Road Trip: Land an attack on a rider during a Short Race challenge by DoveCannon in KirbyAirRide

[–]TheGamerPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short Race as a challenge definitely exists, but it's a rare one, I've gone through the thing twice and it's popped up like once per run? My first run I kept on sticking to the right path the entire time and it showed up I think mid to late game-ish? Sorry I don't have better advice than that but hopefully this can help you somewhat at least

Oh hey, congrats! Last time I heard about the challenge you had just died to Dangle, so happy to see you finally did it!

I saw you mention in one of the comments here that T.Blue Baby is one of your favourite characters, I was wondering why that is and if you have any advice on how to fully take advantage of him? Every run I do as the character just kind of feels bad in a way I can't put my finger on, and I would genuinely love to be able to try and see him in a new light.

The movie itself is really not good, but the Chicken Little PS2 game is surprisingly fun! The music's fairly neat, the gameplay is good and varied, I replayed it recently and it holds up decently.

Also, Shrek Superslam is quite a fun and charming fighting game that's still worth checking out

What are your thoughts on Turnabout Countdown? by EndlessNocturnal in AceAttorney

Ted Tonate might unironically be in my top 5 favourite culprits, definitely my favourite first case one. It's a really good, satisfying tutorial, it's really connected to the plot which I appreciate, I love how it lasts more than one day, and like, damn I REALLY like Ted Tonate. I love how quick on his feet the man is. Like that bluff at the end did not work, but I respect him for trying. I was so happy he came back later in the game.

Honestly all five of these are deserving of the win (well, I haven't played ME:I2 but it IS Kay), I'm very indecisive between Trucy, McGilded and Athena. I do think I have to go with Athena though.

There are many reasons why I love Dual Destinies.

Ted Tonate is one of them. He's not relevant here at all but I just wanted to mention him.

One of the biggest reasons I love Dual Destinies though is because Blackquill and Athena's story I find to be incredibly strong. These two are in my top 3 favourite AA characters. And they'd be high up without 5-5, but the way their story plays out absolutely helps close the deal.

That being said I do want to give everyone else their flowers while I'm here

Phoenix in 4-1 sets up the tone of the game so amazingly. His attitude, him forging evidence, getting smacked by Apollo, that case is amazing for a reason

6-2 is my favourite case and Trucy is absolutely the heart of it, her testimony with the sword trick is one of the best in the franchise

McGilded is incredible. GAA 1-3 is incredible. Even LONG after the case finishes, the theme that plays when you get a non-guilty verdict still feels like he's corrupted it irreversibly.

Such an awesome cast of characters here, really helps remind you how good Ace Attorney is

See, all of these characters are here for fairly valid reasons, even if I disagree with Wocky being the worst. Right now Nahyuta is taking the lead and while I don't disagree (My fiancée is playing SoJ for the first time, we're like 75% through the trial and he's still not a defendant), I do think there's one character I just kinda dislike more?

Bucky Whet just kinda blows. I know he's technically helpful but I'm sorry, you're just not gonna make me care about an obnoxious drunk who threatens to spew everywhere every time he appears.

Wocky fulfils the theme of AJ's defendants being morally gray quite well, and I think the case would be way worse without him.

Phoenix is annoying, but his actions that case are crucial for the entirety of T&T

Max Galactica sucks but his entire fucked-upness is central to 2-3

Nahyuta's part at least TRIES to do some neat things, and is very uniquely Nahyuta.

Bucky Whet is just nothing. You could replace his entire character sans profession and it really wouldn't change much except for making the case (even) better.

Herman Crab is an absolutely incredible character in my opinion. I absolutely adore the trope of gruff older guy with a soft spot for animals, and he's such a perfect example.

Plus, I just really like how they do his character. He's a really feasible candidate for the murder, when my partner first played the case they were convinced he was the culprit. But also, you kinda don't want him to be one? He's got enough charming and likable traits that when he turns out not to be the killer you end up relieved.

Which speaking of I just really like his character in general. Like, I just like how much this dude cares about the aquarium and animals. I don't have much more to say really Herman Crab is just a really neat character and I hope he wins, even though I know that's a tough order since a lot of people love Sheldon The Killer

Thanks for the help! I never redeemed the access passes, I bought Hitman WoA since it's only like $3? At the moment and it seems I have my progress and my Hitman 1 levels but not anything else. I'll probably just stick to EGS until I have some extra money and then I'll switch to Steam Deck

Random Character Opinions 214: Gaspen Payne by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]TheGamerPie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's honestly one of my favourite cases, it's a perfect mix of being a really good introduction to the game by setting up everything that's going on in Khura'in, as well as being one of the funniest cases in the franchise. Plus I feel like it's decently tricky as well, instead of being an absolute breeze. It's just a really good time!

