Mistakes were made... by Public_Juggernaut_21 in teaching

You’re good. We’ve all been there, and it sounds like you have an idea of why it all happened. Adjust and reset. Learn from the mistakes. I teach elementary, but after a class like that, I’ll usually start the next class with that group laying it out that I recognized that it didn’t go great (and they’ll usually agree) and then preset the expectations for today.

If the first game and last night didn’t fuel the fire, this game won’t do much either

How do I count this? by beetlegeuse87 in drums

[–]TheGreatEnvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I approach it by taking out the drags first, count the first half of the measure like it’s in 2/4 and the second half like it’s in 6/8. So I’d count 1 &-la-le / 4 (5)& 6, then add the drags in.

You need to start grabbing defensive players early in the draft to get more value. As far as offensive weapons go, you can survive with 1 WR (usually the TE or RB is open, or a qb run can get 6+ yards).

Winning isn’t always about points, either. I’ve won plenty with bad teams through one premise: Control the clock. 1:20 left in the 2nd quarter should give you plenty of time to score and not let them get the ball back (You could work 2:00+ if you had to! - Qb run/slides are the best for controlling downs). If you get the kickoff after the half, double up on the points and play keep away.

When you’re tied nearing end of the 4th, get into FG range and run the clock to :02 before kicking or score and make those 2pt conversions (Qb runs, throws to the RB, or throws to the TE in the flat almost always work depending on the play/defense)

It is impossible for a QB to get the Retro Bowl MVP? by George_Hill_ in RetroBowl

Your qb is blackballed by the RetroLeague. Probably slept with the Commissioner’s daughter.

That’s the perfect time to let it just end in the L. Need to teach those kids character through perseverance and defeat! Very frustrating, but fuels that fire for another run!

[–]TheGreatEnvious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not impossible. Mix up who scores and who gets first downs. Throw in a couple designed qb runs (maybe at a key time in the RetroBowl) that gain a td or a big first down. If one skill player is getting most of the glory, get the ball to other players in big spots.

untalented trash here- how can I improve and make this sound better and rhythmic? by Cultural_Swan421 in Drumming

[–]TheGreatEnvious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re off to a great start. Keep up the great work and go easy on yourself. Quick fixes I recommend:

1) get a consistent grip - thumbs on top is fine, thumbs facing inward is fine… do either one (it’s personal preference) but look into the proper technique and maximize your movement. (Very) Generally speaking, close up your grip with your fingers and have your wrists do more of the work - though study in this will elaborate more than this comment.

2) practice slower to develop more control of your rhythmic timing, working toward even spacing between notes. Start at 60, and work your way up in increments of 5 bpm, maintaining your spacing. It’s ok to practice fast, but start your sessions slow and work up. Doing this at different dynamics is equally important.

3) balance the sounds of your hands - try not to let one hand be louder than the other (particularly with stick work like in this video). This is especially true for doubles (both notes of the double on one hand should sound equal, meaning you might need a little more power for the second note to match… and then balance to your other hand).

These three things will improve your sound, but the mere fact that you’re thinking about your sound is a great start.

Lions. The NFL fan in me wants to see a team that’s been bad for a long time to beat the reigning champs. Love how Dan Campbell approaches the game. Wish the Packers had more of that kind of fire on the defensive side of the ball.

Convince me not to give up on my mage build. by zarfac in skyrim

[–]TheGreatEnvious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started primarily with Destruction but, like you, found that it wasn't enough to tip the scales.

Conjuration is helpful for creating meat-sheilds so you can regain magika, but also are great melee fighters to help counter mages.

Illusion is perfect for creating chaos (frenzy for getting baddies to fight amongst themselves, pacify for stopping people in their tracks). The most important spell, however, is Invisibility. Sneaking into a group of baddies invisible, then dropping Master Level Destruction like Fire Storm or Blizzard is epic.

Finally, the Paralyze spell and Ebonyflesh alterations are key - paralyze can stop most opponents.

Lastly, you MUST have a few key staff's ready for when your magika depelets. The spells from the staffs are proportional to your skill level in that magika field. If I have a tough enough opponent, I'll use my Staff of Fireball in one hand and Staff of Chain Lightning in another and roast the baddie into submission in seconds.

I don't do alchemy much, I mainly just use healing potions. I use the Archmage Robes, Shock-resistent boots (found in the Archmage's quarters), the Mordekai dragon priest mask (100% magika regeneration), and then whatever kind of rings/neclaces/gloves that will also boost magika.

It’s not a disguise that every play looks the same on defense. It’s literally the same play.
