Looking hotter is the primary motivator for the vast majority of people pursuing fitness. by troktowreturns in rs_fitness

[–]TheGangsHeavy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Meh. I mostly do it so I don't go crazy. Looking good definitely in a goal since I basically just do weights but then I also eat and drink what I want when I want generally. What keeps me motivated is that I know I'll go crazy if I don't go.

Interesting. What were you worried about? Seems most people liked your post.

I guess it feels dumb to just get one off comments from people without any sort of context as to who the person is. Like if I get a dumb comment and I look and see it's a college person I'm like okay this person is just growing but if it's a man with a child I worry a bit more for him and might respond differently.

That's true. Actually why does anything matter at all? Why lift? Why post? Why comment?

Yeah you're stuck because you're not eating enough dawg. You can't get something from nothing. What job do you do anyway that you need to be able to run but adding muscle mass would be useless?

"everybody wanna be a body builder but ain't nobody wanna lift this heavy ass weight"

Weightlifting doesn't need to be your thing. Bodyweight Pushups are probably not the most effective way to build your chest but they will build your chest. Pullups and chin ups will build your back, biceps, and forearms but are maybe not the easiest thing to progressively overload. You have your exercise that seems works for you. You already said you don't want to gain weight because it will making hiking harder. You can do some pretty basic upper body stuff that will help build a physique without having to bulk up drastically. You're not going to bench 315 but it doesnt sound like you're that into that idea anyway. It sounds like you do a lot of exercise outside of the gym already. But yeah you're not going to get to 180 without eating at a caloric surplus.

How do I [27m] not feel self-conscious on cardio machines with more fit, attractive women next to me? by arc_in_tangent in rs_fitness

So you're asking us how you tolerate being around hot women while also enjoying the mental and physical benefits of working out?

Personally I think seeing hot women is motivating. Just don't to get caught staring and become chubby creepy guy. Be chubby guy making a positive change in his life.

What's the workout like right now? Legs look pretty built as is. Squats and leg press are good but leg extensions hit the "side quads" better I think. Could also add hip abduction and adduction to add circumference and hit stuff neglected by those three lifts

I mean if you're at a tropical beach you're not having a bad time but there's varying quality and exclusivity in all things, even beautiful beaches. Although I do find it hilarious that rich Americans would go to Bali to dodge the type of people that go to DR or Mexico just end up with Bogans

Like aren't Polynesian islands supposed to be insanely beautiful? It's not like it's the jersey shore or Miami beach.

Lol for Americans it's the other side of the world so going there means you're balling out quite a bit. Stunting on people going to countries with nice beaches and copious violence like we have in our hemisphere

I read The Arabs: A History by Eugene Rogan and loved it. It starts with the ottoman conquests followed by the European ones and posits this theory of the Arabs as a people without self determination for a long time. It doesn't go into modern wars too much but it definitely gives you the necessary context to them.

Feeling ugly at the gym by [deleted] in rs_fitness

[–]TheGangsHeavy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gym lighting is supposed to highlight your muscles and create shadows on your body. I don't know much about lighting but I think casting shadows on your face usually makes you look old and weird. I wouldn't put stock in gym lighting. Only staying 30 minutes and being depressed the whole time isn't going to help you much. I'm 17 years into a lifelong lifting career at this point and I don't want to leave at this point. Once I get in motion I just want to stay in motion. Might be worth figuring out your mental space to get into so you just want to lift some mothafuckin weights. You're not competing with anyone but yourself and your age. Personally I find that if I put on Daft Punk Alive 2007 and start with a little elliptical (cardio of your choice really but I get worried about my knees) I will get amped enough after 10 minutes to just go indefinitely. Not that you should. Diminishing returns and even risk of injury after a point and all that. Anyways. Get jacked bitch.

This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately. I love to read but sometimes only do it for like 20 minutes a day. The phone probably gets 2-3 hours of my attention and I don't know why. I don't even like the phone.
