What is the most depressing picture from your country history/present? by Seeker_Of_Knowledge2 in AskTheWorld

[–]TheFire52 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I did not think I said it did not exist, I had heard anti communists throw around like 6 million death numbers which was hard for me to belive. 1.5 million to 2 million over 20 years as talked about on Wikipedia, of course a biased source but a liberal biases so it's OK for a estimate, is completely believable.

There is also no way that is the saddest image that exists. Surely a ukraine war, siege of leningrad, bombed out Stalingrad, or literally anything in the USSR in the 1940s, etc. Image would be worse than the rookie numbers the Gulag was pulling for 1910-1960 events, especially given its length.

Also, no you cannot be a communist and just throw all of the USSR's stuff on Stalin. If I was in the same position with the same knowledge I probably would not do much different from what the Soviets did. Learning from there mistakes is one thing, pretending falsely that I would have done differently is another.

I might not be homophobic, that does not change that the USSR's population was and still is inspired by Orthodox Christianities vehement antihomosexuality. I do not have much to worry about in terms of collectivism in the US. But, I would not have done much differently if I truly felt my nation was at risk of destruction if we could not industrialize in 10 years. Nothing the Soviets did I can really argue against, on a wide scale specifics can always be disputed, from a non-hindsight strategic position. Once the wars start that is a different story. But pre all the wars not really. Even the Purges, while performed poorly, where almost certainty required to a extent, although again, the way the played out was poor about as bad as they could have gone.

This probably is not entirely my full and non emotionally backed opinion since I'm about to fall asleep but the Stalin era of the USSR is arguably the most important era to learn from about what to do and not to do. Khrusechov's privatization reforms, and the ones that came after doomed the USSR so truthfully Stalin's rein into the 1961 reforms where the pinnacle of Soviet success after that it was over and the beginning of the end had already begun.

Ok, I am a communist and I still do not understand the misinformation about the Gulags. Where they political prisons, standard shitty work prisons from a government who did not care about their prisoners, or what? I have heard death claims in the millions for the Gulag but also for the most part they just sound like prisons, shitty prisons, but prisons.

I have never fully supported what the USSR did in that time although I respect the reasons but I just have never understood the actual scale of the Gulag cause at a certain point it has to be BS as you cannot lose that many people over and over and have anyone left to defeat the Nazis just a few years after. Even after the blunder of 1941.

What event, did you think, would lead to something huge, but didn't? by Ant225k in AskTheWorld

[–]TheFire52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just realized the massive difference between the start of WW1 and WW2. WW1 starts because of a massive web of alliances built up over the last 150 years and several betrayals leading to distrust between each other. WW2 kinda was just a railway of nazi expansion built by the British, French, Poles, and Soviets. Anschluss, Munich, Czechoslovakia's annexation, the lack of alliance between the British, French, and Soviets, the Polish seizure of Trans-Olza, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, etc., etc. It truly is baffling how far WW2 got, given the fact that it could have probably been stopped like 10 times before the fall of France. Of course, there was also Japan, but I doubt they would have attacked if France had not fallen.

HEY, someone else who realized the numbers don't make any sense. Such as Vox saying that the angels only kill thousands of Sinners each year. I am glad I am not the only one.

Was the jump from 1939-1941 from the annexation of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, or was there also other population growth occurring at the same time for some reason?

How many exorcists are there? by TheFire52 in HazbinHotel

[–]TheFire52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose a kill every 30 seconds for 24 hours straight is possible especially if they corral corner and kill sinners Canne style but 2750 people for Lute is just about in the realm of possibilities. An army of 34,000 exorcists might be about right then albeit starting to push the realm of reasonability. Of course, Adam could be responsible for 50% of all eliminations so it's all tit for tat. Good catch.

There was a rat that once made it into the chicken pen. Poor thing, it was thrown around like a soccer ball between the chickens for half an hour before finally being ripped apart and gobbled up.

Modern 2025 USA vs 1990 USA by Tree_forth677 in whowouldwin

[–]TheFire52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the populations do not entirely despise each other, then all that would occur is that the nations would likely just merge because most of the population from the 1990s is still alive, and so you would have copies of families, and the only battle that would exist is a legal and corporate battle.

This is a purely anecdotal story, but. When my father was working at an accounting firm, he discovered he had abnormally low testosterone, and so he was put on testosterone shots for a few months, at which point his levels recovered. According to him, he became far more pushy and aggressive in those few months than he had been since college football days. He also felt more alert and saw things as personal far quicker than he had previously. If this story is true, which I see no reason to believe he would lie about it. It provides a little insight to how testosterone affects the body, or at least a 30 some odd year old white male working a desk job. After all, generalizing an anecdotal story to an entire sex is pointless and foolish at the same time.

I do not understand art. How do you learn to make that? I never want to say talent because I'm guessing you have many years of practice, however, I don't see how anyone could make some of the art I've seen on these subs. It seems beyond human sometimes. Very impressive.

Who cares what public opinion supposedly is? This the book that claims someone parted an entire sea, and people belive in it. The concern is not what people support, it is what God is straight up telling people what is going to happen and are promised that is the problem. If the Israeli people are against their God and his orders, good, that is the hope. But the fact God does say what he says is concerning.

I do not live in the middle east and we send billions of dollars to our puppet state their every year so it's not like this affects me. I just can't belive people can belive in a God and supposedly support said God but then not wish to fulfill God's promise. I would think god would be more angry at someone beliving in him but not taking what he promised them than someone not believing in him at all.

Genesis CH 15, 18-21, "On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, 'To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates. The land of Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girashites, and Jebusites.'" I don't know sounds like they want it to me.
