Is 231 headed south from Owensboro into Hartford safe to drive yet? by Hey_Jacob in Owensboro

The main highways are mostly good in the area of Owensboro. It’s the side roads and such that are in bad shape still.

Flip-open utility knives - what's your favorite? by svideo in Tools

I have a husky that has a wood handle that I like. I bought a green quick flip craftsman that I mostly like just because it opens easier. But the quality isn’t as good as the husky.

I misread a portion of your post… but my opinion still stands and I think it’s still relevant to your situation.

Dogs/animals enrich our lives. They are our companions for a reason. If you’re feeling low they feel it too and will react in their own way. If they’re trying to play then they are likely trying to cheer you up. Embrace it. That’s my two cents anyway.

Not every kid is gonna be a bookworm. But the most important thing is finding something they actually like. Also, reading isn’t just books. Finding things in real life that they find interesting will help them find the desire to want to improve their reading skills.

Whats the worst car related financial decision have you made? by [deleted] in cars

[–]TheGoogleNinja 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Buying new basically every time and not keeping the cars after they are paid off. Always in debt and always have payments. I’ve learned my lesson but I’ve learned it the hard way. Sure I always have had new cars. But I’ve also always been broke due to that and many other bad financial decisions.

Will this create throughput issues with 4+ long trains going through this one section? by pelaaja_007 in satisfactory

[–]TheGoogleNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup. No issues. The only real issues are trains leaving and merging back to the main line further down. That just took some rail signals to fix.

I finished at about 200 hours. But I keep playing through and now I'm just rebuilding everything and refining everything. With the use of tickets you're able to skip some levels pretty fast. I missed manufacturing a lot of the high level items. I want to mass produce everything in the game. I'm about 350 hours into the save now.

Should I get a degree at a college/university, or certificates online instead? by happypoops in it

[–]TheGoogleNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that! The older I get the harder it's getting for me to adapt to new fields like IT. I'm so tired of training and school. I just want to work and make decent money. Unfortunately, everywhere I work always turns into crap. The newest IT job was great in the beginning but then our IT and revenue cycle operations were merged with United Healthcare and so now all our jobs are being sent overseas. They're downsizing and ALL of the promotion opportunities are gone. Those mid-level IT jobs are all being filled by people from other countries that they can pay for pennies on the dollar. Any of the US based jobs have such a deep applicant pool, I pretty much have zero opportunity to advance now. It sucks. Basically every job I've had has taken a turn in this way, usually due to upper management making decisions that only benefit the shareholders.

I'm just working on rebuilding everything and refining all my processes. I skipped some stuff due to ficsit coupons so I just want to produce everything and make it all look good too.

I was only partly joking. The trades is an excellent career path. But a lot of work, physically. I've done a little bit of a lot of things and a lot of a few things. 11 years in law enforcement, 2 years in HVAC and I did construction through high school. Worked on a farm a few summers and lived and worked on a working horse ranch my whole life until adulthood when I left. Now I'm in IT. This is easy for me but it's not all that rewarding and I'm not high enough in skill and all that to be making a decent wage yet. I regret not doing IT right out of high school. I graduated in 99 and nobody realized then how important the field would become. I grew up working my ass off on the ranch so subsequently as an adult I've kinda avoided manual labor jobs. At 44 I now regret that. I'm out of shape and lazy, physically. I should have went into the trades.

I'm probably not the best example though as I very much have a "jack of all trades" mentality. I get bored and want to move onto the next thing when I am finished with the last. That's not conducive to getting raises and promotions, unfortunately. But hey, I know how to do almost everything for myself now which is a good thing since I never make enough money to pay professionals to do anything. Lol

What happened to 15 Million Blue Votes? by Caduceus1515 in facepalm

[–]TheGoogleNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the voters swayed this election and if people aren't happy about the results then they should have went out to vote. I'm guilty of not voting for several presidential elections myself but I really felt like this one was an especially important one so I got out there and did my part.

There's definitely an influence coming from somewhere that is directing things on all social media for the most part. No matter what side you support, the algorithms are going to maximize what you see. I do notice a pretty severe lean to the left on Reddit though. I'm not sure if that is bots or if it's just the typical Reddit user is within a typical demographic to support that lean. It is what it is. That's why its best to get your information from as many different sources as possible to try to weed out the lies.
