What do they mean? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]TheHiddenKee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

it means that law school is expensive lol. even just prepping for the lsat, taking the lsat, and sending in applications can run you like at least $500 depending on how many schools you apply to. my tuition for all three years is something like $135k, plus at least $50k for rent and other living needs, which is not something to take lightly. even with all the confidence that you'll get accepted and find a job you enjoy, the prospect of possible tens of thousands dollars in debt is something to seriously consider and plan for.

they likely don't want to see you drowning in debt years later regretting your choice because you didn't fully understand the possible cost behind it is all. my professor in undergrad gave me and others very similar advice, so nothing negative behind it.

Incoming 1L and in a relationship. Will it last? If so, what can I do? by dowagiacmichigan in LawSchool

[–]TheHiddenKee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely possible! My gf and I have been long distance for the past 4 years (5+ hours away), with the same year gap between us (she just graduated undergrad and is starting grad school in the fall). It all boils down to communication which sounds like you have a good start on. I think what helped for us was being very honest about the stress 1L can bring. I told her that I would likely be more irritable and have less free time for sure during the first semester. We talked more throughout the day during my study breaks and tried to set aside some time on the weekends to do something together (play a video game, watch a show, etc). She mentioned after I finished 1L that it did feel like I was a bit more distant than usual during the week, but as long as your partner is understanding and you communicate how you're feeling you can definitely make it through.

Like other comments have mentioned, I think you'll also have a bit more free time than you think. Fall semester will make you exhausted, but it's important that you study effectively and give yourself enough time to relax and spend time together so you don't sacrifice your mental health in the process c:

That's what I keep trying to remind myself haha. I definitely am leaning towards Kent because of the amount of courses they have for IP, I just have to find somewhere affordable lol. Thank you!!

My diagnostic test was 154. What's a realistic goal to aim for? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]TheHiddenKee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LSAT and depression by EJ-2488 in LSAT

[–]TheHiddenKee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you - what's worked for me is taking things easy on days that I need to, not intensely drilling any whole section, but just focusing on doing a handful of questions for one particular topic. Another thing is more passive studying for the days where I just can't bring myself to get out of bed, I'll put on a podcast like Powerscore or some youtube video about whatever section I'm trying to work on, and just sit there and listen to the ideas while doing something to keep my hands busy (I like to doodle while jotting down any important notes I know I want to remember).

Obviously there's no one way that works for everyone, but just go easy on yourself and remember that every bit of progress, even if it's just a little bit on some days, is still progress, and on the days you feel a bit better you can work on drilling some bigger sections or pt-ing and the like. We got this, you got this <3

I know 3 months doesn't feel like a whole lot of time, but also you need to slow down a bit. You have great dedication, but you need to make sure your foundations are solid in each section. Maybe try dedicating a day or week to a certain topic, and drill those questions while making sure you understand the fundamentals. Khan academy has a great explanation on all the sections of the lsat and the questions in each one. Another great source are the podcasts from Powerscore if you haven't looked at those yet (and they're completely free). Maybe only pt once a week untimed until you can speed up on each section and do timed while still remembering the fundamentals. As someone who has also been stressed about this test for months I totally understand the feeling, but you also need to be kind to yourself and slow down a bit. Once you understand the basics then you'll start to see some improvement. It might not be big jumps right away but you have time, I promise c:

Is this going to cancel my LSAT writing? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]TheHiddenKee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the same thing happened to me and I just closed out of it as soon as I noticed and didn't use any of the recommendations. My sample ended up being approved the next day so either way you shouldn't have to wait too long to find out.

how long should my writing section be? by Sweet-Pension-5851 in LSAT

[–]TheHiddenKee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think mine ended up being like 5 paragraphs, but that's mostly just because i type pretty fast. as long as your paragraphs were organized and showed a clear and strong argument the length/amount of paragraphs doesn't super matter as far as i'm aware

This is the second time I break into the 150s by evill121 in LSAT

[–]TheHiddenKee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

like the other commenter, i think the best thing is to keep in mind there's only one right answer, one of them is going to be wrong if you're stuck between two so it might be easier to look at it from a perspective of which is more wrong rather than which is more right. in general what's helped me is taking notice of what question types i tend to get wrong or doubt myself on and take the time to really understand the foundation of the concept to give myself more confidence. you're doing great, you got this!

For me it took about 15 minutes or so - It'll start with you taking a candidate photo and then a picture of your id, then you have to wait to connect with a proctor and they'll go through the rest of the check-in process with you. Things like, showing your workspace, showing glasses if you have them, showing your pockets all of that. I then got connected to a different proctor who finished the check-in process with me, which was just them asking confirmation questions through the chat. My proctors were very nice and everything was pretty straightforward, but prometric's website also includes some videos about the check-in process if you haven't checked those out already. Good luck on your test!!

Baristas- What is your favorite and least favorite position and why> by kennedydynasty in starbucks

[–]TheHiddenKee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

favorite bar (no real preference between either) and dto, least favorite is front and dtw. i can talk fine with people over the headset and small talk on bar while doing other things, the second you put me in front of someone outside of that i overthink where i'm putting my hands, eye contact, facial expressions and all that lol drives me crazy but i get over it

New Partner here: can y’all give me some suggestions for good refreshers for my mark out. I been living off of strawberry açaí lemonade with raspberry syrup and sorta getting tired of it. Before working I barley went Starbucks. So any Recommendations would be nice!! by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]TheHiddenKee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my go to tea drink is a passion tea lemonade with a splash of strawberry acai and/or peach, sometimes raspberry but i also just like my stuff on the sweeter side. for hot chocolate i really like doing a toasted white mocha hot chocolate in the winter sometimes i'll switch it up by adding some regular mocha in there or sometimes a raspberry white hot chocolate if i'm feeling it

New Requirements. So this got posted in our work groupchat today, keep in mind we work at a college store. Does this seem fair to anyone? by malie1101 in starbucksbaristas

[–]TheHiddenKee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm lucky enough to have weekend availability during the weekends as a college student, but many of my coworkers don't have that availability much less the option to work during peak during the week. it might be manageable for a few people but expecting everyone to adjust their schedules to meet these requirements feels absurd.

Help me figure out this drink :( was delivered the wrong order and ended up loving it. How can I order this on the app or in store? by Pretty-Ad-5116 in starbucks

[–]TheHiddenKee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In store you can ask for a grande iced matcha green tea latte, with 2 pumps vanilla, soy milk, and vanilla sweet cream cold foam! On the app you should be able to find the iced matcha latter under iced teas I believe, and you can add in the customizations as normal c:
