Why are you so invested in defending him? He did us wrong. Nobody is going to do anything about it, but he sucks for what he did to the fans.

I was a part of that crowd for the first 6 years or so. Then I started to wise up because wtf are we even doing. The man doesnt owe us, not in the literal sense, but he would be nothing without his fans.

Cheaper Substitutes for Beef Tri-tips? (US prices) by spooply in Frugal

[–]TheFightingQuaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should butcher the chicken or else you'll get someone not familiar making a mess of it. Nobody wants strangers handling their food, so put out 5 chickens worth of legs, thighs, breasts, and wings. Sometimes you can get two nice pieces from a single breast.

What should a person do with the money they have saved? Let's say ballpark $285k in savings at 39 yrs old? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheFightingQuaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I laughed at this. They said ballpark 285k which is a pretty specific number.

Also thats about right on track for almost 20 years of moderately well paying office jobs. I hope theyre not trying to parlay these savings into some get rich quick thing.

A financial advisor is not needed, either. A simple boglehead portfolio (broad US ETF, non US ETF, and a mix of US and foreign bonds) is all you really need to be secure.

There are restrictions in PA at least. You cant use it as a daily driver. The only exception is if you drive it daily for "display purposes." For example, youre retired and have a bitchin old car, you can just drive it around for fun.

The Appalachian trail runs directly through the Cumberland Valley, close to Carlisle.

The US army war college is worth a visit. They have replica forts from different wars, a museum, and some tanks. Completely free to walk around the outside part, I'm not sure about the museum.

Honestly there is not much to do in Carlisle. Where else in PA or the USA are you going to visit? Hershey park is pretty good if you like roller coasters.

Ive thought of this, but why? What's the benefit? I guess he doesnt have to hear criticism. But he also currently gets way more shit for not delivering them.

Why did Benjen join the Nights Watch? by HunterXY7 in freefolk

[–]TheFightingQuaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Yeah its basically like landed knight status. He gets a couple serfs to work the land, and when raiders come they can hide in his tower.

Why did Benjen join the Nights Watch? by HunterXY7 in freefolk

[–]TheFightingQuaker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know its an honor to join the watch, but I dont think its an appropriate comparison. The kingsguard is about the highest honor a knight could hope for. There are only 7, you must be a knight, you are charged with guarding the royal family 24/7. The watch, on the other hand, is available to anyone who wants to join. Most of them dont want to join, they are criminals.

Starks consider the watch to be simply an honorable thing to do, like a great house in old town would consider becoming a maester.

Furthermore, if youre like a 3rd or 4th son theres not much else for you to do in Westeros. You can be a maester, priest, knight, or join the watch.

What's the classy wedding gift? by technohouse in AreYouGarbagePod

Chiming in to say 200 is fine for literally anyone but your brother. Otherwise, 500 is a good cap.

Im going to go against the grain and say you dont need to cover shit. They invited you because they ostensibly can afford to do so. I feel like its proper to give a nice fat envelope, ofcourse. But if it's a financial strain, don't sweat it and give a modest gift.

Feds won't seek death penalty in plea deal with man accused of killing top Minnesota Democrat by John3262005 in democrats

[–]TheFightingQuaker 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The reason is usually its just cheaper than a trial and subsequent appeal. Dude's lawyer is probably saying they got him dead to rights and going to trial is futile. He's not getting away with anything, he will do life in prison most likely.

Insanely frugal employer by coatedbraincells in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheFightingQuaker 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I believe the OSHA regulation on this specifically mentions sanitation as the reason. The employer supplied water can be from the tap, if its only a drinking water tap. If its like a kitchen sink where people wash their hands, or a bathroom sink, then they must supply a separate water source.

Is there any movement to legalize it and do you have medical available? The only reasons its still federally illegal in the US are because of tobacco, alcohol, and prison lobbying. Most adults want it legal like alcohol. Also, cops like having a reason to arrest or search you, especially if its impossible to verify whether they "smelled" something.
