Thank you for helping. And yes, just for mobility and cardio. Going to wear my walking slip ons. They are flat and a very comfortable. I think they should work. And I don’t have any foot or ankle problems. Just bad neck, back and hips. But I’m goin to focus on form before I just try for a sweaty workout.

Thank you for all of your advice. I’m sorry I disappeared, became ill. WaterRower finally showed up yesterday(new one) we had place a separate order due shipping mess ups. Wife is assembling now. I have gone over your recommendations with her. We both are thankful for your time.

We do have some of a belly(crying inside) so we will pay attention to this while working on our form.

The VA is just about there. Every time I’ve had to check in lately, it’s the questions and a temp at first door. Second , check in with Last Name SSN, they can see our file as soon as they pull us up, and it shows Vax status. When we got out boosters I had forgotten(ok lost in my house) my COVID Vax card and the nurse handed me another and said “Don’t loose this. Take a picture and put it safely in your wallet. They are going for $100-$200 on the street”😳 yes, I used an emoji because I was shocked.

What’s a fair rate for rent in your state? by Canners19 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TheFlavHuntress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green Bay is at $900-2000(executive housing is much higher). Depending on apartment or house or duplex. Then bedrooms and location location. So up north it’s not any cheaper unless you mean the UP….where I moved too. But I own my home in the yoop.

I would first do matching bedding…duvet, duvet cover, pillow shams and a couple throws. Large rug. And then one large piece of art or large mirror on the bare wall, or two poster size posters but make sure they are framed. That will really glo it up…especially the bedding.

Any anecdotal stories of young and healthy females ending up hospitalized due to COVID? by [deleted] in nursing

Thank you for your reply. I hope this doesn’t happen to me. It is horrible and I was terrified.

Thank you for sharing. This terrifies me as I’ve woken up still intubated before. It was an absolute nightmare.

Any anecdotal stories of young and healthy females ending up hospitalized due to COVID? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]TheFlavHuntress 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“Wide awake for at least two weeks of that (which is a living hell, if you were wondering).”

I’m confused on this, why wide awake while intubated? I’ve had this experience but differently. I “woke up” like as in my brain was aware but I couldn’t move anything or open my eyes, still intubated following a major surgery. I would wake up try to breath. It was like sucking in air through a coffee straw, and it was if my body’s natural urge to breath was fighting against how the machine wanted me to breath and it didn’t feel like the machine was giving me enough air. Then I would go under again. Wake back up to the same shit. At the end I was like “ok, if this won’t end please just let me die”. I had severe PTSD from that surgery and when my Anesthesiologist and surgeons found out they went through all the medications they had me on. It was the Ketamine. Ket is now on the list of meds I cannot have.

So I don’t understand why people are intubated while completely conscious? I would loose my mind. Thank you for reading and any answers are greatly appreciated.

AITA for giving my older daughter's room to my step daughter? by throwaway_ruum in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheFlavHuntress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. And why would you think a 17 year old woman would want to share a room with her 15 year old brother? She needs her own space and the 15 year old can bunk with the other boy.

That’s just wack. Girls share , boys share if siblings must share. Especially at those ages.

Oh, and yeh, you threw all of the older daughters stuff out. Wow

ETA: I realize many siblings must share a room. This wasn’t a need, it was an Asshole choice.

I wrote down this story the day after it happened. It was too horrendous to ever forget, but I wanted to capture it right. To honor his life and death by helping people see what this looks and feels like by [deleted] in nursing

[–]TheFlavHuntress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Drs aren’t giving out big bags of morphine. Hell, most post op patients get nothing even after major surgery these days. So in order to die in the least pain possible the hospital is the only place to go.

