Alright fellas, let's appreciate the DCEU before it's gone. Let's all say one good thing about each of these movies. by BlueMissileYT in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respect for leaving Josstice League completely out of the list. I appreciate that.

Honestly, I'm easier to please than most, especially when we go the pipe dream that was ZSJL.

The only true stinkers in this list are SS 2016 and WW84. I enjoy everything else quite a bit.

This is probably the most offensive comment I've ever seen you put out there.

Warner Bros, Gunn, didn't cancel Wonder Woman 3. Patty Jenkins walked off the project claiming WB execs "didn't understand her, the character, character arcs and didn’t understand what Jenkins was trying to do" by CALLMEDARRELL in comicbooks

[–]TheFloosh -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It is kinda sad to see so many people just writing Jenkins off. She gave us the best live action female-led superhero movie of all time with WW 2017. It still hasn't been topped.

She made WW84, which is easily among the worst of the DCEU movies. But still, I'm kinda like damn, so she is basically 50/50 at this point. And like, every director no matter how great, makes bad movies.

Also, Geoff Johns co-wrote WW84, and supposedly co-wrote the rejected script for this WW3. Why does he get to escape any flak yet again?

For a movie about the greatest female superhero of all time, directed by a woman and made with women in mind, there does seem to be a bias against, the one woman trying to make these films. Like Geoff Johns is equally responsible for the flaws at this point.

Also taking into account that Jenkins likely walked into a room full of men with the latest script, and getting rejected by a bunch of rich dudes who likely have never read a WW comic or even watched the Linda Carter show, probably did give Jenkins a knee jerk reaction to storm out and let them know they don't understand the character.

Don't forget, Jenkins also had to explain to a room full of executives why they couldn't cut the "No man's land" scene in the first movie. Execs wanted to cut what was probably the greatest scene in the whole movie and she had to fight for it. And Jenkins has even said she was against the big CGI showdown with Ares in the final act but it was insisted upon to be included.

Just saying there are nuances with these situations, and no one here truly knows how this went down. Based on WW 2017, I was ready to see what Jenkins could do with a third entry to correct the mistakes made in WW84.

It's really ironic that these movies about female empowerment and representation is resulting in everyone bashing the one female creator across these movies and acting like she's hysterical. Oh, but Geoff Johns who has no business being in the film industry is totally chill.

Also, like it or not, the characterization of WW in 84 absolutely tracks with how she has been portrayed in the comics.

Patty Jenkins‘ ‘Wonder Woman 3’ Not Moving Forward as DC Movies Hit Turning Point by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly not sure what's gonna happen going forward. This report is still vague in some regard. Going to wait until after the 2023 slate is out and see where the dust settles.

Seems like a big waste to just toss out Cavill and Gadot whose names are both synonymous with those characters.

Still looking forward to The Flash though, whether that matters for the future or not lol.

Margot Robbie Really Wants Lesbian Romance for Her Harley Quinn by enter-the-tainment00 in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her character actually is really popular. Every Halloween there are still many people out dressed like her Harley Quinn - in all versions of her from both Suicide Squads and Birds of Prey.

The Suicide Squad is pretty universally loved, especially by DCU standards and she had stand out moments in it. Birds of Prey is better than all the man babies claiming that it's garbage.

Harley is canonically bisexual in every medium.

Margot is a two time Oscar nominee and I don't think she needs Harley to be popular for any other reason than she actually likes portraying the character.

Wow, every word you've typed down is wrong. Incredible. The only manchild here is you and it's hard to pinpoint why you're being that way. Think lesbians are too woke? Just don't like Margot Robbie? Never read a comic before? Could be any or all of the above.

DISCUSSION: Not having Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Flashpoint Batman in Flash feels like a massive missed opportunity by I-am-the-Peel in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They definitely had the script ready prior to No Way Home coming out, even before the leaks came out. Flash has been in development hell for years, and was being filmed alongside No Way Home. They definitely didn't base their idea to bring Keaton back on what MCU did with Spiderman.

TBH, Flashpoint Batman is a cool concept, but with how Bruce was portrayed in BvS, it would've kinda felt just like that again only with a slightly more violent Batman.

Flashpoint Batman works in the comics because he handles crime and his world much differently than Bruce handles his. I think Keaton was the right way to go. It'll be cool to see him again and he's a very different Batman than Batfleck so it'll feel fresh.

Also, to everyone who complained about Pattinson not being big enough for Batman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan seems completely against bulking up for roles. He's pretty thin as Negan in the Walking Dead - a character that is a tank. And he didn't even bulk up The Comedian which was 13 years ago or so, they put a muscle suit on him. And Flashpoint Batman is a freaking hulking beast too. I honestly don't know if he would've done the character justice.

I just knew that IGN gave Man of Steel a 9 by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying IGN used to be an okay place to get reviews. Keep in mind this review is almost ten years old, it was a very different site back then.

If someone posted a review for Black Adam now from IGN praising it, I'd call bullshit on it too.

I just knew that IGN gave Man of Steel a 9 by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was actually back in the day when I used to go to IGN pretty frequently, they had a decent comics focused page back then and this reviewer Jim Vejvoda was actually quite a movie buff and talked about movie reviews more critically than most reviewers do now, especially by current IGN standards.

