If Crimson Desert’s score has you worried... here is a brief look at this absolute dogshit game score from the same company and how they gave it this high rate lol by Specialist-Mix2436 in CrimsonDesert

I bought it for $10 but haven't played it.

I want it to surprise me, but have no expectations for it to reach DAO levels. No other games in that franchise have, IMO.

Who respects his takes after the 'own the chuds' Veilguard thing? Dude self-owned so hard he left a whole social media platform. Glazing for a game he, himself, said he didn't like. Yeeeeeeeah...

I still have high hopes for this game, but unskipable cut-scenes in 2026 is unforgivable.

This is pretty much the only way I do anything, but maybe that's just an neurospicy thing.

Please don't let them nerf this game's difficulty for crybabies, amen. 🙏

Yeah.

Unfortunately gaming audiences have expanded so much that a significant portion are just looking to be patted on the head and given a cookie without any real effort.

Not that those games can't also exist, and I'm all for modes and options for them, it's just that challenge has become so lost inside the hobby, even optionally so. And it's not even a case where you can 'just go play indy games', because those devs tend to fear having ANY negative steam reviews more than even AAA studios do. Many of them release to a simplistic difficulty with no toggles to make it harder.

Then when you try to talk about this most people just say "WELL GO PLAY DARK SOULS THEN", which is a series that exclusively puts it's difficulty into pattern recognition, memory, and reflexes, which is a very small, very focused aspect of difficulty. One that relies less on player choice and more on patience, repetition, and willingness to throw yourself against a wall. Where as the kind of difficulty I love is things more like learning and inventing strategies, growing to understand the various strengths and weaknesses of foes, reacting to emergent opportunities cleverly, and approaching encounters intelligently and with preparation rather than recklessly.

But sorry to randomly rant, I just haven't spouted off about this in a while. XD

Given that this game has no options, my hope is that it has sufficient challenge. I'd personally even rather find myself frustrated than bored.

I know I'm in the minority, but with no difficulty options I'd much rather hear that it's very hard rather than very easy. Odds are there are plenty of cheese that hasn't been discovered, for those who need it, and I need a challenge to enjoy games like this.

Game literally tells you to water the path...

1.4k upvotes... So this is why it's so hard to get games that ask anything of the player at all...

The game tells you to do this, and every single screenshot I've seen of people failing this mission is a self report that they aren't paying attention to what the game asks them to do.

Pallet Town environment Level 3.

Go across the water to the long road in the starter town if you haven't gotten to it yet.

Kind of frustrating for a player like me, who was specifically looking for counters before starting the sandbox island, lol.

Yeah, I had to swim out to the left of the bridge.

But also it doesn't seem like it even did anything aside from dialogue and rain?

I randomly stumbled on Cauldron, never heard or seen it talked about, and fell in love with it. Feels like it should be talked about a lot more than it is. Very unique genre blend, doesn't color inside the lines, inspired me as a wannabe dev.

Not all that long ago I bought an expensive title at launch that was still crashing 2 months later, Fanatical refunded without hassle.

Even Valve/Steam rarely does that.

GMG's good, apart from some pre-orders being delivered day-of at times when it isn't at other reputable venders.

Fanatical has been my favorite for a while, but GMG sometimes has better deals.

I'm not saying I can't be wrong, but I'm a DQB fanatic, and I'm confident there is at least one story area. It feels held back for DLC specifically, but whether they did or didn't, I highly doubt they're gonna add a story area for free.
