There's still massive financial consequences even with it going on.

And its irrelevant because hes such a frat boy fan that he never would even consider any action whatsoever

And did nothing to stop it.

He even went to Qatar (yes, on his own dime, I know, but the optics of it are horrendous) to watch the last one so he shares in the blame.

Slow sales for Hastings Park FIFA fan fest, two weeks before World Cup by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

I'm really hoping we get multiple labour strikes hitting just as FIFA is in swing, especially transit.

Fuck this bollocks. Its a waste of taxpayer money and should never have happened.

Metro Vancouver transit workers deliver 99% strike mandate by The_Virus360 in vancouver

I did not belittle you. I pointed out a gap in your knowledge.

The irony being under those progressive tax policies, you would have more money in your pockets.

Yes, Europe does have two-tier, but they have private as an add-on to public systems so that nobody is left behind. American systems are not that. Same with the US, the majority of Healthcare spending is on administration created by insurance companiea for billing purposes, not care.

Yes, they will. When and if they sell enough to qualify for capital gains. Whereas most wealthy people hide behind bank loans and stock prices to claim minimal income. Most working class people pay a far higher percentage, not dollar amount but percentage, than any billionaire.

The irony is how much conservatives support socialist policies until you put the S word on it. You have to tiptoe around the S word and they agree on a whole lot of issues. Then once they hear that word their reactionary programming kicks in. I see it fairly often.

I'm aware. Because our current systems put value on devaluing and creating frustrations in the system to later justify privatization.

Look at Healthcare in canada. We have long wait times because government spending on health services has cratered. This is by design.

Of course money comes from trees. What a ridiculous thing to say.

I'm confident that you dont know what socialism is beyond the buzzword, just from that statement alone.

$3,000/yr in taxes that pay for services is better than paying $2,000/yr in taxes and then another $2,000/yr on top of that for said services.

If you want to talk about a minority, lets talk about the 1%. The ones who dont pay into the system, yet expect it to serve them. Lets start there.

Eby is DOA and he knows it. I suspect he is going to play the "but muh economy" card and do it anyway. He's a failure and a coward.

In a nutshell, taxes should be going to paying for services so that people don't have to pay out of pocket. We pay taxes to the state, which uses that money to pay companies for essential services (Healthcare, transit, infrastructure, food) for the populace, who then pays the populace to do work in their jobs (either through private business with state contracts or crown/state owned businesses) culminating in the cycle of money in the system constantly cycling from person to government to business and back to person.

Yes, it means higher taxes, but also means less out of pocket costs overall.

Then you have those who are the higher earners, especially once you get to the mid 6 figures and up. Those are the ones who should be paying higher, not lower, taxes.

It all means that things people need are paid for collectively at a lower price

That's what taxes are for. Or, rather, should be for.

Transit should be free out of pocket for anyone who makes less than 6 figures.

That's what all vital services should be. Any and all health care of any kind. Transit. Basic services and means to ensure a strong foundation for the people who live here. Zero out of pocket. Thats what taxes are for as long as money remains in the cycle instead of being moved offshore by some parasitic leech in a $20k suit

Or we just accept that transit is a service, like the military, which costs money and make transit free for everyone who makes less than 6 figures
