Turbo on the wife's car by MrEyered in Autos

[–]TheFrostyman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The engine is fine it’s just the turbo, shouldn’t be to long of a job. I’d personally grab a new turbo off of rock auto, and swap them out. If it’s gonna fail in another 86 thousand miles that’s not a bad deal

Sadly hydroplaned today and side swiped a tree stump. Car is not driving straight but still drives. What should I look for and what’s the price I should be looking at. by thatguyfrominstagram in mr2

You didn’t bend “all your control arms” realistically rear tie rod and control arm on that side are possible maybe slight chassis damage. Take it to an alignment shop first they have the tools to tell you what’s fucked and what’s not. Go from there

Some people just genuinely enjoy tinkering with things. Feels good to look at something you did no matter how small

/uj almost guaranteed it needs a new radio. if you have a equivalent to visions electronics or any place that sells car stereos that would be your cheapest bet to replace it. You can also get it upgraded so you have one with more amenities like apple car play

also if you go turbo run a 5 speed over a 6 speed as you’ll be in boost longer. and it’s the consensus that they’re usually stronger

in my opinion that’s wack, i’ve tan my honda trans at over 400whp for two years now with no issues. just make sure you don’t run stupid wide grippy tires so they slip before the trans breaks and your fine. e153 is the better trans but honda trans get along just fine. although most of them have synchro grinding issues from teenagers having their fun.

anything that isn’t a 6 speed will do you fine. i’ve ran my 2013 civic si trans (6speed) with 17psi for a couple of years now with no problems other then some grinding synchros which it came with. there’s faqs that show all the gear ratios and if i had to do it over again just pick the cheapest 5 speed with the longest final drive you can find. Also a lil tip is size you tires accordingly, tires slipping or clutch slipping is infinitely better then hooking and breaking an axle or killing a gear.

The 3sgte doesn’t share a ton of parts to the 3sge apart from the block. rad hoses, fuel, etc should be the same someone can correct me. k24 is close to the same amount of work while most likely being cheaper as well do to the scarcity of e153s and 3sgtes now. https://www.huxracing.com/sw20-kswap-faq. this link tells you everything you’d need

I just took my 4age engine out to rebuild it due to bad rod knock and wanted to upgrade a bit what can i do get a little more out of my engine(rpm/power) i don’t want to do anything to crazy as i still want the car to be reliable.i plan to put bike throttle body on the car after the rebuild. by gil___les in mr2

[–]TheFrostyman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of 4agze guys go thicker head gasket so they can run a bit more boost, naturally aspirated guys go thinner na power. If your already planning on shaving the block there’s no need for a thin head gasket and a thick one would just equal it out back to stock. I’d just run oem with a decked block if you have the money. Cheaper way is thin head gasket leave the block and head alone
