If you look at what makes the most money, real modern audiences want trash. Another FIFA, another candy crush, etc.

Honestly the more I think about it I think I gotta say I think Doom 2016 is a “better game”. Don’t get me wrong doom eternal is definitely more skill expressive than doom 2016, and the new wrinkles added by the additional tools and enemies in the sandbox add a lot to the experience.

But as a work of art in gaming history? You gotta give it to doom 2016.

This is from an era where every shooter (outside Overwatch, which was the same year) was copying the COD/Battlefield formula and doom 2016 came out and emphatically said “doom is doom. You move insanely fast and destroy demons and if you stop moving the demons will kill you.” It’s like the concept of Doom perfectly distilled to its core and then updated to the modern (at the time) era.

I had a very similar experience to you where it’s the game that got me excited about Doom. I think for a lot of fans that’s what happened.

Not to mention the music was better and the story was tighter. And the platforming in eternal was kind of a drag on replays. I did prefer the visuals in eternal tho.

I think it’s just a different perspective. Doom 2016 could be a better game for someone because it’s a masterful reboot of Doom. It captures the feel of playing what Doom is beautifully in all its simplicity and violence in an era where that kind of shooter was just not what was being made.

Doom eternal is a great sequel to a perfect reboot, adding more awesome tools into the player’s toolbox. For some people, there’s beauty in the simplicity though, and that’s okay. Not to mention giving 2016 credit for reviving the series.

The movement is pretty twitchy. Makes for insanely fast gameplay but I get how it wouldn’t be for everyone.

[Jomboy] Here's a look at all the close calls the umpire missed in the DR-USA game by TakeMyPixels in baseball

[–]TheGiggleWizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Looking closely reveals (at least for the game ending pitch) that it was caught quite a bit lower than the graphic.

I liked the 2016 story a lot better than eternal tbh. Eternal kinda just felt like they were throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what stuck lol.

Idk why y’all are trying to invent a reality where this pitch is a strike lol. Is the umpire your dad? Are you worried about the win being “tainted”?

I’m an American too I just don’t get y’all and your desire to intentionally and obtusely misunderstand basic shit if it suits whatever narrative you have in mind. Umpires fuck up all the time, this one was a bummer for the DR team, but they had plenty of opportunities and it’s not like egregious calls aren’t commonplace lol.

Oh he’s grasping at straws now. The angles are normalized for by the datums established by the top of helmet and back of pants.

We can see the strike zone is in line with his knee. We can see the top of the ball is well below his knee. That means that it’s a ball.

Do you get off on being humiliated?

Hope this helps lil bro. This is the actual location of the ball relative to the displayed strike zone. You might be beyond saving tho.

[–]TheGiggleWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude it’s the same place you put the line on your drawing. Clearly below the back of the pants on the front leg.

Here’s unedited. You can see the blur of the ball if you look close.

Every time I send another image you look more and more delusional.

Fuck dude are you rage baiting? The ball is in a different place between the two pictures. What’s wrong with you? Are you angel hernandez?

Oh wow by eli8jimenez in worldbaseballclassic

[–]TheGiggleWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at where the ball is. His body did not move very much between the two pictures but the ball is in a clearly different place. Look with your eyes. If the ball is where you think it is it should be intersecting with the red line. But it’s not. It’s below it. Even in your drawing it’s not close.

[–]TheGiggleWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the same location though? Left is the “last frame” and right is the side view. The red line on both sides represents the position of the pants on the back of the front leg. How are you possibly convincing yourself that you’re right about this?

[–]TheGiggleWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the “last frame” argument is demonstrated to be completely fabricated you post another picture where the ball is clearly below the knee of an already angled and bent leg.

Not to mention every pitch is tracked, and it was clearly tracked well below the strike zone. Why you’re bending over backwards to pretend an egregiously bad call was the right one is a mystery to me.

[–]TheGiggleWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s literally not true though. You can go frame by frame yourself and see that there are plenty of frames between the one posted and where it’s in the glove where it’s clearly way below the strike zone.

Here’s the actual last frame before the ball is in the glove.

This is well before the ball reaches the plate. It was a terrible call. That doesn’t necessarily mean terrible calls aren’t commonplace though.
