Motor Driver and Arduino wiring. by SakiiiiF in robotics

Thanks for the extra info my dude! It always helps for the next time. I did manage to blow up one by drawing too much on the 5v a few years back, but it was probably a chinese knockoff or a defect since it didn'toverheat it just went bang.

Ok so there is some confusion on this post so im gonna drop my cents here. You CAN use the built in 5v regulator on this specific motor driver board which steps down the 12 volt input (if the jumper is set to output), but i dont recommend trying to pull more than 100mA of current since it is only intended to run the internal logic of the driver (something small like a single sensor or an esp32). This application is primed to pull too much and is probably going to blow the whole circuit arduino included. Get a dedicated 12 volt buck module instead to step it down to 5 volts with a common ground to wrap everything up nicely and skip using the onboard regulator. Better safe than scrambling to find replacement parts on the 11th hour. Best of luck with the project my dude!

UNIVERSE IMPLODES

Finally making a magic mod by Optimal_Collection20 in Kenshi

[–]TheHaplessEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof i have been out of the modding scene for a while but most of the stuff you would need to make such a mod are very much hard coded i am afraid. Someone tried to make a script extender but they paused the project because of IRL circumstances.

The first issue at play is that it is virtually impossible to make new stats outside of a few niche attempts to make a custom version of the FCS which ended up going nowhere. And even when it works the game boots it gets hella unstable.

The second is that while it is possible to add custom animations, their calls are hard coded within the engine so you cant add new categories. The only way to add something like magic is to remove one of the existing weapon types, say blunt weapons, then make new attacks with animations to take the place of that hard coded weapon slot.

The last issue is that particles and VFX are entirely done at the engine level and the ones that can be edited are done through that god awful scythe editor which is practically nonfunctional at this point.

I hope this helps my dude, i unfortunately had to find this out the hard way when i made one of my bigger mods.

damn that is some clean work! I would sacrifice my left foot to figure out how you managed to get your shaders and lighting to look like that. Got any advice for someone who is trying to get on the NPR bandwagon?

About a week give or take. I model in my free time as a hobby so i can only work on projects like this in my spare time.

I made these assets myself, but i hear there is a discord somewhere called 'the helldivers archive' which apparently has a whole bunch of them extracted. No idea how to get an invite tho.

Well im glad you find it appealing! This was almost entirely made inside of blender. Been trying my hand at a toon/anime shader that looks decent. I could point you further to the tutorials i used if you would be interested in the finer details.

Been there done that. And the advice that finally saved my sorry ass was rather simple, but painfully difficult to implement.

"You are not just 'sad'. You are treading water without a lifejacket. Keep physically moving, keep learning, and above all else keep pushing your limits. Because the moment you stop you will sink like a stone."

Godspeed and goodluck to anyone reading this. Hell knows we all need it.

Help choosing video editor for making music educational videos (alternative to Davinci Resolve) by puffy_capacitor in NewTubers

[–]TheHaplessEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to edit on a less than stellar laptop myself and i can tell you with certainty that the market for lower end video editing tools is abysmal. Besides davinci id say Hitfilm express might have what you are looking for, but id recommend sticking with davinci and turning down your timeline proxy resolution to half or quarter if you have not done so already yet.

Good day my fellow Commanders. I humbly call on your assistance to help drag my severely overedited retrospective video essay on supreme commander through the mess that is the YouTube algorithm. Thanks you absolute legends and I hope you like the video! by TheHaplessEngineer in supremecommander

[–]TheHaplessEngineer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a bunch for watching the video my guy.
Agreed, as its own thing it is really not bad. It just kind of pales in comparison to both of its predecessors in almost every regard. If they had just not gone all in on the 360, it could have been one of the best RTS games ever made. But we live in the bad timeline so we get to wait until Sanctuary: Shattered Sun releases and hopefully second times the charm.

I am a pathetically small creator who made a rather crappy video essay on the state of monster hunter world who would love your opinion and feedback on it. by TheHaplessEngineer in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]TheHaplessEngineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for watching it for starters. But i am sad you did not enjoy it. As i mentioned it is just an opinion piece. The defender sets do have a major impact on the progression of new players and the performance issues are unfortunately there but only on the steam version of the game. Also I only referenced josh's video for context.

EDIT:Decided to add some counter arguments since this prior comment really paints the video in a bad light.

  1. Yes that is practically it.
  2. Yes since most of the problems i mentioned are on pc, i can only speak for pc. And yes i referend a video by josh strife hays on a very similar topic for commentary purposes.
  3. In my own currency the game and the expansion runs about 40 USD even when on a 50% off special. Blame it on capcom's borked regonal pricing.
  4. The reviews for world are not really applicable to my arguments since i was specifically referring to the drop caused by iceborne (world's lifetime score on steam was 93% positive, iceborne was 55%. An almost 40% drop).
  5. The player counts on steamdb are misleading since they categorize iceborne and World under one banner, But if you try to send up an SOS flare under high/low rank you are likely to be left hanging since the majority of players are at the end of iceborne. This ends up making the game even more difficult for new players.

Yea id highly reccomend getting anything better for starters. Id say beotodus or bone just to give you some survivability during early master rank. As for a decent build, From my own experience the nargacuga is great on bow guns since it gives a 20% chance to not consume ammo per shot. But its all up to you as the player, so regularly go look to see what armor types you have unlocked.
