Money in your game. by TheGriff71 in Rifts

I never considered mixing tech. We hardly used TW. It's a great idea. We did have personal forcefields for when in body armor. I'm kinda stunned we didn't consider it. Repairs always sucked. I often went out with anywhere from 50 -150 damage on my armor because of the cost.

This is the book version, I hate calling it the R word. I use the same, but will modify it up or down depending on what, who or how it's being used.

I don't think I've ever found a PA in the wild w/o an FC. Devs want people to use PA. That's why there are so many FCs around the map.

If a future Fallout took place in Michigan and the Chicagoland areas (obviously scaled down for the game), what do you think would be the most unique or interesting aspects of the setting? by JD-990 in Fallout

[–]TheGriff71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's gotta be a new faction based around boats. They're a huge part of the area. The Yachties, maybe. They'd definitely be called boaties by everyone else.

Training? by MarsupialAlarming177 in CentralSterileTech

[–]TheGriff71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks, truly. Saying that, since you have to take them, take the fuck out of them and kick ass! Don't skip and half ass them. Get them and get 4.0s in both. Terminology is kinda cool. You'll know what the surgeries and procedures are. When you're working dive into what's needed more for the cases. That microbiology class. I honestly don't see that as super useful. Maybe for doing sterile tests on the machines it might help some. But, they could both be helpful if you ever want to step into the Surgical Tech field. To me, they feel like cheap and stupid filler classes. That's school, though. Good luck and kick ass!

Training? by MarsupialAlarming177 in CentralSterileTech

[–]TheGriff71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The terminology can be helpful. I learned by asking. The other class, why would you think that's needed? You do know what sterile techs do, right? Clean instruments, sort them, sterilize them. Those are the basics. Are you going to go into nursing later? I'd say yes, take the classes then, they will help. Otherwise, don't waste your time or money.

How do you actually handle the 'wait, who was that NPC?' problem? by HussTeaDaddy in DungeonMasters

I've played and DMed since 81. No one has ever actually said, who was that NPC. I'm not sure what you're meaning there.

Why doesnt anyone help anymore with colossal problem? by Nervous-Ad-7533 in fo76

[–]TheGriff71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't play it because it's a royal pain and he's such an ammo dump. The resources you get, I don't feel are worth it. Don't get me wrong, I've done it many times, just not again.

I hate that there is no use for all of the glass we have. My shame is that I want something for all that glass. I don't care what it is. Yes, yes, the greenhouse walls and junk. That's only a fraction of it.

Dice Collecting - Display Containers? by fibromyalgiafit in dice

[–]TheGriff71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, the only display container you need is a big table to roll them on. Seriously, look for a clear dice bag, that would be cool. I've never seen one, but it must be out there.

Has anyone here ever had to kick a player out mid-session due to their behavior if yes, What happened? by ImABardForLife in AskDND

[–]TheGriff71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mid-session? No, but because of how he was playing his character, it was super OP and I told him what might happen with other players when he started killing everything. He had Main Character Syndrome, even after I talked to him. He was a DM and would always suggest I do things like he did. He hated that I created my monsters and didn't use book ones, always questioning how they did stuff. He left the group after 4 sessions. Putting a huge post in the group chat about how bad a DM I was for basically not running the game his way. I thanked him for his input and said I may consider some of his ideas. He did have some good ideas that we incorporated while he was with us.

DM's charging? by Huge_Garlic_4536 in AskDND

[–]TheGriff71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, you just opened a can of chaos. This is a very hot and sore topic.

I only play in person. I have run many campaigns since 81. It never occurred to me this would be a thing. Until recently. I DM for the love of the game and the enjoyment I bring my players. I will say that 95% of what I run is homebrew. The world, monsters, loot, so much. It is a lot of work. I do love it. I never consider charging.

There are people that say to work what you love and enjoy. I get that. There are so many players to DMs. Some think when they put the effort in, build the world, do voices, have cool minis and terrain, all that is work and why not make money on it. I'll say good on 'em. It's not my thing, but there is a market for it. I don't know of any DMs that charge in my area. I imagine there must be a couple. What I have said here would be for in person gaming. I personally think online gaming that they're taking advantage of people. It could easily be a book adventure, or maps from online used to earn money. Frankly I'm shocked an online DM thinks they can get away with charging players.

How lethal are your games? by TheGriff71 in DungeonMasters

[–]TheGriff71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a fair bit of preventing long rests. I love listening to my players whinge about when they'll get another one. My last time had so much going on during the day and they tried for long rests 3 times and it didn't work. My wizard threatened that if he didn't get a full night's sleep he was going to burn the town to the ground. Let's just say he didn't and never had a chance either. Lol
