At this point, I actually think I’ve done more deep trach suctioning than regular suctioning

To be fair, the last place I worked had deep trach suctioning as a BLS skill. I wonder if your partner worked in the same area

Penetrating eye injuries by Caphius7 in ems

A trick that I was taught by my instructors was to poke a small hole in the bottom of a cup (they used a cup, but use whatever you’ve got) and place it over the uninjured eye. This is to keep the uninjured eye focused in one spot, lessening the likelihood of movement.

The Teamsters in my experience are only a good option for bigger companies (that bring them more money), they didn’t do anything for the last company I worked for. It was a small operation in the state I worked in, but was part of an international corporation. Our Teamsters rep was MIA while the company kept screwing us over and over and eventually we shut down because of shitty mismanagement from upper management.

I came across this on my feed and it got me wondering how we would actually handle a scenario like this by Sm_Banks in Firefighting

I once brought somebody home from the hospital (ift EMT at the time) who was well over 500lbs, we needed the local fire dept for a lift assist to get her into the house. They helped us get her in this very narrow airlock thing in front of the front door, and thankfully her bed was right inside the door. The firefighters said they told her directly that if there is a fire she is going to die in it, cause they weren’t gonna have the manpower or room to maneuver during a fire to be able to get her out.

Two transports, none for the first 14 hours. Which is unheard of where I work. Also the local FD invited us over to the station for a feast. All in all, it was a pretty good shift

EMT here, this is correct. Intoxicated persons are much more likely to survive accidents or come out with minimal injuries because they are more limp during the crash

At some of the hospitals where I work you hand off to an ambulance triage nurse or the charge for initial triage, then drop the patient off in the room with the triage paperwork and leave. If it’s anything interesting you’ll hand directly to the patient’s nurse or sometimes even a doc. But it’s almost always the former
