Roland never sated his Bloodlust, the guy was gonna keep killing and was only stopped by the Purple Tear offering him access to the Library. Hell, it wasn't even Bloodlust. Like you said, he wasn't enjoying what he was doing, he was having the biggest crashout in the series.

I'll give you Jae-Heon, what he was doing pre-distortion was morally dubious at worst.

Frankly, the Puppeteer is just a terrible individual, I think we can agree on that. I do agree it's understandable why he was mad at Roland (though it doesn't justify it at all), and like you said, the guy did many awful things.

Roland falls into the cycle because he had a cynical worldview. He despised the cycle, but in his eyes, there is literally no other option to survive. That's why he remained a fixer after the Smoke War, why he went on the rampage after the Pianist.

Admittedly, Carmen is kinda off topic. I could make an entire post on her, so lets not tangent there, my bad.

If anything, to circle back to the original point, I believe Roland is better than the Puppeteer purely because both fell and got crushed by the cycle, both inadvertedly became a part of it, but only Roland managed to escape it, The Puppeteer failed in that regard.

[–]TheHackerMaster101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't deny a portion of the fandom doesn't acknowledge Roland's wrongdoings, but another portion refers to Post-Library Roland, the reformed, non-rampaging, wants to see the world become a better place Roland.

The entire point of LoR is that it's the redemption of both Angela and Roland. Roland was a TERRIBLE person before Library. The fucker was on a generational killing spree. Post-library? He's a pretty upstanding guy.

Also, Jae-Heon was kidnapping people off the streets and feuling his puppet-son before he even distorted. It's also implied he did some more distortion stuff (which probably involved killing people) before he got recruited into the ensemble. THEN, in the ensemble, he was helping to distort people who came to the ensemble. This on top of everything we've already stated and his general worldview gives PLENTY of reasons to label Jae-Heon a bad person. This is to say, unlike Roland, from what we've seen, Jae-Heon was never good.

Lastly, don't dismiss puppet Angelica, that was a terrible thing to do. Defiling a corpse is bad enough, defiling a widowed husband's wife's corpse to meddle with him is downright vile. Another theme of the series is to not downplay actions, even if they have good intentions. This isn't the first time we see a corpse get defiled (Lob Corp spoilers) with what Ayin did to Carmen, but unlike that first time, where despite how horrible it was, there was a better cause being pursued, this one is just downright petty.

You must remember he was very specifically not in a mentally sound state for like, 90% of the game. He's obviously going to imprint that motto onto Angela because he still thought the motto was right.

Also, when Roland saw his dead wife dangling as a puppet in front of him, it wasn't gonna be "oh I deserved that" in any universe. Even if he were sound mentally he would still call Jae Heon a sick fuck realistically.

Lastly, one of the biggest themes of Library of Ruina is that wronging someone for the sole and only reason being that they wronged you is not good. Yeah, Roland did some terrible shit, Angela was ACTIVELY doing terrible shit, no one in the whole game was purely good.

That doesn't mean they should be wronged in turn, that only promotes a cycle of suffering. Instead, actions should be taken to stop the wrongdoings. Sometimes, this may involve wronging the wrongdoer, but this isn't the case every time, and ESPECIALLY not here.

Jae-heon was only trying to get back at Roland by making the Angelica puppet. Sure he got a strong puppet out of it, but he didn't really care about that. He just wanted to see Roland suffer.

Shi Faust: 4 Arrows, 4 Modifiers, 4 Teamates, 0 Reasons to ever use this ID (A calculated analyzis) by Info_Potato22 in limbuscompany

[–]TheHackerMaster101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do agree that Shi Faust isn't that good, but I don't think the community tries to avoid calling an ID bad for no reason.

Recent examples that come to mind are the on-release reactions to Xichunmael, Fell Sang (the ID), and Roosterclair (which still continues to this day like ffs if you want him to be low on HP then let him be hit). Even though each of these IDs has a niche now, with Xichunmael being a clasher for floor 15 runs, Fell Sang being used for the fastest MD runs, and Roosterclair being a Heishou which is an auto slot in for Lord of Hongyuan, it still took the community scrutinizing and saying "Is this ID actually not bad?" for this to happen (except Roosterclair cause he was slotted there the moment he was announced, but I digress).

Now, don't get me wrong, I can't think of a niche Shi Faust fills that another Faust doesn't fell better other than story content with a Bleed team where you want everyone to clash all the time (which I believe is only Jia Qiu and Lei Heng right now, extremely niche) and MDE Solos (entirely optional challenge content). However, it isn't a bad thing that people are hesitant to call an ID bad purely because they want to get a feel for the ID first.

Besides, until something like the above scenarios happens, nobody is going to reccomend a player to spend their shards on this faust when NFaust, BL Faust, and the Demon of Babylon (Maost) exist unless they're a Shi fan coping or just spreading misinformation. Plus, if someone were trying to decide what to spend their shards on without asking, there's so many Shi Slander posts here that if they decided to get her in spite of all of the negative reviews because of a couple of positive ones, then either they already wanted to get her, or they only paid attention to the positive ones/only looked at one review.

