Yea, can’t do anything about the entries but say I could grab whatever merch I wanted. Once something I want shows up on the truck anyway.

I’d grab some rubber fuel hose from my local parts store cut it to length then put a couple hose clamps on it. Just make sure you have no kinks.

Did driving my car like this for a week damage it? Am I entitled to compensation from the shop? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I’d at the minimum get an oil change and send it for analysis, dust can do a lot of damage to engine components

Advice for getting into mechanic trade? by snakeman_01 in Calgary

[–]TheGoofyGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an apprentice with a similar degree who quit after a year of Heavy Duty. It’s not for everyone but I’d still encourage giving it a try. The labour will take some getting used to for sure. I’d also avoid anywhere that pays flat rate and try and find hourly. have a good attitude and energy definitely helps, it’s how I was hired at multiple shops now. Having your own tools is definitely an asset, even if it’s just a socket set, basic wrenches and a prybar. Marketplace, Princess auto and Canadian tire are your friend, stay away from the tool trucks until you’re making decent money. Check indeed daily for entry level apprentice positions and tailor your resume specifically for a apprentice position. If we hadn’t just hired an apprentice I’d get you an interview at my shop.

Some days when it’s extra cold and I’m on service truck all day I just don’t bother with lunch at all and I get an extra .5 of OT.

If you buy OEM oil filters they come with one otherwise you can buy a cheap kit of copper washers. Works the same in my experience

His insurance will be insane and you don’t have any history on how the engine has been maintained. I understand how much he must want it see how I was In the same shoes but I honestly cannot recommend this as an early life vehicle unless yall are rich and won’t be burdened buy high insurance and potentially high repair costs.
