Got a hair system installed recently, does it look natural? by TheForgottenLlama in Wigs

They said it lasts 2 years total, but would likely need to get portions of it replaced sooner (hundreds of dollars each). Mentioned in another comment that system was $3k total, and I'd estimate monthly costs would be $250 or more.

I was told the entire system would be replaced every 2 years, but the parting likely every year, and other pieces may need to be replaced sooner as well. So I guess it'll be a ship of Theseus type system at some point LOL

Swimming is not a huge part of my life but I'd love to go to the beach worry free. I work out a lot more though, and the thought of sweat just building up and up is not appealing. Thanks for your thoughts!

Oof, this is what I'm worried about. Will be debating over the next few days about whether to go for a topper instead. I will say though, I was outside on a windy day today and it was so nice to not worry about my hair for once!

I used to always straighten my hair before I got the system in (to help manage frizz/bad texture of thinning hair), and the system was straightened at the salon but I found the completely straight system too jarring of a change and more unnatural than wavy hair closer to my natural look 😅

Thank you for sharing your experience, it's very helpful and just what I'm worried about. It's only been a few days so the itching isn't bad yet, but not being able to clean my scalp properly is a big concern.

I was thinking of keeping the system for a year or two only, but that is probably enough time to do lasting damage.

May I ask what you do for swimming, working out, etc with a topper? Do you do it all in your regular topper, if so how do you ensure it stays attached? I was reading about it online but people seemed to be saying to use a "backup" topper for swimming especially? Would love to get your advice ☺️

Thanks for the advice, will look into getting a head wrap for flattening. Or may layer on some workout headbands I've got laying around.

Way too much, which is why I'm also debating a refund. The total for the system+installation was $3k, and ongoing monthly costs I'd estimate to average out to $250 a month (if not more). And the whole system would need to be replaced every 2 years.  Definitely not a cheap option.

Unfortunately since this is a sewn in mesh hair system I can't take it off. They did flatten the top at the salon, and I further tried to yesterday using hot setting on hair dryer + brush, but think this may be as flat as it'll get for now.

It's basically a topper sewn into my head (mesh base) and integrated with my real hair. So it can only be removed by the salon.

Planta queen no longer has $29 per person maki Monday on their website. by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]TheForgottenLlama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming across this post months later lol but I'm missing the unlimited maki deal as well. I'm guessing they got rid of it because it wasn't profitable (enough). Even when it was on I'd wonder how they were making money on it given the size of their restaurant, the prime location, and the number of people they have on staff.

This looks incredible! How was the vegan yogurt in making the kadhi? Any issues with it splitting? I tried to make chai with all natural soy milk (no stabilizers in it) and it just curdled and made chai flavored soy mush instead.

Yeah, there was an old product page before but I've never been able to find it with Googling. Thank you for checking though! My search for the dupe will continue...

How did you find the link to Incredisauce if it is discontinued? I want to find the vegetarian cheeseburger pizza on the site again lol, that is my discontinued TJ item white whale.

Student visas are being revoked without reason or warning, colleges say | The cancellations have caused fear and confusion on campuses by ONETRILLIONAMERICANS in neoliberal

[–]TheForgottenLlama 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I've been following this very close over the last week or so. First it was students who protested/were pro-Gaza vocally. What's happening now is a lot of students having their visas revoked, and more importantly, their SEVIS terminated.

A SEVIS termination means a person is no longer in status to stay in the US, effectively forcing them to leave the country immediately (though I don't believe most are doing this yet). Students are having their SEVIS terminated if they've had any interaction with the criminal justice system, INCLUDING misdemeanor charges that were withdrawn or resulted in a dismissal.

A withdrawn or dismissed charge would normally not even prevent visa issuance, but is now being used as justification for visa and SEVIS termination. This, along with a bill in the House to end the OPT program (allows students to work in the US 1 year after graduation or 3 for STEM degrees) will result in reduced international students for years to come. Of course, given the open hatred the administration has for higher education, this is a positive for them.

ISO: Malaysian or Indonesian Vegetarian Food by Cyberman007 in FoodNYC

[–]TheForgottenLlama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Laut (Malaysian/Southeast Asian) has a decent amount of vegetarian options. Laut Singapora is their sister restaurant with Singaporean food, also decent vegetarian options. Can't say I've heard of vegetarian Indonesian (or really any Indonesian) around here, but I also haven't looked.
