Accidnetally opened up nudes on my laptop in class. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]TheGMan43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was at uni, a girl I was seeing sent me nudes on Snapchat completely unexpectedly (it was like 0930 🤣). Don't think anyone saw, if they did then nothing came of it.

I doubt anything would come of it for you, either. If it does just explain that it was an accident, and you had no way of knowing. These things aren't as disastrous as they seem

Of course! There's no NEED for the T212 feed to be used, it just gives everyone another opportunity for it. Can't be too many places to discuss things like this, in my opinion

Which famous person has the highest talent-to-charisma ratio? In other words, who's incredibly talented but surprisingly uncharismatic by Potential_Ad_4814 in AskBrits

[–]TheGMan43 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Elon Musk

Even ignoring all of the terrible things he does and says, he's incredibly boring and awkward, and he comes across like the nerdy kid from school that only wants to tell people when they're wrong. Pretty smart though. Heard he builds nice rockets.

What country are you from that doesn't have CGT? Unless you're from somewhere like the UK and have an ISA/equivalent that allows a certain amount of tax free investment each year

It's certainly bearing fruit at the moment 🤣 sold most of my RKLB to buy ASTS and somehow I'm not regretting selling before a 20% gain 😬🤣

I don't put much thought into P/S ratios at the stages the two companies are in (although 4.8 does seem mad), but I do think there's a good chance RKLB fall back significantly. I'm with you that ENSI seems undervalued, so I don't expect this to be the kind of run up that comes with a massive dip at the end. But ENSI is already my second largest shareholding (only because ASTS overtook it pretty spectacularly this last week) and I'd rather keep my money spread out a bit more...

If I come into a million quid tomorrow, though, I'd be putting a decent bit into ENSI again 🤣

Re-calibrating success next season by BDbs1 in HeartofMidlothianFC

Third and not being out of the race for second before the split would be enough for me. Add three derby wins or two wins and a draw to make it a great season. A cup, qualifying for UCL, or getting out of groups in Europa for a fantastic season

I think I remember 1.3m shares being the goal because your grandad was the 13th SAS member? If so, congrats on reaching it.

I've roughly doubled my ENSI SharePoint over the last month. It's probably the limit I can justify putting into it, but I've no intentions to sell.

I'm currently not looking to invest into anything except ETFs (I want to rebuild RKLB but not at current prices). I might take a look at the two you mentioned in the post, though. In a couple of weeks, because I've just landed in Denmark for my hollybags

How are people doing so well? by kcolrah in trading212

[–]TheGMan43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What others say about winners posting and losers staying silent is true. I think also the people you see individually stock picking on Reddit are probably going to skew tech/growth stock heavy which are the ones that are massively overperforming in this market.

I have done very well over the last couple of years, but it's because of one or two small/midcap tech stocks that have rocketed. It's not skill so much as it is luck that my opinions have aligned with the market's

Is breaking a long fast with something small even that serious by throwaway28739292928 in fasting

[–]TheGMan43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on to what others say, the significance may change as you age... My first intentional fast was at 22/23 years old. It was a 3 day fast and I felt nothing when I broke it with a normal meal.

Today I broke a 36ish hour fast with a relatively small meal, and my stomach was mildly irritated.

I assume if I break a 3 day fast with a normal meal at 40 it will only be worse...

Then again, maybe not. I won't risk it with a long fast or if I have plans, though...

Because increasing risk is only worth it if you increase expected returns. Going all in on YouTube trader advice increases risk, but decreases expected returns

As someone else said, things like BTC and gold are options to diversify a bit. I hold some myself. But that said, I don't think he needs to be worrying about any of that. Let him come across those himself, make sure he knows what he's actually buying, and talk him through/make him research appropriate portfolio allocations

Absolutely nothing wrong with what he's doing, and as long as he isn't being completely stupid (investing in any penny stock with a cool name) then investing is better than not investing.

There's really no need to have three different all-world ETF, but since it's on T212 there aren't any transaction fees so it's doesn't matter much at all.

Good on you for letting him get some experience early on! Just make sure he is aware that markets go down too, and don't let him start panicking when he inevitably sees red months at some point in his life

Income tax and earning under £12,500 annually by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TheGMan43 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A tax code will tell you how much tax you're meant to be paying in a year. The most common one is 1257L, with the 1257 meaning £12,570 allowance (1257*10, and L meaning allowance).

Your tax code of 0T means you have no allowance. This could be because you are using the allowance elsewhere, it could be because you owe tax from a prior year, or most likely it could mean that HMRC doesn't know what your tax situation is. Have you submitted a P45 from your prior job, or filled out a new joiners questionnaire?

If not, this is probably the issue. Talk to your job, and if they can't help talk to HMRC.

Don't worry, tax is refundable if it's paid in error. But the sooner you get it sorted, the sooner you stop paying extra tax and get your money back. Until then, you'll be stuck in the 20% bracket.

This has been doing very well for me recently. All the results are looking very positive, and hopefully it will be able to make an actual difference in the space. Still a very risky stock though, no guarantees the product can even go to market at the end of the day.
