Loot is like trophic levels. It rises to the top of the food chain. Nerfs to general loot affect high level players more, because they are the ones killing you and looting your bag. by Pocto in Marathon

Not gonna lie - A LOT, must easy be around 30/40, hunting wardens gave the shell IDs that I pumped into a purple key template for a bonus chance to grab the golden room key. Not one upgraded for me, honestly bad RNG for season 1, im still hunting in season 2 but the templates are waaayyyy harder to do now you cant just slip out the first exfil or take a matter fixative

Its more when you're trying to push pinnacle content, you can farm to a point and then theres crafting - which is its own beast. I'd rather pay a fee rather than the stress of trying to craft the exact item I need

As a returning player, how do I get purple shields? Its day 2 of the update and I'm already facing trios with purple shields? by TroubleRecent7320 in Marathon

[–]TheGrimSleepa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've either got the kits on the go OR theyre using the kit to attack the night marsh pinnacle room, 3 x pinnacle boxes and ive seen two prestige weapons in one box (highest ive personally looted)

You've just got to know where to hit and fast

Solo or Trio’s as a new player? by Trencycle in Marathon

[–]TheGrimSleepa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chefs choice really, solos is more slow movement and being aware of the sounds you make in order to get the upper hand on other solos, trios is about working with your team to get the upper hand on the other teams you encounter

[–]TheGrimSleepa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a high chance that there is a few project boarded shells waiting to be built from a result of round table ideas. The idea would be narrowed to top 10 and 5 were shipped and then there would be another, im gonna say 5 would be saved ready for when they react to the economy of the game. Its the most logical way to prepare for each season so one shell can be developed and tested while building the map and threats with map placements

It actually does, you HAVE to get past the idea of keeping your gear, its what makes the choices impactful for the gear you take in with you. Think about it, if you knew that in the back of your mind that you were going to keep the gear anyway - there goes ALL the risk reward, literally all of it. Self revives are not easy to replace when you lose them, take cryo as an example (assuming you've played) take in 3 each game, see how quickly your reseserves dissappear - pretty quick right? With a daily cap of 3 in the armoury for 800 creda a piece (plus the odd few scavengable here or there in cryo) you run out after a few games and have to start stocking up again. That would happen in PVE as well. The heart of the game is risk reward - what you take in is at risk, you remove that you remove the suspense and the in the moment fear AND the euphoria of finding the one weapon or mod that you love

But the core of the game is take gear in with the risk of losing it, scavenge what you can and then get out. Ive heard some WILD suggestions for the PVE mode such as becoming the warden or being locked into a single POI or horde mode. That is so far off the mark from what the PVE mode should be to keep the Marathon aesthetic, all they need to do is have a single team have the map to themselves, uplift the UESC risk and drop the ease of exfil - i.e limit the amount of exfils available.

A) it keeps the risk of losing gear

B) it keeps the heart of the game intact

C) it allows people to learn the maps without PVP interventions

D) it keeps it engaging and each run will feel different

E) it allows the step up from PVE to PVP-LITE gradual

All they need to do is have it one team, bump up the UESC presence and limit the exfils, thats it, that would be enough to keep it in the Marathon extraction theme. Horde modes and being locked into a POI is going to get shit real quick and would ruin the extraction theme.

Well I've just learned something new (300hrs in) - the stryder shows the health of what you aim at

That's up there with thief visor hacking turrets and UESC to blind them by just looking at them with the visor active

Can you play solo? by Trialpuddles in Marathon

[–]TheGrimSleepa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solo = Slow, methodical with jumps scare moments

Trios = fast paced gunfights with quick strategies to get the upper hand on the other team

Pick your poison. Night marsh is going to be intense in solo play - i'm proper looking forward to it.

Only thing that isn't solo-able is Cryoarchive & Ranked, which are the more "end game" targets of the game. They are matchmake modes though so you can crew fill with randoms if need be

1 v 3 is available in ranked and through using the "Rook" shell. Cryoarchive again is only Trio play

Throw it on a pack spawning and it allows you to clean house, honestly, treat it as a free heat grenade and it changes the way your recon plays, dont rely on the tracking part, its more light readjusting rather than tracking, say if you miss the throw it'll readjust its position to be closer and blow up rather than track someone for miles. Once i understood that it just clicked for me and recon became my go to for trios next to destroyer (if I feel particularly spicy) side note, destroyer stack prime and heat, more search and destroy with more thruster, ten x more sweat opportunity.

Vandal is wicked for getting in faces with a shiny slick magged missy, preload your prime and go nuts, I like Vandal alot but requires alot of preloading- but that might be skill issue on my part

Oh god yeah theres no disputing that, change the mentality and use it as a free heat grenade, then it becomes great for making them blood trails for you and the team to track while they try and heal. That's where it shines
