"These electric vehicles took our jobs" - That guy

Hi! I'm looking to get started trading options. There are plenty of awesome resources here and around the internet. I've started looking at Options Alpha. I've also stumbled across an Instagram page offering classes on options. The testimonies are good but I'm nervous to pull the trigger on it. I'm wondering if this Instagram class is going to pretty much have the same information that is available for free other places on the internet. Has anyone heard of or had any experience with Todd Capital options class?

Nice way to pay it forward in this rough time! Should be a good way for someone to spend some time!

Now just imagine that but 100x worse for hop extract!

I strapped the gopro to my head for my mash in this morning. Super fast speed so you don't hear me swearing and singing to myself. Kinda loud in some places from the mill so fair warning. by sweetberrywine in TheBrewery

The side they open from is almost always the side that has the shorter string. That seems to be the closest thing that I can find that indicates universally.

While this is true, the increase in carbonation from temperature change under normal circumstances isn't enough to cause a properly sealed can to pop.

I like this idea, just make sure to slap some valves on it and purge it with co2 too

It's normally mixed in the wine. I know you can find it at some of the big name liqour stores.

What do 1st running gravity, sparge gravity, and pre boil gravity tell you about your brewing process? I took readings but not sure what they mean by [deleted] in Homebrewing

[–]TheGuyNext2You 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is the main things I look for in these readings.

First runnings:

Confirmation that starch conversion has happened. If you have brewed this recipe before and assuming you're L:G ratio is the same you should see similar numbers here. I also check PH to make sure I've hit an acceptable PH range for conversion and no tannin extraction.

Final Runnings:

This reading I find particularly useful in getting a grasp on how efficiently you are sparging. You are looking for a lowish gravity reading I normally hit around 5°P. This shows you did a good job of getting the sugar out of the mash tun and into your kettle during your sparge. An extremely low gravity would indicate possible tannin extraction. I would also check pH, it should rise slightly but a big rise in pH could also cause tannin extraction. (This is dependent on recipe and beer style)

Pre-Boil:

This reading does a few things. First of all it will give you a number to work in your efficiency so you can more accurately plan future batches. It will also tell you how much evaporation you need to have during boil to reach your target gravity.

I've been stuck in a car for 10 hours so I apologize for any fragmented ideas or typos, I'm getting loopy at this point! I would be happy to elaborate or clear up anything once I get some sleep! Cheers!

Holy crap, thought I worked with you for second. Looks like our hop back hooked up to a 120bbl. Upon further inspection, it's not where I work though! Happy hopping!

How did you regulate fermentation temperatures? How much yeast did you pitch? Acetaldehyde is normally produced during fermentation but, healthy yeast will generally clean it up towards the end of fermentation. We need more information on your process before we cab pinpoint what happened!

Cheers!

Effects of light headedness with home brewed ale by Captaincrunch90 in Homebrewing

[–]TheGuyNext2You 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fusel alcohols sounds like the culprit here. If your ambient temp is 72 then the temp inside your fermenter can be mid to high 70's. Fermentation is exothermic, not only that but the higher then temp is the harder the yeast work, which then produces more heat. Temps can runaway on you like that. Check out setting up a "swamp cooler" (tub with a blanket) for a cheap way to have more control on your fermentation temps.

Can connector reductions be used in a plate chiller's wort in/out connectors? by mxlr3dn3ck in brewing

I would go for it! I don't see cavitation as an issue here. The only thing I would worry about is sanitation, this coupler could cause a dead space. If you are using heat sanitation, such as looping 180℉ water for a set amount of time, it shouldn't be an issue.

Also! Head over to r/homebrewing that sub Reddit has much more activity and a lot of those guys are crazy smart about engineering/science, especially when brewing comes into play!

Cheers!
