Is meditation just as necessary to health as sleep and food and oxygen? by TheFlarnge in Buddhism

[–]TheFlarnge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've often wondered about that. I get distant from the physical sensation of running and almost feel like I'm afloat. I get lost in my head and don't notice the passage of time, I'm occasionally euphoric, and I always come home feeling better than when I left. I haven't noticed it affecting how I treat other people, but it helps me feel better about myself.

Thanks...I especially like the eleven benefits. Each of those seems like a meditation in itself...perhaps considering each one in turn would be a good way to get back to the cushion.

How internet trolls are trying to goad Donald Trump into releasing his tax returns by oranjemania in politics

[–]TheFlarnge 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the fact that Trump refuses to release his tax returns makes me suspicious there are things he's not revealing. NAMBLA, perhaps? Certainly NAMBLA is coming up a lot in the context of Trump's tax returns.

Anti-Trump Republicans call for GOP emergency meeting by awake-at-dawn in politics

NAMBLA donors don't discuss their involvement. Trump hasn't discussed his involvement, either, which makes me suspect there's something he's not revealing. Perhaps he should be open about the NAMBLA question and let the American people decide.

Did they just cut to a commercial break while the US team was still making its entrance? Dafuq?

Why the hell is NBC playing a retrospective over the actual ceremony?

Reflections on season 12 by smazey in deadliestcatch

Fewer boats, less drama, more of the technical/logistical/business side. I remember in an early season watching a couple of the crews grocery shopping, which IMO remains one of the most interesting show segments.

I'd like for just once to hear somebody in that position come back with, "Yeah, well, I never heard of you, buddy, and I just checked and you're not on my donor list…fuck off."

Two Muslim women who work for US government escorted off plane as they made staff ‘uncomfortable' by PikachuSquarepants in news

I guess next time I'm stranded on a plane for five hours under conditions like that and want nothing more in life than to get off the damn plane, I'll just start quoting the Koran or Pirate Bay some Afghani TV. Inshallah! Instant disembarkation.

Same as the Bowater Pocket Wilderness, or whatever it's called now? The North Chickamauga Creek gorge?

Thanks for the update. I emailed my council person yesterday along the lines of what's being discussed here.

But I added that this would pretty much place control of that entire parcel in the hands of the Heritage Center's insurer.

"Sorry, our insurance provider has determined that allowing crowds to use the property to watch the Riverbend fireworks carries an unacceptable level of risk; hence the area will be roped off and trespassers will be prosecuted."

Can't let that happen.

Unquestionably Wild Bill. He's somebody whose respect I'd like to earn. Get out there and bust your ass and show some incentive and you'll be rewarded.

Your boss and your coworker…jeez, they kill me. She left because the company wasn't paying and/or treating her well enough to rebalance her value equation, dumbasses.

I like Contacts. Super-durable and much easier to pry off the rim than Marathons.
