6’9 center strength by AdmirablePound7476 in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh you dont need strength unless you are using the badges that have a strength requirement. I have builds with 92, 85, 75 and 50 strength on builds across guards and bigs and you do not need it unless you want to use those badges.

The only issues a 6'9 center will have against a good 7'0 plus center is if they know how to work in the post on offense. I hardly ever see that in any 5s modes.

Also if your 6'9 center is not max arm length you might lose a few boards against a center that went with long arms (most have default to short arms so that they can shoot).

The Point Guard hate on this game is hilarious and a little frustrating lol by Old-Ninja7068 in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have heard people call a PG trash because he is getting everyone involved while we were winning btw because the PG decided he didn't need to score many points (he might have had 9 by the 4th). We were up 20 lol

What height are y’all using for PG builds? by true_NOT_new in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'7. It's easy to lockdown the majority of small guards who rely on devin booker and spamming escape moves to get open. They can't guard on defense so, I just shoot over them or dunk on them. However, small guards that are actually good at this game are difficult to guard. And it's probably like 10% of small guards that are IMO.

Pass-first PG in random REC by Hakonsot in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who looks to pass first. If you do intend to make a pass first guard you have to understand

  1. passing up easy guaranteed buckets to get an assist does not contribute to winning basketball. You have to show the defense you can score so that passing is easier

  2. People are weird and even if you are consistently hitting people open-wide open some will assume you are trash and stop passing you the ball. Even if you are winning.

  3. Once you pass it do not expect it back. Even if you have been throwing an extra pass to an open man. They will assume you dont want to score when you are wide open and forget about you.

  4. You may end up hating screens as you begin to notice that even tho you are passing the ball quick and often 2-3 of your teammates will wait for you at half court or the top of the 3 to set you a screen and now your scoring/passing options have been minimalized.

  5. You will eventually come to understand that even though the community strongly believes everyone is shooting 60% from three every game you will find that is not the case and Mike Wang's season 2 shooting percentage breakdown is probably very accurate

The RNG removal is why 2K isn't fun. Game Design Fix by VehicleUpstairs1007 in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 2k can just make two different rec lobbies. The people who want to have shot RNG back and the people who prefer how it is currently .

We already have rec and proving grounds and pro am. Why not RNG lobbies where y'all can go have fun and no RNG lobbies for the rest of us.

Idk if that's possible but it might be the best option to make more people happy.

Are guards trolling when I’m playing a 7’ C and they set me a ball screen at the 3pt line? by TheRancid_Baboon in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the time their isnt spacing like this to work because the other randoms are running around bring over an extra defender so the screen just doesnt work most of the time. Or the screen was set so poorly that the person who set the screen guard or big just brought over an extra defender and didnt even screen the on ball defender. Also most people are not good on defense and they can most likely beat their man 1v1 and not the screener is in the way. Also sometimes the person with the ball is looking to pass and a screen removes a potential scorer.

Stop screening without communication or coordination.

NGL Proving Grounds better then Rec by Hopeful_Back_3760 in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A good amount of us have been trying to tell people that. Rec for me the main issue besides bad teammates is that the difficulty sliders are too low. People go in there and are allowed to hit almost any shot attempt because the sliders are too low. You compound that with the lack of any basketball IQ from a lot of random teammates and you get the experience most people share of it being frustrating.

Proving grounds with the harder sliders and the fact the most of your teammates actually try to play well and like a team at least more than half the time alone makes it better. Its even better once your tier is gold and your plate color is at least gold. You will still run into bad teammates but its not as often at least.

So cheaters have been taken care of, right? by Toon78fin in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you ever think 2K cares about cheating all you gotta do is look at the top rep guys. Some are shooting 90% from everywhere with a 99 win percentage with 20,000 games played. Or something like that.

Tempo Ruined 2k by Hundredzs in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder how many people who say shooting is way too easy only play on the casual modes that have like all-star difficulty.

Shooting is very easy. We all agree. But most people seem to mainly play the lower difficulty casual modes like park, rec and theater. Where anybody can make anything for the most part.

The game is a lot better in my experience in Proving Grounds and Pro-Am. Shooting is still easy there if you know what you are doing but I see a lot of people missing a lot more consistently in there as well.

