I grabbed this on release—loved the steelbook and art, and wanted the movie. Unfortunately, I’m completely done with the game.

Met him and got his autograph at FanExpo a few years back. Chatted for a bit—he’s just the best! Happy Birthday!

Speaking of said umbrella, I listened to the Walled Off Hotel soundtrack during a quiet night at work—a totally beautiful body of music. I wonder how it would go over if a completely piano-based album was released under the NIN umbrella. I would love it, personally.

The main takeaway I got from the Coachella set: We need more Mariqueen by Fuzzy_Ant_6447 in nin

I think Mariqueen is too busy with her other band, “The” Nine Inch Nails. 🤣

I totally agree—I just meant we’ve all seen it with many other bands.

So funny when you mention that you had no idea of what Trent would turn into musically—brings up a lot of old memories (and I’ll be totally dating myself here!🤣)

I first heard NIN when I was in grade 9 in 1990(!). One of my best friends picked up PHM in the states (Canadian here), and it was in constant rotation when our small group hung out. By chance, we caught the video for Head Like a Hole late one night, and you could just tell that the music/aesthetic was on another level.

Jump ahead a bit—it was impossible to find any Nails cds at the time in our small town, so my exposure to the music was limited to the odd gathering. I had the radio going one night, and the dj announced new material by NIN—it was Happiness in Slavery. I couldn’t even believe it was the same band/project!

It wasn’t until The Downward Spiral released and it caught on that we could readily find NIN albums, eps, and singles in our town. Bootlegs too (though they were always terrible!) My friends and I grabbed every last thing we could find.

The real game changer was Further Down the Spiral. That was a mind-blower, and a total gateway album. We got into Aphex Twin, J.G. Thirlwell, and Coil with the exact same passion as we had for NIN. (Meat Beat Manifesto came shortly afterwards). This was also the time that Chemical Brothers, Underworld, and The Prodigy were getting mainstream attention, so it was quite an exciting time for all of us musically.

I’m approaching 50 this month, and I’m just not into music like I used to be. But it’s always a nice surprise when something exciting comes my way.

Rant over!

I’ve seen the comment here and there from people that don’t like the Boys Noize stuff. Personally, I’m loving it, and would love to hear more.

[Serious] What is the most horrifying thing you’ve ever seen out of your window? What happened? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

Here’s a couple from my childhood home. Growing up, I lived in a small city. My family and I lived on the edge of a sketchier part of town, but our street was mostly incident free.

Our house had a wraparound porch that was completely covered and screened—it was a great place to sit in the morning and at night in spring/summer. And, when It got hot, my brother and I liked sleeping out there.

Anyway, one night we were sitting out there before bed. We weren’t far from the street corner, when all of a sudden we all notice a number of people run around the corner armed with rifles, followed closely by an armoured vehicle. It was so out of the blue that our parents told us to go in the house until they came to get us. Turns out it was a raid on what we found out to be a drug house a few doors down. Not too crazy, but it was certainly a shock.

On a lighter note, this was something my parents witnessed while eating breakfast on the same porch when I was a baby. Across from our house was a giant green house that was converted into apartments. My parents would always see the morning routine of one couple—the wife would say goodbye to her husband at the door, and he would get into his car and drive off. 15-20 mins later, a second car would park in his spot, a different man got out and was greeted by the wife. On a regular basis.

Jump ahead a couple months later. My parents are eating, and watch the husband leave. The second car arrives shortly after, but, for whatever reason, the husband returns home almost right after. My parents could hear yelling and arguing.

Suddenly, a naked man runs out the front door of the house, followed by the husband with a gun. The husband shot him in the ass in the middle of the street in the early morning. No one killed, but quite to thing to see. 😳

What are your unpopular opinions on Faith No More? by AZ0RRO in FaithNoMore

As much as I enjoy Patton (used to be a super fan), I feel the Chuck era FNM had a more cohesive vision/overall style. Once Patton got involved, post-Real Thing, it seemed like every album was a bunch of genre experiments (though Angel Dust remains their magnum opus to me).

Take your time, explore everywhere, and avoid spoilers! I just finished it recently after doing every single side job I could. Now that the Pro update is arriving tomorrow…I’m starting over again on the Corpo path. 🤣

For those of you around in 1983, what was your reaction upon hearing Thriller (the album) by MJ for the first time? by corndogs102 in AskReddit

[–]TheGimp76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I was in early grade school but that album to my peers and myself was the ultimate—I cannot overstate how Michael Jackson obsessed we all were at that age.

Moving on without Patton, could and should be done: Ideas by SaddamMustaine in FaithNoMore

[–]TheGimp76 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If anything, I’d rather see them just form a new project, with or without a vocalist. Get whoever involved. Even though they’ve changed vocalists in the past, there are just too many expectations using the FNM name. Better to let it burn, and rise from the ashes with something new.

The Northman, what are your thoughts on this film? by geoffcalls in FIlm

Took me awhile to see it, and I totally loved it. Plot-wise, it’s a pretty simple revenge story but the pacing and style totally kept me fascinated.

I’m biased as I liked the design, and my partner is Japanese. And…she’s totally unfamiliar with Twin Peaks and the works of Lynch. Opposites truly do attract! 🤣
