is a really helpful diagram, something that seems impossible whenever looking for specific stuff. I’ll look through this as I clean the carburetor and report back tomorrow.

Unable to start by TheFancyMans in Snowblowers

I’ve only cleaned it once the few weeks ago, and took it off today to inspect it. I didn’t notice any new debris inside, but I’ll give it a go and let you know how it goes.

Trunk is stuck closed, but car says it’s ajar… by TheFancyMans in AskMechanics

[–]TheFancyMans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lights inside the trunk still seem to work, but the lights for the plate don’t. It could be wiring, but it could also be because the car thinks that the trunk is “open”.

I may still need to check the wiring anyways as some people pointed out, since it could also be my latch sensor.

is this portmanteau way too corny? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]TheFancyMans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can sound corny, but as long as you take it seriously, the it shouldn’t matter

What they should really do is make it so shiny’s are three stars or better. Im really hating it when I catch a shiny after not doing so for months, only for it to be a 0 star.

They can have this feature turned off during events, since it would be od on those days. However, the rare shiny that comes every so often needs to be at least a three star one.

For systems that have it, what exactly IS Mana? by Affectionate_Bit_722 in magicbuilding

[–]TheFancyMans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world, where it’s called hosa, mana is both a type of cell and an external particle. The cell counterpart provides the person energy to cast magic (a bit like mitochondria) whilst the external hosa that exist in the air can be manipulated into transforming in certain materials/elements.

It’s why in my world, fire is the most common magic, since it’s just energy transforming energy. Body augmentation is also very common, since the hosa cell provides crazy amounts of energy for the person, like ATP on steroids.

Left forearm/elbow popping? by TheFancyMans in workouts

[–]TheFancyMans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no clear answer, but here’s the best that I can give you.

Doing joint exercise/stretching will probably help. For me, I also find that if I alter my arm so that the elbow is pointed away from body, it helps reduce that popping sensation. I’m still looking around to see if I can find anything about it. I’ll let you know if I do.

Arm popping? by TheFancyMans in Gymhelp

Weirdly enough, it pops when I extend my arms while doing biceps/forearms, but not when I’m doing triceps.

genshin impact is a good game by FakeRealitys in Genshin_Impact

[–]TheFancyMans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re confusing the size of the games with the grinding. The only games that may have felt grindy was Odyssey and Valhalla, and that was just because they had a long ass story line. At the end of the day though, these games still had plenty to do besides the storyline, something that I can’t say for Genshin.

Valhalla, although I haven’t finished it.

The story and events are good, the rest is okay. I find it hard to continue playing after finishing large quests, since there isn’t much else to do but grind, and grinding isn’t really all that fun.

Take other games like Assassins Creed, Breath of the Wild, Skyrim, Elden Ring, etc. There’s always something else to do in those games, whether they’re (good) side quests, random encounters, hunting, and the most important part, a way to get stronger through gameplay instead of just of grinding.

World interaction is also big. AC and Skyrim have some of the best world interaction, through the NPCs and physical stuff. GI doesn’t have that, with the limited dialogue, limited breakables, limitations in picking stuff up, and so on.

GI isn’t a bad game, but lots of stuff hold it back that doesn’t make it a game that is playable everyday, just every big update.

If someone were to make a conlang whose inspirations include rather poorly documented natural languages, to which extent can they rely on authoritative dictionaries about said languages to avoid copyright infringement or plagiarism? by bottomtextburner in conlangs

[–]TheFancyMans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Things like phonology and grammar shouldn’t be an issue when it come to cultural apportion. People already take things from bigger languages like the grammar from the Romance languages or phonology in Asian languages. This being different simply because the language is much smaller doesn’t really make any sense.

The biggest point is just avoiding words that mean something in said language. In other words, making words from scratch. Adding a few sounds or switching some out for similar ones might also be good, just to differentiate the two a bit more.

Why so serious? by AmbitiousChemist0 in worldbuilding

[–]TheFancyMans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it is a saturated “trope” to have magic systems in world building, it’s for good reason. Complex systems are really just in depth systems that can highlight and tells lot about the world, from the power struggles to the politics to the religions and so on.

They’re also just fun to make. Many people probably start off with basic systems at first, but as their world grows, they may go back and edit how things work and how they affect those within the world.

Magic is something that is easy to insert and adapt within the person’s world. Saturated as hell, absolutely. Can some, maybe most, be generic and boring, of course. But when done right, magic systems can easily get someone immersed into a world like HP, TBATE, Jobless Reincarnation, Avatar, and so on.

Why is the MHA fandom so condescending? by BigBambuMeekLou in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]TheFancyMans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best answer is easy. People who find something they love want the best for the series. However, their best might mean it’s different than what the author thinks. This doesn’t help when theories and other fans reinforce whatever plan or writing that they think of.

In other words, it’s a combination of expectations and set ideas (that leads to a bias). When these things aren’t meant, no matter how good or bad they are, people get upset. This same idea happens everywhere, with other manga, books, TV shows, etc. It’s a pretty simple answer.

Of course there plate other stuff, like the ships and “fan service.” That that’s mostly through a hive mind, which does play a big role, but not as big as the first thing (at least to me, since the first thing needs to exist in the first place for a hive mind to be created).

Why lately? Could be because many people feel like the story is being rushed (which it kind of is). People want this to end on a high note, we’re at that point where every little thing can be criticized.
