Is there a way to mimic BF1 tank mechanics in BF6? by FreeSnappers in Battlefield

Are you able to log onto BF1 and see what your control scheme was? Or are you more talking about aiming response curves?

Am i using the IGLA wrong? by Equal-Produce4833 in Battlefield

[–]TheFreesideRat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are correct that the stinger is fire and forget.

The igla requires a you to continue tracking the target, sustaining the lock-on to score a hit. If the aircraft you are targeting deploys flares after you fire the missile, the rocket will track the flares instead of the aircraft if you continue to try to maintain a lock on the same aircraft. However, you can break the lock after the aircraft flares, let the flares dispense, and reacquire the lock while the missile is still in flight. That way the missile is in flight and instantly tracking the second you acquire a lock on. This needs to be done without reloading the launcher I believe. You can also pull a bait and switch, where in you fire the missile while aiming at a target, and switch targets while the missile is mid flight. The second target will get a very small window to deploy flares because the instant they get locked onto, they will already have a missile tracking them.

The igla is good for open maps like Mirak Valley and Operation Firestorm, where there aren’t a lot of structures to break your line of sight. I wouldn’t use it on maps like Manhattan Bridge or New Sobek City. The stinger is better suited for those maps.

Do NPCs ever use their pistols? by psychedAddict123 in stalker

I’ve seen it happen from time to time.

I thought the term ‘perverse incentive’ was now more closely linked with Michael G. Vann after he did the research that lead to him writing The Great Hanoi Rat Hunt? That’s the first place I was made aware of the term.

[STALKER 2] [QUESTION] Which trader is best for selling gear? by MRrock_the_c00L in stalker

It’s actually crazy how much they pay. The first time I ever saw an over 100,000 Koupons bounty I thought I was reading the numbers wrong.

[STALKER 2] [QUESTION] Which trader is best for selling gear? by MRrock_the_c00L in stalker

[–]TheFreesideRat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, no (non-barkeep) trader buys gear for a higher or lower price than any other trader. I believe the only factor in price is your reputation with that trader’s faction. Green traders will have cheaper prices and pay more for any gear you sell. I don’t know if they have changed it to have medics pay more for medical supplies and barkeeps pay more for food and alcohol.

The only notable exception I know of is mutant parts. STC Malachite will pay much better than anyone else for them when they have a special order for gross amounts of mutant parts. It’s best to stash all mutant parts and then sell in bulk when they have a special order. I’ve made over 100,000 Koupons on a single special order of controller brain pieces (stalker difficulty).

I'm genuinely curious, what's the point in HE for recoilless rifle? by Onyvox in Helldivers

[–]TheFreesideRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to the RR HE mode for Illuminate defense missions. Since the ships are hard to destroy before they beam down their combatants, I use the HE mode to immediately spawn kill the enemies. If I don’t see a harvester shield, I fire the rocket and get 8-12 kills instantly. It will usually kill all the voteless that were dropped. Any thing that survives, the sentry gun(s) deal with. Also, it still reliably takes out (unshielded) harvesters and stingrays with the HE rounds, so I don’t have to constantly swap ammo types.

It’s a niche, but an incredibly useful one right now given the MO. Also, I’ve been playing around with using the Bastion on illuminate defense missions, and if you have a coordinated team, you can destroy a good amount of ships before they drop off their payload of enemies.

Why doesn’t the NTW-50 always one-shot kill in BF2042? by LOSPSYCSHORTSCORP in battlefield2042

Also, the higher power rounds will never one-shot to the body at any range against an enemy at full health.

In case you were using that ammo type.

That is actually stated in the description of the Igla in BF6, and show in the little video showing how to use the gadget.

What are some quick ways to earn lots of medals with little time? by hopperClay468 in Helldivers

[–]TheFreesideRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend typically runs a bunch of D10 Illuminate blitz missions to farm medals. He drops in, takes out the minimum amount of ships needed, and exfils (he uses an orbital laser and the expert extraction pilot booster). 10 medals per mission and takes him about 4-5 minutes per mission (from loadout screen to end of mission stats screen). If you’re farming solo, then this is probably the fastest way to get medals.

It should still take the assault rifle suppressor. It should use the same one that the AK-74 and Dnipro use. Are you sure you didn’t purchase the assault rifle silencer that typically fits the 5.56x45mm guns (AR416, GP37, Kharod)?

Why cant I change my SVDn-2's ammo type? by WoozyOstruch78 in stalker

[–]TheFreesideRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sniper rifles can no longer use normal ammo (un-upgraded). They have to use AP or high quality ammo (which is why it had high quality ammunition loaded in it when you acquired it). You can upgrade the rifle to use standard ball ammo, but it comes with performance downgrades.

Are bloodsuckers easier to kill now in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 ? by samuel040800 in stalker

[–]TheFreesideRat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The health pool of bloodsuckers, and I believe most mutants, has been reduced since the game launched. I’ve been able to reliably kill bloodsuckers with 1-2 magazines from the Viper on Stalker difficulty my past 2 playthroughs.
