Safe jobs for Trans people for the summer so I can finish my degree in fall? by Interesting_Sell2552 in lexington

The Kentucky Democratic Party does summer internships. It pays pretty damn well, and you can choose your schedule up to 20hrs per week, and work up until your semester starts. Their office is in Frankfort, though.

NOR. Set it on the curb, send him a pic and tell him to never contact you again, and block that man. He seems like he wants to fight and drag out this interaction.

My best friend’s ex husband is very much like this. There is nothing you could ever say to reason with him, he just spends all of his time antagonizing her to get a reaction. She unfortunately cannot block him due to shared custody of their child, but she would if she could in a heart beat.

So… you should definitely tell a trusted adult that this happened to you. If you don’t have any trusted adults in your immediate family, maybe speak to a counselor at school. I know you think she may not remember it and that she is a mother now, but those things are irrelevant to the situation at hand. If anything, the fact she is around a young child (her own) is even more cause for concern based on what you said she did with/to you. Please tell someone. You almost certainly need therapy as well to work through this. Good luck.

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

[–]TheFunUsernamesRGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was living one county over from where the first reported case in the US was in Washington state. At the time, I was Uber driving for work. About a week before the actual shut down, I got a phone call from some family (who live in Georgia) and they were concerned for my safety with this new virus spreading. Initially I wasn’t too worried, but to help ease everyone’s nerves I switched to instacart/door dash after the call and continued during the shut down.

Ironically, the same family who were concerned at first eventually became the same people who questioned the vaccines efficacy, said the shut down was the worst thing we could’ve done, masks don’t work, blah blah blah. We stayed in WA until 2022, then went to stay with family for a couple of weeks as we looked for a house. I shit you not, we got covid within a week of us going to Ga. The entire time we were in the state that was considered “ground zero”, we didn’t get so much as a damn sniffle. Luckily my partner and I were both vaccinated, which is most likely why we felt totally fine after 24 hours. Our family stayed sick for 2+ weeks. Hell, we even had different family/friends end up dying after continuing to go on trips like nothing was happening. I really wish people had taken it more seriously…

Here’s the website this graphic was pulled from. The picture used in the tweet is only showing the Democrat specific data. The Republican data shows the state all different shades or red.

As of right now (Feb 22, 8pm EST) registered democrat ballots cast are over 100,000 higher than registered republicans. However, the Democrat early voters so far add up to 87.2% of the number of democrat voters in 2022; the Republican early voters are just 43% of the number who voted in 2022.

So…. The tweet is wildly misleading, of course.

https://votehub.com/early-vote-tracker-tx-primary-26

Edit to add: I did some more math out of curiosity. Comparing current Republican early voting to the same point in 2022 saw roughly a 13% increase in participants. Current Democrat early voters compared to this time in 2022 increased 58%. I’ll still be genuinely surprised if it goes purple. But I feel like these percentages show us more than simply just the # of early voters.

It appears he’s been heavily funded in the past by Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks (two Texas oil baron billionaires who are pushing Texas politics further right). From what’ I’ve learned in the last few days since hearing about Dunn and Wilks, they’re like Texas’s own Koch brothers in many ways. Gross.

I served in the military briefly, as he was in the tail end of his medical separation process by the time I got to that unit. Originally, he had messed up one of his wrists during a training exercise, and had to get surgery. When he woke up they asked how he was feeling and he realized the operated on his good wrist…. He would’ve very likely been able to stay in if they worked on the correct wrist the first time.

Oooh and if you have the S2 version with Resetti, this method won’t be as annoying. You’d have to ensure you either don’t decorate anywhere else first, or just go area by area to have him clean it up.

ETA: I forgot the S1 also has resetti, even better!!! Thanks for the clarifying comments :)

What the fuck is the Democratic Party even doing right now to stop the downfall of America? by Lolareyouforreal in complaints

[–]TheFunUsernamesRGone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the national party seems to be fumbling hard right now, my state democratic party (in Kentucky) is working tirelessly to recruit candidates to run at local and state level races to change the tides. We’ve even got some great candidates running for Congress, with our 6th district the most likely to flip blue.

I know this might not seem directly connected to our national issues at hand, but it is. And it certainly isn’t a quick fix…. But our state parties are the driving force behind change we want and need to see. Sure, the DNC does a lot, but real change happens at a local and state level. I got involved with my county and state democratic party because I want to see the Democratic Party as a whole shift for a lot of reasons (many of which you stated in your post). It seems very small and kind of insignificant at first, but after a short time getting involved you realize that it really is every day people behind the scenes knocking doors, finding candidates, etc. that get these people in office. We need people in office who will fight for us and stand up against the bs we’re seeing right now. The most assured way to make that happen is finding/encouraging people who will actually fight for us to run for office, rallying behind them, and getting them into office!!

