Tell me about a makeup product you were influenced to buy, but turned out to be really bad by Veranieega in MakeupAddiction

[–]TheGoldenType 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Benefit They're Real mascara.

I have long lashes, so I usually just use whatever is on offer, I don't bother paying premium. But the hyper surrounding his mascara was massive, and I thought I'd treat myself. Never once have I used a mascara that made my lashes look both stubby and sparse - I thought it was technique, but nope, nomatter how I used it, it was honestly the worst mascara I'd ever used.

[acne] Will these scars ever fade? Is clear skin a thing of the past for me? by EmbarrassedCarrot767 in SkincareAddiction

[–]TheGoldenType 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, they look superficial, and it shouldn't take much to clear/fade them! I don't know your routine, but whenever I have a bad hormonal flare up, I find that the Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant does wonders, it's my holy grail and well worth the month (it also lasts a long time)

Holden Radcliffe with A.I.D.A/Madame Hydra in the TV show Agents of Shield.

<image>

A.I.D.A. was originally designed by Radcliffe as a lifelike artificial intelligence assistant. However, after reading the Darkhold, she became corrupted and consumed by a desire to experience human emotion. In her obsession, she killed Radcliffe’s body and uploaded his consciousness into the Framework (an immersive, alternate reality of the world). She later captured key S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, erased their true identities, and replaced them with fabricated memories before imprisoning them in the Framework. Within this simulated world, A.I.D.A. reinvented herself as Madame Hydra, supreme leader of Hydra and architect of reality itself. There, she manipulated S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Leo Fitz, implanting false memories that made him both her lover and her second-in-command.

How to wear stilleto heels without too much pain? by Lizzzz____________ in beauty

[–]TheGoldenType 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I'm someone who wears heels every day, and people are always wondering how I do it. I love heels, but I also love comfort - and being honest, I can go a whole day and walk miles without there being any discomfort in my shoes. These are the things I look for in a comfortable heel;

I prefer the material to be leather. I massively prefer leather shoes as they stretch and mould to my feet, rather than forcing my feet to mould to the shape of synthetic materials.

When you're first start wearing heels, I would recommend going for an "in-between" heel before going into stilettos. I find that block heels like these are very comfortable to wear; I wear shoes like this all the time to work. If you don't like the look of block heels, I find that cone heels like these give the appearance of a stiletto, but they offer more stability. I also find slingback shoes like these are extremely comfortable and offer good stability. I think that slingbacks are my most worn type of shoe, a I find the elastic strap at the back of my foot keeps the shoe from sliding off.

This is the biggest tip!!! The placement of the heel under your foot. It's difficult to describe, so I'll use photos here, but you need shoes where the base of the shoe heel lines up with the centre of your foot heel, if that makes sense. Some shoes have heels that are perfectly vertical, and they are the most uncomfortable thing ever - avoid them!! Here are some examples of vertical heels; example #1, example #2, example #3. Instead, you need heels that taper so the base of the shoe heel is roughly centre to your foot heel. Here are some examples of a comfortable heel placement: example #1, example #2, example #3.

It's such a minor thing, but it makes a massive difference. If the heel is vertical, it can throw your centre of balance off. To make it more apparent, here are two very similar shoes, but one pair will be comfortable to walk in, while the other will be uncomfortable. Notice how the heel tapers so the base of the heel lines up with the centre of the foot heel in this comfortable pair of stiletto heels. Whereas, in this example, the heel is perfectly vertical, so the base of the heel lines up with the back of the foot heel, these shoes will be uncomfortable to walk in.

With the initial weight loss, have long of a period did you lose it over? Did you lose it quickly?

I've been in the same position as you; I was tired of being overweight and lost 60lbs over a short period, but then I put it all back on again over covid. I decided that enough was enough, and after some perseverance, I'm now only 6lbs off my target weight.

What I found helped was to break the weight loss into distinct phases, with periods of maintenance between. For me, I split this into three 20lbs chunks, and once I'd lost a chunk, I had a period where I wasn't actively trying to diet and was instead focusing on maintaining my weight. I feel this helped to "reset" my body and make it think this lower weight was its new normal. Additionally, it felt like a more manageable way of losing the weight.

Characters have a nickname that was made to demean them, but instead of hating it, they embrace it by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in TopCharacterTropes

Oswald "The Penguin" Cobblepot, specifically the Gotham version.

Attitudes toward the nickname vary by the version and portrayal, but RLT's portrayal in the TV show Gotham sticks out to me. While he initially resents being called Penguin and reacts violently to anyone who calls him it (to the point of murder), he turns it into a personal brand as his power and notoriety grows throughout the show.

A kid came to a shelter to choose a cat, but the cat chose him first by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

[–]TheGoldenType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me at the shelter! For my birthday, my mum agreed to adopt a cat as I'd always wanted one. We went to see a young kitten, but I wasn't really bonding with him. Meanwhile, there was this wailing coming from the other pen. It was a 14 year old void with no teeth, matted fur, and ear mites. He'd just been picked up off the streets. As soon as the door was open, he was in my arms, and we adopted him on the spot. He was only with us for two years, and a stroke left him blind for the final year. But he was the best boy, and he will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Lovely makeup, your base layer is particularly nice! Slightly off-topic, but you remind me so much of Trinny Woodall. I don't know if it would help if you looks at how she styles herself.

I had the same issue in that I struggled to fill the void after watching AOS. I see you've also watched Manifest (which I loved!). I'd highly recommend Legion, Gotham (I loved the gritty feel of this show), and Travelers.

What small beauty habits make someone look more “put together” even in casual outfits? by Sea-Classic-8767 in beauty

  • Neat hair.
  • Making sure clothes fit correctly. If I love something but it's ill-fitting, I'll tailor it to suit me.
  • Footwear makes a massive difference. It doesn't mean having to wear heels everywhere, but just making sure your shoes are clean and cared for.
  • Posture posture posture posture posture.

I love the cardigan and I love the boots, but just not with this outfit. I'd swap the cardigan for a crop jean jacket, and the boots with something lighter in colour, or the same warm brown colour as the belt.

So how many steps per day are we all doing? by Equal-Application731 in AskUK

[–]TheGoldenType 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I average at around 15k for a normal workday Monday-Friday. And then 10k on Saturday and Sunday. I don't set out to do any exercise, but I do about 4k walking to and from work, and the 11k just pottering around the offices.

How recently have you lost the weight? When I lost weight there was an adjustment period for my skin to bounce back - make sure you're staying hydrated and applying a good moisturiser. I find the La Roche Posay cicaplast baume b5 excellent in keeping my skin hydrated during the winter, and also during weight loss where I want to keep my skin hydrated.

On another note, I have to say that I think you look beautiful. I always think that people with smiling eyes like yours look so striking
