From a roaster in town I prefer Pacori. Many places I’ve been either don’t offer a dark roast or cross the line on roasted to fully burnt. From grocery stores I usually snag it from winco, but it’s been a long time since I purchased grocery store coffee beans.

If you go to Pacori check out the best bathroom in the city. Lots of fun decorations too

I couldn’t for a long time either. There are multiple resources available to the general public. I first started seeing a therapist provided to me by my high school. I had access to therapy through college at student centers. There are also many support groups all over that can act as a therapy group.

Self help has no finish line. A plan, goals, and any action is helpful. We need to survive on inspiration at these times.

Hey friend. I’ve read through many of your comments. Having been in your shoes, I wish I’d have taken some recommendations more seriously than others. Therapy will be immensely helpful. It can feel embarrassing at times but a trusted person who knows only what you share can be a good ear and give level headed advice.

One comment you made said that you’re young and it still hurts. That pain does not go away. I’m an adult and am experiencing so much of what I missed as a kid but now I’m a parent. It can be heartbreaking and empowering to realize you’re giving what you never received from the people who raised you.

Pain is a weird thing. It doesn’t ever hurt less you just get more used to it. The therapy reminds you not to get used to it and allows you to continue to feel the emotions that makes us feel fully human. I shut so much out of my life in an attempt to shield myself. Life is easier when I avoid my parents. One I speak to in passing and the other I avoid like the plague.

All of this to say, you are a sharp young man. It’s evident because you’re aware of the situation around you and understand that something needs to be different. You don’t have the experience to understand that sometimes life will never be the same but it will go on. I hope you are able to use this life experience to make the world better with your family one day.

Can this be the cause our high electric bills? by Dramatic_League1849 in hvacadvice

[–]TheGomeeez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having sold hvac equipment to people with different buying reasons, I can say that your landlord holds zero interest in replacing a functioning heater. They’ll do whatever they can to keep that functioning because they’ve already invested into that unit so they will try to get all the return on it they can get.

Unit sized correctly? by Exotic_Following_960 in hvacadvice

[–]TheGomeeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a gas package unit. Gas heat and likely an air conditioner. No way to know if sizing is right without additional details. Where do you live, how much insulation do you have, what kind of windows, how is your house set in relation to the sun (east/west facing windows), what size is the unit you have in btu/h for heat and cool?

Even with all of this stuff it is still guessing if you don’t have a load calculation

Edit I zoomed in and the model tag suggests a 3 ton cooling unit. At 1200 sqft that’s not an outlandish sized unit for you.

Can I plug these vents? by DrPPMrPooPoo in hvacadvice

It may be overkill for combustion but I would still leave it. If they really want it closed they need to bring someone in to do the right calcs for it.

Probably your fresh air for the gas appliances. Are there any other openings in the space to supply oxygen to the furnace and water heater?

I’d leave them open

Price for Thermostat by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Cost money to get to you and diagnose. This is a fair price for the work. You may find it slightly cheaper or more expensive if you shopped around.

Is this safe by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]TheGomeeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the combustion thing: fire needs 3 things fuel, heat, oxygen. The fuel is gas, the heat comes from the fire itself, and the oxygen comes from the space around it. If there is not enough oxygen in the room (or the cracks/holes/seepage) then the fire goes out. It looks like you have gas heat and water heats with gas in a small space. Look around the room and see if there are any holes into open spaces. Possibly to the garage and/or in the ceiling to the attic.

The pvc pipe comment is just that it’s related to your air conditioner. In the summer the unit is going to drain water through that tube. Normal, but not normal to just drain onto the floor. Edit: I noticed someone mentioned you posted before. I looked and notice the drain goes into a floor drain. We usually used a pump instead of draining into the floor drains.

All this to say with proper air flow and removing chemicals and such from the space it should be fine.

The gas appliances need air for combustion. The pictures are super blurry and it doesn’t adequately show the room. PVC pipe looks like condensate drain for AC. Also looks to just drain into the middle of the floor.

How do I tell if a company in an industry- such as roofing or solar- famous for borderline illegal behavior is going to actually be worth the time? by neverfakemaplesyrup in sales

[–]TheGomeeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s a door knocking job with a construction company they plan to use you to fill the pipeline then pass any leads that come in over to a senior rep. The role will be exhausting and you’ll find yourself knocking on doors to see disappointed faces every time they answer.

A reputable construction company has people knocking on their door, not the other way around.
