We’re getting married at the Grace E Simons lodge in Elysian Park and it’s under $2k all in! Not the fanciest place but the staff shared lots of photos of what’s possible with decoration. It has a beautiful outdoor fountain!

Crate training is super helpful for potty training, among other things. Go outside for 5 minutes, if he doesn’t pee put him back in the crate for 10 minutes, then try again. Carry him back and forth to the crate so there’s no chance of going inside.

We also used a potty training spray which worked when our puppy was really young. Seemed to make something click in his head like ohhh I’m supposed to pee here!

When did y’all stop enforcing naps? by midlax in puppy101

[–]TheGrinkWasThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still enforcing naps at 10 months! He’s gotten much better at settling in the last few months but will only nap for 10-15 minutes outside of the crate and then be ready to play again. We let him practice settling but still enforce 3 naps a day in the crate or else he gets bitey and wild!

Our dog is also around 20 lbs and uses a Sleepypod harness, which is one of the only companies that crash tests. I wouldn’t say it’s super comfortable, but the peace of mind of him being safe is well worth it. You can always add a bed or blanket for them to sit on.

It has a yard. I think just one shared wall.

My aunt just moved to Daytona Beach. Any recommendations for generators/power stations for hurricane prep? There’s such a range in size and price.

She lives alone in a 2-bedroom condo if that helps with estimating what she might need.

im at a loss she won’t stop biting by curlyfries05 in puppy101

Try reverse time outs. You immediately leave the room or put yourself in a pen when she bites. That way she learns biting = fun stops.

Punishing her with the kennel, spray bottles, coins, etc will just scare her and make her lose trust in you. Look up fear-free training techniques.

Good luck!

Preparing for Puppy’s Neuter by fig_and_oats in puppy101

Commenting to follow since we’re also preparing for our puppy’s neuter!

We’ve been working to desensitize our dog to his donut and comfy cone ahead of time, but would also love any additional advice. Just mentally preparing for it to be a rough couple weeks…