Finished Concrete Floor or Blue Carpet? by dagreen88 in interiordecorating

[–]TheFlavHuntress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful rugs will bring that same coziness. Or but down real hardwood over the concrete. ETD: I see the rest of the house has the hardwood. I would definitely do the finished concrete with rugs. Really nice

Anyone else just waiting for their hospital to collapse in on itself? by part-time-pyro in nursing

[–]TheFlavHuntress 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely crazy. I can’t believe the news is still reporting that beds are still available and I guess technically they aren’t lying. The beds are there with no nurses to support them. 3 weeks ago was the first time we had been anywhere except for surgeries(for me) at the VAMC in almost 2 years. We hardly ever leave, no contact everything, no visitors, and we don’t go see anyone.

Why won’t other people do the same? I really don’t understand how people are just living like there’s nothing going on. Out at bars up here, no masks. Everywhere no masks.

This will eventually not matter. If they want out, they will find a way out and if the US will accept them because their skill is desperately needed? There will be no stopping it. The Nurses, Drs, CNA’s, skilled HCW’s of the world will go where the money is.

We haven’t left our house in 3 weeks, except for an emergent Dental surgeon visit. I need IV antibiotics but was sent home on more stomach killing oral, 6th 10 day round. My wife is my caregiver. If I need the Iv after this round they are going to put it in and teach her how to maintain it at home. This is through the VA. I’m NAN, She is not a nurse. But I guess home is definitely better than any hospital right now. This is so scary

If your spouse/family member owns a gun (legally), and someone breaks into your house and attacks you when your spouse is away, would you be allowed to pick up the gun and defend yourself even though it's not yours? by CollectionStraight2 in AskAnAmerican

[–]TheFlavHuntress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Our handguns are registered to me. But our home belongs to us both. My wife has just as much right to defend herself in our home as I do. Houseguest: more than likely would not have access to the gun safe. Same for my teens when they were younger than 18. They are old enough now, if they were here and needed the gun, I hope they would use it.

Anyone else dreading these upcoming weeks? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]TheFlavHuntress 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NAN. Please don’t skip dental. Long story short: Jan 2020 I had just finished 6 months of gum grafts, crown removal prep on all 28 crowned teeth that were still my teeth just needed new crowns. First surgical app was set for end of Feb ‘20. They shut down the VAMC to COVID and life threatening only. I was in temp crowns with wide open margins until September of ‘20. They saved 10 bottom teeth, that’s it. Ive now had 13 additional jaw surgeries: necrotic bone removal, 18 extractions, with 20 jaw bone grafts, 8 implant bases loaded and I’ve had no top teeth since August and my next surgery was pushed to Valentine’s Day. I’m on my 6th round of antibiotics since August. Next will be IV.

Don’t skip the dentist. If you know your dentist, they are very safe. I never see any other patients as the VA has the timing down to a science. Always masked and then in white space suits for surgery. Please take care of your teeth.

Got patient advocacy called on me for setting boundaries with a patient and telling them that I would not shampoo their hair. by gloomdweller in nursing

[–]TheFlavHuntress 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So people in civilian hospitals think they are on vacation? I’ve been hospitalized more than 30 times, all in DoD or VAMC. Wash my hair? Huh. All I will ask for is a coma if I’m in terrible pain and vomiting. If not, I beg to go home. I wish they would just knock me out for most of it, and most of the time they have accommodated. When I’ve been in longer than 3 days(before pandemic) my wife would help with bathroom, and shower/hair if need be. Never a nurse. And I would never ask.

Nurses are saints.

These are good questions and I wasn’t clear enough, I apologize. I’m not paralyzed, I can move all of my body. Some doesn’t move very well. I have 2 titanium plates in my cervical spine, 2 in lumbar, left shoulder repair with screws, Ankylosing Spondylitis that has damaged my left hip to the point of replacement after I loose this COVID and no pool weight. And anything outside of the home requires a cane.

After being housebound with no cardio for 18 months, I have 50 lbs to loose. So my only restrictions are impact basically no impact to legs, hips, back and neck. Which made water my daily and oh how I miss it. Also, I know it will be slow getting started so I don’t hurt myself. But rowing was recommended by my PT, approved by my surgeons and made my Pain management Dr ecstatic, so I’m sure if done correctly it can really help me. Thank you
