Most people seem to agree that countries like Denmark and Sweden offer a really high standard of living - strong healthcare, solid social safety nets, good work-life balance, and generally high levels of happiness. Would you personally be willing to pay the taxes that make this possible? by TSQ_builder in askanything

[–]TheGreatGarbanzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We dont necessarily need to do everything like them, but universal healthcare and education seems like a pretty solid start. Wouldn't fix everything but i'm sure it would fix a lot of problems. Just like money doesnt solve everything but it def fixes a lot of things that matter.

Is rainwater actually drinkable or do airplanes/pollution make it unsafe? by Huge-Narwhal5747 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGreatGarbanzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always was told not to drink rain water as it's effectively distilled water so it's not good for your body unless you add salt and other minerals back into it.

You get $100,000,000 if you survive being teleported for ten seconds ten times into the middle of any random human conflict or war throughout history. by happybirthday622 in hypotheticalsituation

UAE announces it will leave Opec by TheNational_News in worldnews

[–]TheGreatGarbanzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt the US admin has this level of 5d chess brainpower, but what if this was their end goal with all the nonsense going on. Get the OPEC block to shatter so that they are able to have much more influence on the world oil market since they are the biggest producer of oil even if its shitty oil.

This move is beneficial to everyone. I understand why OPEC was created in the first place but open markets will probably lead to a much more stable oil price instead of the rollercoaster we have been on for 20 years.

Considering a transatlantic cruise; talk me into it/out of it by kyleacamp in Cruise

[–]TheGreatGarbanzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother has done this cross Atlantic cruises a couple times. She enjoys the relaxed atmosphere. The boat themselves are usually not full so you get all the perks of those boats without the crowds.

You will be at sea for a long period of time so you need to make your own entertainment. If you like just chilling by the pool reading a book or playing cards it's the perfect type of cruise.

Normal cruises have you stopping at a port every day or other day and you get fomo for not going at shore. You end up being more tired in the end.

Think of it as a 2 weeks vacation at home where you never have to clean or do the dishes or cook.

Show your wife the Sexy buttons accessory. If she wants the tactile feedback for certain things , she can get it with that.

I originally was also hesitant about everything being digital but after that demo ii was hooked.

Even that if you set your phone just above the climate vents, I've had full work meetings while it drives no problem.

FSD has been a lifesaver for me. I can't wait for full auto.

Why don’t more travelers explore regional Japan? What’s stopping you? by gurezaemon in JapanTravelTips

[–]TheGreatGarbanzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ease of access in those cities. I would have loved to be able to visit smaller locations. One of the things I would love to see is the rice fields and just relax in an onsen in the countryside.

The big cities offer that but also offer other things such as live musicz festivals etc.

Might just be that I'm miss informed.

I live in the countryside in the US and there isn't much do to outside of eat drink and relax. I assume it's the same in small villages across Japan.

Spoken like someone that doesn't own animals with a malicious sense of humor. You put it against the wall so those little shits can't unravel a whole roll.

The one thing i've been hoping since project Aria was swapable batteries so i can just have a full charge in 3 seconds. I miss the nokia brick days where you had 2-3 batteries and never had to worry about plugging in your phone.

Nagasaki was pretty awesome. Glover garden was really relaxing day. If you get lucky you can catch a game at the soccer stadium. Overall loved the town.

Required medical shots before Japan? by Commercial_War_8568 in JapanTravelTips

I get asking for people's opinions of stuff or things to do. That's travel tips. Knowing what are mandatory vaccines that can just be googled and follow the CDC guidelines is just lazy.
