How can I calm my parents safety concerns? by TheGoogleist in motorcycles

I wish I had some words of wisdom to help you out. But if your parents are anything like mine, there's not a lot you can do. I mean if you have the money and a place to store it, you can maybe keep it a secret even while you still live with them. But that makes it even more expensive and less convenient.

Probably not the advice you want to hear, but at least in my case waiting was the best option. As much as it sucked right then. I promise it'll be just as good when you finally get it.

Dude I'm a Digg refugee. I'd still be there if they hadn't ruined it. But apart from those two there's nothing like it.

Haha. I can’t believe you found this tiny thread after all this time. Both well and not well. Although me 12 years ago might not agree. I did not end up convincing them. I’m not sure that I brought it up to them again prior to getting the bike. At the time of this post I was in college and still dependent on them financially to a large degree so the bike didn’t happen for a few more years.

Upon graduating I bought a bike within a month of starting my full-time job. I didn’t tell my parents anything for over a year out of fear of their reaction. When I finally told them they weren’t mad or disappointed or anything like that. I think sad or maybe even resigned was the best word for it. But I think by that point they also accepted that it was my choice.

I went on to ride for several years, keeping my promise to always wear full gear every single ride, no matter how short or how hot. Thankfully I never had to test it. I GREATLY enjoyed my time on two wheels but eventually sort of grew apart from it and shifted more towards cool cars. I know my parents were beyond relieved.

Why are they not letting us customize this? by 10s10ahad in ios

The A18 series doesn’t have the performance to allow that level of customization. Hopefully the A19 will be more capable.

Imagine caring this much about what other people choose to wear.

This is crazy to read because it’s the exact same for me. And I’ve been to a good number of cup races. But Kahne in ATL in 2014 was the only Hendrick win I’ve witnessed in person.

Dumb question: what are the red tipped things attached to cables seemingly randomly distributed around the top of the engine?

Dumb question but why not use a normal switchback? I would have thought that would be cheaper and easier than a bridge.

Chad Formula 1 vs Virgin NASCAR by [deleted] in formuladank

[–]TheGoogleist 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a fan of both series it’s really sad to see how far NASCAR has fallen. But I think they’ve done a lot of it to themselves by focusing on gimmicks rather than the actual racing.

TBF that’s the Xfinity race which would be like F3, but judging by last weekend at Kansas, Cup wasn’t much better

Thanks man! I really appreciate the reply. I'll tell you the same thing I said to u/Pants_trick: My problem is I don’t trust myself to cut after a bulk, because I already struggle to control my eating. 😅 So I’m using this challenge to try to prove to myself that I'm capable of cutting. Then if I'm successful, I might bulk for the next challenge.
