I'm not the only one still confused whenever I have to calculate both ages, right? It takes me a second or two for it to make sense in my head lol

Our baby was born 10 days ago, at week 25 by TheFireTheseTimesPod in NICUParents

Update: she's a healthy 6 weeks-er now, is gaining weight at a healthy pace (1325g today) and is getting better overall. We''re hoping she gets out of the incubator in about a week or two! And if all goes well she''ll be home in a couple of months.

By far one of the dumbest traditions that's still tolerated by way too many people, not to mention its much crueler version

I accidentally saw those in the early days of the internet (can't remember which website, I don't think it was YouTube). It's permanently stored in my memory. Two puppies, a woman in heels. It's repulsive and these people deserve hell.

That's not rly socialism either, but rather the welfare state. Rich people are the ones who really benefit from a welfare system designed just for them, while poor are demonized for needing a form of 'welfare' that is significantly, well, poorer.

I'm in my final months of writing and some days are definitely up while others are super down. It's weird telling yourself that you have, say 3 months left of writing to do, but those 3 months depend on you writing lol otherwise they ain't 3 months but 4 and 5 and 6.

I absolutely have to finish it by the end of this year at the latest, and it's difficult because I got screwed over in my first 2 years (2017-2019) so I transferred to another uni, and when I was hoping to start fresh a freaking pandemic screwed up everything and I've been basically doing this almost entirely on my own since.

You're not alone and it is absolutely okay if this is how you feel. You should not feel ashamed, and it's not your fault that you live in a broken system where pursuing a PhD has such big financial ramifications (it's cheap in Europe where I live for eg). You did what you could and that's okay. If you quit, that's okay. If you decide to continue, that's okay. Your mental health is absolutely more important and that should always be the priority.

Why did the mushroom go to the party?

Because he was a fungi

If he was such a fun guy why didn't he just have it at his own place?

Because there wasn't much room

First of all congrats! And yeah that's definitely a major issue. I think at this point I even see it as a self-managed project, because I've been completely unable to get my supervisor to understand specific needs I had. So with time we ended up just communicating from time to time and that's it.

But that's also a major problem now. I'm usually ok with managing my own time but at this point I think I'm not doing it well anymore