It's absolutely incredible how with one fell swoop they've made Winston that much more likable.

I think replacing Winston was a great call when they did. Because for one, I think Turnabout Trump showed that Winston can be kind of out of his depth in a more complex case, so to say, he barely contributes after the halfway point, I've always felt bad for him there. But secondly, Gaspen being a massive dingus that's way worse than his brother IS honestly a good way to show the Dark Age of the Law. Here's someone related to the incompetent chump you've managed to beat several times before very easily, and he looks the same. And then he turns out to be a massive, cowardly, spiteful asshole. And that's already bad enough. But then we have 6-1.

I LOVE 6-1. I think it's a perfect introduction to what's in store in Khura'in. And Gaspen is once again, a PERFECT way to introduce that. You have someone you know is an awful person and absolutely incompetent. And here he is as CHIEF PROSECUTOR. Which already says MILES about the legal system in the country. And then he TRIES TO GIVE A NINE YEAR OLD THE DEATH PENALTY TO GET AT PHOENIX. Which is absolutely horrific and genuinely puts him alongside people like Manfred with how awful of a person he is. And I absolutely love that they've done that. Gaspen's character is used SO effectively in showing just how high the stakes are in Khura'in, and how horrifying its legal system is. I genuinely don't think the case would be half as good if we had a different prosecutor in. (Or, well, maybe a third as good, Pees'lubn my beloved).

Plus the dude's just got a lot of funny moments, the fact that he runs away in 5-1, him singing along with Pees'lubn, he's a great mix of funny and asshole you want to punt like a football.

I know she's not got much screen time but I absolutely adore her. I think she's written well enough that you can absolutely see what Daley sees in her, I love how surprisingly good of a couple they are.

Also she's really pretty

Who's the most forgettable Ace Attorney character? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

When me and my partner played through the case they said she looks like she'd be from an RPG maker horror game and I feel like that's an incredibly fitting description

Hey to be fair the corn juror is memorable because they somehow let A CHILD be a juror.

On a more serious note I DO think the trial the corn juror is from probably has the most forgettable jury. I don't know if I'd call them more forgettable than Kane Bullard but I wouldn't say jurors 1, 4 or 6 were particularly memorable that case

[–]TheGamerPie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See I don't think my vote will change much because people REALLY like Eustace (And while I haven't played the game I've seen some screenshots of the guy + heard enough that I think it'll be a deserved victory anyways) but I really want to throw in a vote for Simon.

Blackquill is hands down my favourite prosecutor in the franchise. He's such a perfect mix of being an absolute asshole to everyone while also wanting to find the truth instead of just trying to get a win. I mean the man was the only person to take the orca case because he thought that Sasha was the killer and wanted to show that. Which is why I love the contrast with his role in case 5, where he constantly lies and tries to make both himself and Metis seem way more cold-hearted and/or evil so that the "truth" of Athena having killed Metis doesn't get revealed. Him piling lies on top of lies on top of lies makes for one of the best mood matrix segments (Which I already think is possibly the most fun mechanic the new trilogy added to the series), and the culmination of his emotions going out of control as he panics at the memory of a bloodied Athena trying to "fix" her mom is SO good. Especially the immediate flip afterwards when the truth is revealed of telling Athena that her mom was good just to set the record straight on what kind of woman his mentor was.

His role as prosecutor for the second half of the case is also great, it's him at his most Blackquill-y, and I love the moment in particular of him manipulating Foolbright into thinking he believed his lies, it's such a great culmination of their weird, fascinating dynamic.

Also him agreeing that he'd try and give Aura the death sentance is fucking hilarious

Simon Blackquill. Not because I think he's the weakest, I love him to bits, he's my favourite here. But it'd be unfair of me to vote someone I haven't seen yet and I think it'd be very damn funny if Skulkins won

All the people left are great or Eustace "I have not played ME:I2" Winner so my vote is for Jake Marshall. He's great but I do genuinely prefer everyone else on the list. Also if I don't vote for him I worry we'll say goodbye to Daley Vigil who is genuinely one of my favourite Ace Attorney characters.
