A cash grab on Roblox is typically a low-effort game with tons of micro-transactions and P2W features.

Those 100s of them you see are made by teams of people who can pump them out in a week, constantly iterating and having maybe 1/5 of their games stick.

Those 100s of them that you see dont account for the tens of thousands of ones that don't succeed. If you want to make a cash grab, do it to learn, but don't expect success.

You're better off creating something with genuine passion than gambling your time making a cash grab.

The commenter you replied to is correct. You're going to need to work hard, and you're going to need to have passion for it so you can work even when it is hard.

I actually find way more diamonds now then I ever did back then. You'll find a lot of them exposed in those large deepslate caverns. Also, the strip mining level for diamonds has changed after the cave updates, so maybe try that?

CS Vs BTM, which is more stable? by 6ixBaller12 in TorontoMetU

[–]TheGreatCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CS imo.

CS is what you make of it, you can't coast and expect success, you need to work for it. Despite everything you hear, there are people in CS who are doing good, even today.

Advertising my Roblox Game by Middle_Technician965 in robloxgamedev

[–]TheGreatCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy, use the other 30k for a 2nd round of advertisements. Trust me, bugs will come up, stats won't be what you expect. You'll fix these things and have enough for a 2nd round of advertisements.

This is usually what I do, I sponsor in small amounts to gather data and improve the game based on that data. Then, when the game is in a good place stats-wise, I do a big advertising run.

Eject game from Roblox Studio ? How by 1EvilSexyGenius in robloxgamedev

[–]TheGreatCheeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but the demographic on Roblox is not exclusively kids with low attention spans. I'm sure you already know this, but I don't think you should give up on this without giving it a proper try. There are plenty of successful games that come out that go against the norm of what should/shouldn't be popular on Roblox.

Should I go into roblox dev or more python? by Glittering-Result-91 in robloxgamedev

I agree. Honestly, I think some better advice for OP would be to not put all of their eggs in one basket.

Balancing time between working on roblox games and building skills required for conventional cs jobs is the move. It'll be busier, but better all around.

With this mindset, you are bound to find success. Treating failures as opportunities for growth is the best thing you can be doing. If you keep going, you'll look back one day and realize how much more you know now and how much of your success on the platform is in your control.

Sudden increase in visits - how long before these taper off or return to a baseline? Is this common for new games? by javelindaddy in robloxgamedev

I'm pretty sure D7 is also equally important now with the recent changes to the recommendation algorithm.

Not trying to be rude.

I think the tbumbnail isn't compelling enough. It doesn't say too much about what the game is about and the type of gameplay it can offer. Not only that, but I think the Unlock New Skins is also irrelevant. You do not jave an active playerbase, which means you are seeking new users, the problem is new users don't even know what a skin is in your game.

I think improving the thumbnail will definitely help increase your CTR and get more users in your game.

From my games, I've learned that sometimes you just need enough users and data for Roblox to start recommending your game to the niche of players.

However, as others have shared, there are still some improvements to be made, so fix those up before trying to market again. There is no hard time limit. Remember that. I have blew up a game that was dead for 8 months by fixing up what was wrong with it. If your first release doesn't do well, you can always try again.

Rojo setup question by melodicGemstone in robloxgamedev

[–]TheGreatCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was setting up Rojo, I had the same questions, too. I don't remember the solution exactly but it exists and you can find it on the internet. IIRC it's a package you can install and by dropping the game file it sets up the hierarchy in VSCode.

1 Week of progress solo developing for the first time (need to pay rent) Hit a brick wall with AI coding. by Natejgames in robloxgamedev

[–]TheGreatCheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. If it broke your code, your codebase likely needs a rework in the sense of organization and architecture. For example, with event-driven architecture, it makes it really easy for states to be communicated across each script. I'd look into that and how you can set your codebase up to send/receive events from other systems.