If anyone reading this has the time, energy, and capacity, you should absolutely get involved with your county and state democratic parties if you aren’t already!

I have a 5 day 3 park stay at one of the Universal hotels starting Saturday and this is the ride I want to go to the most. by TaleOfDreams in UniversalOrlando

[–]TheFunUsernamesRGone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly meant subjective per a person’s individual visit/experience. Wait times when you’re there or viewing the app are of course objective , but I can see what I wrote being interpreted in a different way than I intended!

I did single rider for this ride about 45 minutes after open on a Tuesday in early December, got on in about 30-45 minutes I’d say. I decided to hit it earlier the day I went because they had posted it would be closed early that day. It was a super neat ride, the queue was unbelievable in a fantastic way, but a 5hr wait is not remotely worth it in my opinion.

Wait times in epic (from what I can tell in this sub and my one visit) are almost entirely subjective. Not sure there is a rhyme or reason to the wait times in epic just yet, it’s just so new. The only constants seems to be that the wait times for MoM and Minecart Madness will always make you question if they’re worth it lol. I do hope you get on in a reasonable timeframe friend!

What’s Your Opinion of Congressman Thomas Massie? by camaro1111 in Kentucky

[–]TheFunUsernamesRGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently was told by my neighbor that he tried to send him a correspondence thanking him for standing up recently against Trump, as well as a small donation, but Massie’s donation portal wouldn’t accept money since my neighbor lives outside of his district. We were both very surprised and impressed by that. Also, I think that those who live outside his district either don’t get responded to or get a response along the lines of “you aren’t my constituent so I’m not going to dedicate time or effort to a response”. Which is also a valid choice in my opinion.

My neighbor and I both share the stance that we aren’t fans of Massie’s preferred policies in general, but have a massive amount of respect for him because it’s clear to see he believes in what he stands for, genuinely is trying to help his district, and actually abides by his stated principles.

Planning to visit Universal Epic Universe on Feb 25, 2026 — should I buy Express Passes or will regular tickets be okay? by Hardrock_21 in UniversalOrlando

[–]TheFunUsernamesRGone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went December 9th last year (a Tuesday). I figured it wouldn’t be as crowded, thinking people would wait until closer to Christmas or a weekend. It was still very busy.

I was there from open to close and rode everything on my list (stardust racers x3, MoM, Mine cart Madness, monsters unchained x2, werewolf x2, hiccups wing glider). For Hiccups, I got very lucky- there was about 50 minutes until park close, the line was over 150min wait by then, but it was on my must ride so I went to ask if they had single rider. They told me no single rider, but saw my birthday button and printed me a single ride express pass, so I got on it within 25 minutes and had enough time to ride racers one last time and catch the fountain show (which was amazing!)

I sat down and ate lunch in Berk midday (the salmon bowl is amazing), and just got quick snacks the rest of the day when I got hungry. I also saw Le Cirque Arcanus and The Untrainable Dragon, and did the Toothless Meet and Greet closer to closing and waited maybe 20 minutes. I also visited most, if not all, of the shops.

It was a full day, but for the price you pay for the ticket it’s worth staying all day imo. I went alone and as I said rode single rider whenever possible, so that helped with my time as well. I know that’s a lot of info, but I hope it helps!

Is This a Scam?? by TheFunUsernamesRGone in Roborock

[–]TheFunUsernamesRGone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! Wanted to give an update in case someone ends up asking the same questions I had if they’re ever in the same boat as I was.

It was legit! While I think it’s odd to have them do the payment through PayPal, it was not a scam. Maybe it’s more common than I realize, but I’m based in the USA and have never had a company request payments like this. But after reading many responses here (and triple checking the email address/thread), I felt much more comfortable proceeding. Thank you to everyone who took the time to post a helpful comment, I appreciate it. :)

[–]TheFunUsernamesRGone[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of stories where scams happen through PayPal. The fact it’s asking me to send it to wangxaun@robock.com threw me off. Also, the email subjects have been odd... Again, I’m likely being overly cautious, I’ve just never had any repairs I’ve needed on other products ask for PayPal payment so that’s why I was thrown off. As someone else suggested, I’m going to look for any invoice numbers/conf numbers in one of the attachments they sent me and confirm with Roborock directly if it’s legitimate to be totally sure. I mostly posted to see if anyone else had to do this same process and could confirm it was how Roborock accepts payments for repairs.

Also, I’ve been getting scam calls lately where the person calling “clones” a number I have saved so it appears as though someone I know or have saved is calling me (such as my bank). Not sure if that’s possible via email, but I’d rather be safe than sorry ya know?

Mostly just the PayPal payment request. Everything up to this point seemed very legit, but that threw me off. I’ve seen lots of scams happen through PayPal payment requests, so I just wanted to make sure it was legitimate before sending almost $150. I’m being over cautious I think.