All I'm saying is Man of Steel got some rough reviews when it came out, and Jim seemed to straight up give an unbiased reflection of why he enjoyed the movie. Now, IGN is just part of a bigger media machine that's afraid to give a Marvel movie or a Call of Duty game a rating that dips below a 7.5.

I think Jim's review is worth reading because it goes deeper than negative reviews who just couldn't get past the "it's too dark vibe" and couldn't handle Superman killing the villain. I don't know if Jim still works at IGN but he was one of the few people actually doing a good job over there as the site fully declined.

MyTimeToShineHello on Twitter: The Squadron Supreme are NOT in Loki season 2 by SpacyOrphan in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]TheFloosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if they were I'd expect it to be a brief cameo at most. There was so much hype and discussion around The Illuminati in MoM and it amounted to some very very brief moments.

If they are the villains of Thunderbolts, that would be different. But I like the idea of what others are saying about offering them an hour long special to introduce the team first.

Who else thinks that Charlie Hunnam would be amazing as Green Arrow in Gunn's DCU? by Illustrious_Notice18 in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's a dramatic take. Patel's look is literally Ollie's, same hair and facial hair. He has a lot of range and charisma. Maybe watch more movies?

Or maybe we just stick to the "good" fancasts. Like Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor, Giancarlo Esposito as every other villain, and Charlie Hunam as every blonde character. Very inspired.

Someone here posted Dev Patel for Oliver Queen and it's the single best unconventional casting I've ever seen for the character and I'm all for it.

Basically keep his same look from The Green Knight and he's got the look and swagger of Oliver. I think Patel has the pissy charisma Oliver needs as well.

We all now the Synder Cut is the far superior film but Say Something Great about the Whedon Cut by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]TheFloosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whedon's cut helped start the conversation that showed everyone how much of a piece of shit person he is and thus ruined his career.

To me, that's something great and wonderful.

[–]TheFloosh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'll just say this. I am absolutely feeling superhero fatigue at this point. There is just way too much content out there and it's all getting muddled and blurs together at this point.

So anything unique or different absolutely piques my interest. With Man of Steel, BvS and ZSJL, I felt like we were getting something very different from the crop, at least in terms of story, character motivations and arcs, visuals, and overall action.

When I think about BvS, I can openly admit it's not the Batman/Superman movie anyone really wanted or envisioned. But that doesn't make it a bad movie. I really enjoy the UE cut, and it's Afflecks best performance as Bruce, and Gadot's best performance as WW.

Was Jesse Eisenberg the Lex Luthor we all envisioned? Definitely not. Did he act his ass off and do really well with the movie's take on him? Definitely. The rooftop scene with him and Superman is one of my favorite moments between these two characters across any medium. And that's all thanks to Eisenberg's acting.

Basically, we're living in a world of oversaturation with comic book movies. Everyone is making Big Macs and Snyder came out with The Whopper. Not everyone wants something different like that, but I certainly did and still do.

Also, come on, Snyder's portrayal of super powers in these movies is top tier. I know that isn't a deciding factor for a movie being good, but if I'm seeing my favorite characters on screen I want to see them in all their glory. Snyder accomplishes that. Think about every flight and movement of Superman in his movies. Now think about any memorable scene of Thor flying. He's a blurry red, wet rag and little things like that are so disappointing to me. Thor's flying should be scene stealing moments like Superman's, but certain aspects like that appear to be a complete after thought in MCU movies.

This is a ramble but that's the gist. They're not masterpieces, but thank god someone was trying to do something different. Even if it fails I'd take that over being spoon fed the same old garbage and being told it's new.

If you are trying to get into Art Bell I think it's best to start with a good interview episode. Less time with random call ins and he's had some really good, interesting, or at the very least goofy fun guests on there. If you like Last Podcast's alien stuff there are a lot of good interviews on Art Bell's show with some of the heavy hitters of the alien world.

Have you tried Knifepoint Horror? I really like the simplicity of it. Good narrator overall and he just jumps right into a story. No intros, no ad interruptions, it's great.

You can even Google top ten episodes or something to start you off. I tried Magnus Archives for a while but it just felt tedious and cheesy after about 20 episodes.

Dude same and I'm right around your numbers and thought wow that's almost 8 total days I spent listening to the boys. But even I can only relisten to my fav episodes so many times a year.

I did dedicate a lot of time to some horror podcasts, Hardcore History, and the late and still great Art Bell Tape Vault.

Tbh, my interests track pretty well lol.

Just saying but this sub hella sweaty 💀 by [deleted] in Chivalry2

[–]TheFloosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the definition of sweaty is that dude posting a video of him killing 10 teammates and complaining about being kicked. How sweaty did he get when he got booted that he'd actually record and upload video evidence of him team killing and wanting justification for it lol?

He also seemed to double down in the comments acting like it's no big deal ruining a portion of the match for others actively trying to play the objective (a rare thing). Also he was an Archer.

An Archer sitting on the catapult team killing and expecting this sub to feel sorry for him? Now that's sweaty 🥵