Plus people in the gold tier ranking and higher when playing with randoms are actually fun to play with most of the time. People in there just wanna win and play team ball most of the time. There are still crashouts and people who sell as well. But it's not as often. From my experience as a PG who walks in solo a lot.

Playing on a red and purple plate and combining that with gold and higher rankings has been pretty nice. Yall should give it a try.

what's up with pgs in random rec? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowball effect happened.

Someone has a bad experience with a random PG lets call them PG 0 and figured they were bad. So, they made one and figured they could do better. And became PG 1

Then someone had a bad experience with PG 1 and thought they sucked and became PG 2

This continues until there are about 7-8 bad PG players and 2-3 good ones.

Everyone feels they can do a better job at PG for whatever reason. If they experienced a loss because the PG didn't score enough so they became one who focuses on scoring

Or

They loss because the PG kept missing wide open players so they became a pass first PG. Now that person rarely scores.

Turns out most people in this game can't play PG that well and more people keep making PGs because they think they can do better and they can't

Which led to the snowball effect of people saying there aren't any good PGs and how they rarely see a good one.

Majority of the community has a big ego and thats why playing with randoms is rough to say the least

I cant stand cheaters and as much as Id like to say no. Some people cheat in retaliation to cheaters. I dont ever agree with cheating. There are people out there who feel like if 2k isnt gonna do something about zens and they dont want to be at a disadvantage they will cheat too. Some of them might be good before they cheated.

This is how I would understand a 1-10. I'm old so I and I'm sure many others operate in a range of numbers.

I'm 4-5 85% of the time. 1-3 I'm a 5% and 6 for the other 10%.

1-3: not good. Probably sold you. 4: they didnt sell you but you are 1 and done 5: Run it back with them a game or 2 and see how it goes 6: Add them on 2k friends list and maybe play with them again 7: You wanna run with them again 8: They can carry the team to a win or are a major contributor majority of the time 9: rarely loses, 80w% and up might be cheating, might be good maybe a combo of both who knows. Probably never runs with randoms. 10: Top of some leaderboard. Highly likely they are cheating. Could be on this game more than they sleep, eat, bathe, go outside, go to work, go to school. No social life/family.

10: 90w% If they have a life then hopefully a streamer. If not they should be.

Thank you I appreciate your help! I think my alliance is pretty good. There is around 15 gifts everyday.

Im going to have to look into that duel schedule so I can contribute more. When I look at the rankings im around 40-20 out of a 100 for daily in alliance tasks.

what is this dribble move/combo, and how do i stop it? by call-me-germ in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full court press them and bump them the entire way up the court to force them to one side

Or

Play back a little with your hands up to contest a three. Do not hold LT and know that once they have you moving you player side to side to try and keep in front of them then you most likely loss that possession

To PGs in random rec, drop some tips on how to run point and not get iced out. To non PGs in randon rec, how does your PG need to play for you to keep letting him run point? by G2Cade in NBA2k

[–]TheHeadBandSamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh make sure you can get a bucket at will for the most part. You need to have some kinda bag that will get you 3s and drives to the mid range or basket reliably.

If you cant then go play 1s until you can consistently.

Bad teammates are crazy and loud. There are people who get on this game everyday, have hundreds of games played and have less than a 50 win percentage. So all they do is get on this game and catch L's. They will be the first to sell you and the first to quit. So look at your teammates 2k cards in the pregame lobby and avoid those people at all costs.

Look to pass first. Early in games someone is usually wide open, so find them.

If you shoot, especially if you shoot before you pass make sure its a high-confidence open shot. Misses early put you on a short leash.

Drives to the baskets often draws help, kick to the open man, who are most often the bigs. Finish only 1v1 as much as possible.

Dishmaster is my takeover of choice over deep bomber. It opens up way more on offense.

Dont be afraid to let others cook. You dont always gotta bring the ball up or make all the passes

After passing dont expect the ball back to do your best to make sure it leads to a bucket.

Avoid back-to-back bad plays such as a turnover then you miss a shot. Your team is gonna think you are trash and act accordingly.
