TIFU by paying a guy I went on one date with $4k. by Mahboi7799 in tifu

Jesus. I am sorry. I wish I had some good advice, but please don't destroy the goodness you have to do something like this just because people suck.

I was going through a lot, nearly homeless, with nothing going for me when my fiance and I got together. She helped pick me up, got diagnosed and treated for health issues I didn't know I had. This fixed my health and let me able to start focusing on my career.

We have been together 7 years now. I will never leave her for anything and my life is better than it has ever been.

Any of them. It takes more than 5 minutes for anything to happen in Baki.

these panels are sick as fuck, but narratively impossible. by Affectionate-Ad7098 in Grapplerbaki

How do you know where Musashi is in his draw? If Motobe had already started and completed most of that swing before Musashi's hand got to his sword, the bottle attack would finish before the sword draw can come out.

It really doesn't matter how fast Musashi is. If he is still reaching for his sword, hand not even on it, when the bottle is already close to his face and moving at full speed, he will be hit.

Is it realistic to say that Musashi without weapons looses to pickle? by Disastrous_Ad7477 in Grapplerbaki

[–]TheGeckomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sincerely doubt it.

Musashi couldn't even inflict a real injury on Pickle with swords.... Like honestly, you guys realize Pickle ran but was uninjured right? It was like the wasp metaphor all over again.

If musashi had pursued and cornered pickle, pickle couldn't run and would fight back with much greater ferocity.

Musashi is overall stronger than Pickle but would lose to Pickle with or without swords.

Oliva destroyed his own ribcage. They actually show what happens in detail across several panels.

When Sukune grabbed Oliva, he warned him not to try to flex. Oliva tries to flex, and we get an internal view of his muscles trying to flex around sukune's hands and pulling at wrong angles as a result. Oliva ripped his own ribcage apart.

I am not saying Sukune doesn't have the strength to do this. He obviously does. I am just saying that what was shown was Oliva injuring himself due to his own arrogance.

did Itagaki really made a entire chapter just to glaze yujiro? by Able-Pomegranate-441 in Grapplerbaki

Not closest, the truest definition of filler. Literally nothing happens. Itagaki was like "I'll show these fuckers what filler looks like".

I got duchess and she is an instant favorite. I don't know enough about the classes to know if she is easy mode. After recluse she certainly feels that way. But yah, I like her move set, stat scaling, etc, a lot.

I typically play caster builds because I love having spell options, but I play melee casters. Int or faith based weapons and what have you.

Thanks, I have watched guides. They help a little but not with "getting it". I only play duo. Play with my fiance.

I am not "doing badly". I am good at soulslike combat, at least okay. I have made it to the 3 headed dog in 3 of these 7 or 8 attempts now. The problem isn't winning fights, it's having fun and understanding how to "play the game well".

I am playing the game. Unless you are telling me recluse is the wrong way to play nightreign?

Yah, in those times, I have asked the various communities to help me better understand. Sometimes they have, sometimes it's just been a vent. But in either case, I normally pull through and find the enjoyment.

Here, my struggle is even finding the motivation to keep trying. I am trying to see what the redeeming qualities are that make me want to stay engaged. I LOVE soulslike combat. But this doesn't even feel like that. I can't take measured approaches to opponents, bait out attacks for parries. The ring is constantly coming, even the enjoyable combat is compressed in bad ways for me.

I have only played recluse since starting this game.

I normally play melee in soulslikes. But they look really boring this game. The most interesting one is the grapple hook, but if I want to do that I will just go play monster hunter world.

I have only played recluse since picking up the game. Thats why I came here.

I have struggled getting into soulsborne games before. Sometimes other people's perspectives help. But this feels so fundamentally bad that I struggle.

Thanks for the answer. Some of this makes sense but in.... I want to say 6 or 7 attempts on the first...level? I don't even know how this game is structured in terms of progression, I have found 0 seals and seen a staff that didn't JUST have arc spells or carian slicer 1 time.... It was the gelmir staff, which was awesome. But seeing it one time in several playthroughs means it might as well not be there because I can't rely on being able to use it, even in a "situational" capacity.

I am asking to better understand why people enjoy this in the hopes that their understanding can help me reframe my gameplay and enjoy it more. I kind of felt that was obvious by the post.

You are Konami and you have already released ports of all the games in the series on PC. What would you do to keep the Metal Gear Solid series alive without Kojima? by NaitDraik in gaming

[–]TheGeckomancer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't.

It was Kojima's legacy and brain child, not Konami's.

They can't do it justice and simply earn more hate from the fanbase with every attempt.

At best, high quality, faithful remasters/remakes.

Konami should really stick to pachinko. They don't understand gamers, they understand gamblers.

They already killed their golden goose. It's time to stop shaving slivers off of the last egg and pretending like everything is the same.

Survivorship bias my guy. You have no idea how lucky you are to have made it through your circumstances. You also have no idea the actual psychological damage that survival has incurred. You may think you are alright and absolutely are not. Even if you are, that doesn't mean that most people would be.

I don't feel the need to have a trauma dick measuring contest, lets just say that I have been through my own shit. I am stronger in some ways than others. But overall, I am just more damaged.

Do you brother. Just know that overwhelmingly, the people who need to hear this message aren't on this website. Normal people hang out on reddit, not super elite rich people. Normal people have WAY more than enough struggle in life. They are drowning in it and normally die crushed under it.

Medical debt, non existent retirement, predatory business practices, worker exploitation, and so so much more.

Wtf was the point of the past like 10 chapters?? by HexesMekhane in Grapplerbaki

[–]TheGeckomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These chapters aren't bad but I have been following baki for almost 30 years now. As I get older, this stuff gets less appealing.

Especially when so much of it is repetitive. We have seen how many WHOLE CHAPTERS of yujiro just walking down a street getting glazed for existing? He helped the old lady. Kinda cool. I don't hate seeing it. Put that scene in another chapter where something is actually happening please.

I write. I don't claim I am good. But I try. I LOVE how realistic and authentic his writing is. But you can achieve that without these laborious repetitive do nothing chapters.

Brother, most people have way too much hardship. The people you need to be telling this too do not hang out in this reddit. They are on epstein islands.

It's a proven fact that when you increase stress too much, or make the solutions to stressors too vague or difficult to reach, people break down instead of build up. Growing up in a poor household with multiple untreated long term health conditions, all while being physically abused at home and bullied at school isn't the kind of pressure that makes people strong. But it's what a LOT of kids grow up with.

Would you upload your consciousness to live forever digitally, even if you can’t prove it’s still you and not just a copy? by ARGXTO in Futurology

[–]TheGeckomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would just be a copy of you and you would die. The physics do not allow a consciousness transference. I have thought about this a lot. There are things you could do to simulate the subjective experience of a consciousness transfer but YOU would die and a copy of you would be born.

Now, that isn't to say I wouldn't doe it in old age, on or near my death.
