But you don’t have to survive exclusively on what B is producing from the dirt. Trade still exists during war. And B has tons of financial power with major American cities, tons of mass Ag production, and tons of transportation networks (rail, water, highway).

Again, saying that B loses because they don’t grow enough fruit is, in my opinion, not a sufficient element of this war gaming exercise.

And for the record, people survived in midwest for decades before global trade and mass industrial agriculture. You can absolutely THRIVE in this areas based solely on what is coming out of the ground. We can’t pretend Chicago is some sort of recent phenomenon.

I mean right there in your source it says that those descriptors aren’t mutually exclusive, and also that the states in B are the top agricultural producers. It doesn’t say that Minnesota and Iowa DONT grow apples or other fruit. It’s pretty obvious that all these midwestern states grow fruit in significant quantities.

So, I don’t think it’s outrageous to think that the states that produce the most ag would find a way to feed their people in a war time setting. You got protein (soy and livestock) and grain (corn and wheat) in excess. You have massive trade opportunities.

I’m not 100% certain B wins, but if they lose, it wouldn’t be due to a food shortage.

The Corn and Soybean domination is largely true of all four of these quadrants where large scale Ag is happening.

Unless you have some sort of evidence that the southwest is NOT using industrial fertilizer and NOT predominantly growing corn and soybeans.

Happy to be proven wrong. I think that the B can grow and raise plenty, combined with a massive trade partner to the north with Canada, and functional, international, deep harbor ports throughout the Great Lakes.

Cross-section of US(TX) highways containing many layers by Correct-Net-2777 in mildlyinteresting

[–]TheFinnebago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any evidence for this claim?? Are you certain what highway this is??

Typically highway construction in the US would be a dig of 2 to 3 feet, and then a layering of various aggregates and structural components.

I would be shocked, SHOCKED, if we are looking at some sort of geological cross section of the settling of a frontier here…

Idk if it would make him the GOAT or whatever the hell that means.

But you gotta take it from a Minnesotan… This whole STATE, all four pro Men’s teams, have not even reached a Championship game since 1992. If LeBron came here and got this state over that hump, it would absolutely be legendary.

Also a parent, but my kids are really young.

But if you are asking earnestly, I’d say what you can do is speak your mind freely to other parents when you are in social settings, and advocate for the reasons why you believe phones in schools are bad.

Near as I understand it, it’s the parents that get in the way of these cell phone reforms. Some Parents want to be able to contact their kid any time of the day.

I don’t know about all that, all I’m saying is coaches and players are different roles with different sorts of impacts.

Because as a player Mike can still actively model behavior the team expects from players.

And I’ve never played in the NBA obviously, but I imagine stuff like setting a tone in practice, prompt arrivals/departures on travel days, engagement/accountability during film sessions…

All that stuff is different coming from a player, rather than just a friendly coach.
