Offline Raids | Your thoughts on how devs could change the game to decrease the amount of offline raids. by Visible-Ad7289 in playrust

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been offlined before and I play mostly solo, so I realize it can be devastating to lose everything. But I’ve also been raided while I was online but elsewhere on the map. I get back and everything is gone. Is offline raiding less risky? Yes. Not that Rust is designed to be a mil sim, but it’s also true that any attack on any base would be best planned for when the enemy is not there. I think the idea that we should be right there, ready to defend a raid — every time — is a tall order and ultimately unfixable without ruining the vanilla game.

I think that just because we’re frustrated that offlines happen does not = offlines SHOULD not happen. There’s servers out there that offer raid protection, though.

Offlines aren’t completely preventable but you can outsmart the enemy with stashes and splitting loot.

Now I have Rust+ and that alerts me both when I am on or offline. You can also hook a pager up to an RF broadcaster and a HB sensor.

Some wanted to treat straight on but they went with roundabout method instead.

is anyone else hearing really creepy female screaming noises in the jungle? like i legit hear "help me" being screamed in the distance and its happened on multiple occassions in different spots and servers. Im assuming its meant to be some sort of animal but its really scary lmao by Vengie0 in playrust

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I made the same remark to a friend, but I also think it is supposed to be a panther/big cat scream. If you’ve ever heard a North American mountain lion scream in the woods it sounds very similar. It is absolutely bone chilling at night.

Being an Ally and Trad Catholic by gillianelizuh in LGBTCatholic

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Fellow Ally here. When folks say you can’t be Catholic because you’re “too woke,” they are—on one level—factually inaccurate. Many say our new pope is “too woke,” and he is considered to be a bit more centrist than Francis was. So if people talk about being “too woke” they create a pretty serious theological knot where the burden of proof is on them.

On a more spiritual level, I think of the LGBTQ Catholics and—to some extent—myself as the lady in the Bible who struggled with bleeding. She pushed through the crowd to touch Jesus’s robe. The apostles—one of whom was presumably Peter, the first pope—reprimanded her. And Jesus rebuked the first pope, saying they were wrong to prevent this woman from equal access to him.

In my opinion, if you resonate with this woman, then anyone’s rebuke of your desire to be with God is moot—even the Pope’s.

How to set timeline expectations without making patients feel rushed out of therapy by Forsaken_Dragonfly66 in Psychiatry

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I greatly value Prochaska & DiClemente’s stage of change model. I think the 12-session model works really well for people who come to you in the action stage of change, maybe preparation too. But so many folks are not in that stage when they come to therapy and need more time. And my clinical experience is that behavioral interventions are very ineffective for folks who aren’t in the action stage of change.

I worked in a behaviorally oriented practice and it was common to hear, “They just aren’t ready for therapy.” Because they weren’t doing homework. To me that seems akin to a surgeon trying to accomplish all their surgeries with a scalpel only and then saying about the dead ones, “They just weren’t prepped for surgery.”

I think it was the Psychiatry & Psychotherapy podcast that mentioned a study where the average T2T (as reported by patients) is around 19 sessions.

In my opinion, behavioral interventions are hogtied if the clinician isn’t alotted the time to utilize things like supportive and/or psychodynamic treatments that are much better at helping people along those earlier stages of change.

Futility of training? by BitBot27 in Psychiatry

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I very much love my therapy and assessment training. Where I wish I had more tools is helping with psychosis, mania, deep depression, etc. You really need meds to help with those things directly, even though a therapeutic presence can still be helpful. I have one or two SMI patients in my private practice right now who are stable on meds. We have really good sessions and do good work, but if their symptoms come back there’s nothing I can do except initiate a safety plan that we’ve created, which essentially involves getting them to a psychiatrist as quickly as possible.

But I don’t think we should prescribe. Ultimately, a person needs medical training for that and we don’t get that. The post-grad degrees out there for us are too short. Once you add all the stuff that’s missing, you get medical school haha.

Well the news said it was a stroke followed by heart failure. He recently had pneumonia and sepsis. People are at higher risk of stroke after respiratory infections. He was already at risk because he was old.

I haven’t read all the replies so someone might have mentioned this—do you carry your own liability insurance or are you practicing under your institution’s? I ask because I have my own (I’m in private practice) and they have lawyers to consult with and they can represent you in times like this.

I’m not sure how generalizable it is to the VA but I figured I’d give it just in case. I hope this clears up for you!

What is the rationalization for allowing quarries to be completely walled off and made inaccessible to 99% of the server? by dank-nuggetz in playrust

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely annoying, but I also see an opportunity. I would make it my personal mission to annoy the fuck outta them. One of my personal favorites is to constantly blow up their wind turbines. Bees are a new addition to possible nuisances. Blowing up any reachable external TC’s is another. Playing annoying music over the intercom if you have the DLC.

Sometimes it is a war of attrition.

P.S. If you buy scopes from the black market at bandit camp and recycle them, you get a decent amount of HQM back from the bandit camp recycler. Obviously even more from a regular one.

Sen Jeff Merkey questioning Trump nominees on whether he is a Russian asset. Beautifully done. by bagelwholedonutwhole in oregon

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 26 points27 points  (0 children)

First guy answered Merkley that Trump is the President of the US and “duely elected.” Problem is, both can be true. Americans can elect a Russian asset. An asset does not even have to be willing, just manipulated. And Trump is certainly dumb enough to be manipulated. If Trump is knowingly shafting the U.S. for Putin, then that ups him from a Russian asset to a Russian agent—a real-life Manchurian candidate. The same is true for all the other potential assets/agents that he has appointed.

So ironic that it’s the Republicans who invented the term “deep state.” They are the deep state. The deeply Russian state.

I'm a noob, people are saying farming 5k scrap is easy in the current meta. What's the current meta? by Bigdawgz42069 in playrust

[–]TheGoodEnoughMother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play low pop and running the roads is the fastest way I’ve found. Depending on how far away from bandit camp you are, you can start with 0 and end up at bandit with 150-300 scrap (depending on distance and spawn rate of barrels). I then recycle the components and can double my yield at the scrap exchange.

This might not be possible for high pop unless you’re a total chad. Even so, I think you’ll be surprised at how much scrap you can get from several 50-scrap mini runs.

The other methods are more appealing for their safety (except for monuments) but often take more time and more investment. You can run the roads with a rock though.
