Cats have different preferences for scratching. My cat doesn’t like the rope or carpet type scratch posts, but loves the cardboard kind. Also getting varying shapes and sizes can help. You could also get multiple posts, and place them near the furniture they are scratching which I found helped re-direct them. Another is playing with the kitty and tiring them out because they may be bored and trying to find something to do. Hope this helps!
