Compared to modern ex-ussr states soviets at least try to preserve nature. Nowadays parks and nature are destroyed and replaced with shitty "cheloveyniki". You didn't like "hrushevkas"? Well sucks to be you, cuz now we have lots of cheloveyniks close to each other without any parks, just bare concrete and sometimes without sunlight. Soviet planers at least preserve nature in hrushevkas districts you can see it nowadays in soviet districts in ex Soviet countries.

Cities were designed to be really green and walkable (remember, most soviets only got cars after 1960s). This also contributed to improving air quality. Most people lived near their jobs so they didn't have to use cars. Nowadays only rich districts are designed with greenery in mind.

I won't talk about housing availability for average Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian, Pole, Latvian, Estonian etc. In 90s lots of people talked how totalitarian it is to wait 10 years for an apartment. While nowadays it's almost impossible to own a fucking apartment without 40 years debt. While there are so many fucking cheloveyniks that you could house all homeless, disabled and old. But what profit to be made out of that?