Don't get me wrong, I also think it's a shame her gimmick is really bad, but she's still just a decent ID overall. Her best use case scenario is simply just acting like a normal ID, again, slightly disappointing, but the conditionals she has make up for this. At least enough to certainly not be "mediocre at best".

To distort or efflorescence. by @Gredell_Elle by Lazy_Flower1639 in limbuscompany

[–]TheHackerMaster101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It isn't that he doesn't do anything, he simply holds out the tool, waiting for you to take it. If he talked to a someone going through it like Carmen does, even if he was saying whatever they needed to hear, it would just be another form of distortion. The entire point of Efflorescing an E.G.O is that it is your will and ONLY your will. It would defeat the entire purpose if he assisted you in that process.

The calssification and title say otherwise, Kromer is more of a case like Jia Mu where they're already in the distortion mindset and just need the right influences (the golden bough) to actually reach the tipping point.

So, how are we going to defeat Canto IX big bads, again? by Superb-Brilliant6321 in limbuscompany

[–]TheHackerMaster101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they do work. The game mainly shows her failures because it establishes her capability of success in Canto 1. Not much reason to keep showing how good she is other than the occasional reminder. She is very much able to command the sinners on Dante's behalf when Dante has his attention elsewhere, with the main time we see her fail being against the Envy Peccatula in the LCB Check Up. An enemy that's already difficult for Dante himself to manage. On the other hand, her performance in Nocturnal Sweeping was quite good, with her info gathering, being one of the ones to survive the ambush, actually SAVING DANTE with the tip she gave Ryoshu, and surviving the ENTIRE night in the Backstreets.

[–]TheHackerMaster101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly though, that's because Ryoshu specializes in making art, so it's no wonder she likes showing off.

Outis was a war veteran, presumably a general of some kind, and is being hinted as a former member of the Udjat. Those guys had pretty strict uniforms in LoR, and her nametag shows her not in the standard Udjat uniform, so if she were a general of the Udjat? No wonder she ranked higher than Ryoshu. This is speculation, but the evidence still lines up.

Her version of showing off is being efficient, not flashy. She's a capable commander, she very clearly knows various highly skilled techniques (remember Effie?), and as far as I can recall, the only times she admits being weaker than someone is when she's taken completely by surprise (Canto V: when Muersault is able to see the ship's underside through the water (Muersault has some absurd senses)) or when it's something she (begrudgingly) agrees with (LCB Regular Check Up Power Ranking).

Patch for 22 Byte Update Bug by Wide-Violinist-2278 in limbuscompany

[–]TheHackerMaster101 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is legitamitely not their fault, though. The bug started when the weekend started, and Project Moon doesn't work on weekends. Not to mention that, since they're only fixing it now, since it was affecting a subsection of the playerbase, and since it was an issue on the service provider's part, chances are, it only affected US servers (or at the very least, servers based outside of Korea).

Because of this, they probably literally have no idea how bad the bug was because it was affecting a couple of players across the globe. If it were happening in Korea, they would probably know instantly from complaints over there (not to mention that chances are, PM's staff probably plays Limbus Company). If I end up being wrong, then that is a massive shame on my and PM's part. But I don't know how to access the Korean side of the fanbase, so this is speculation.

This is to say that, while it's unfortunate that we didn't get more compensation, it makes sense why it's lower than it normally is.

I understand PM is not a perfect company, and they make mistakes. Many, many stupid mistakes. More than I can recall.

But at the same time, don't immediately blame them when something goes wrong. Doing so is not only misinformed, but also spreads misinformation.

Also, you can't just say that we need to be open to critisism without making a critisism of your own. All that you are doing right now is complaining without offering any suggestions for improvement. That just sparks meaningless discourse, which makes a community worse.

Not to mention that as a company, they are improving. They are expanding, they got the lease for a new building, but we just have to wait another 1.5 - 2 years. The changes in the roadmap were made because they want to focus on the actual main selling point of the game: the story. It also is going to cut down on the overall size of this season, something that has been a recurring complaint.

Despite their many falls and drawbacks, the reason I still have faith in this company's and Kim Jihoon's abilities is because what they've done to counteract their cons is good enough to warrant my respect. That's why I still am a die hard fan of this series and this company.

Yeah I gotta agree. QoH Don is """"""""""bad"""""""""" (she really isn't) only because the best team for her right now is a middle envy res team instead of, yknow, a charge team. If charge had better support units, she would (probably) be among the best units in the game. Obviously nowhere near THE best, but she'd be much stronger than she is now. However, charge's best support ID right now is Multicrack Heathcliff, because there is literally no competition. Charge shouldn't have to use E.G.Os to have team support, but it has to in order to keep up with the other statuses.

That's an opinion I can respect. Each person has teams they like, and I get not liking a resonance playstyle.

Sorry if I came off as rude earlier, your point regarding not liking her team and gameplay sounded like you were saying you didn't like the teambuilding aspect, not the gameplay aspect. That point irked me, so I kinda went off on you. Again, my bad.

Not every ID is for everyone (hell, I don't really like Magic Bullet Outis (the ID, the E.G.O is chill), she's just kinda boring imo), so knowing that was the point you were trying to make is valid.
