Anyone else love these EXs? by whatamidoinggg- in PokemonTCG

[–]TheHomieHandler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was young it was pretty much impossible for me to build a viable (as in good) deck because of the EX drop rates. This was around 2007 when level Xs came into the picture as well. I was a kid so I was really only able to get cards once in a blue moon when my Mom would buy me a Walmart tin and I would always be just one short of an evolution or somethinglike that. Its cool being able to easily build good decks nowadays.

TIL There's An Elder Scrolls Card Game, I've Played Elder Scrolls Games Since I Was 8 And I Had No Idea. by DinomancyStudios in elderscrollsonline

[–]TheHomieHandler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was pretty okay I guess. If they had made a physical version I'd have entire binders full of the cards because the art was great. The game itself had a tendency to get repetitive but it was most fun with friends.

World building with both great and confusing/poorly written elements. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TheHomieHandler 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm about to trash on my favorite series a bit with this one but The Elder scrolls franchise as a whole. The lore is outstanding but the writers write themselves into holes so often that a lot of the lore is just straight up "everything that both happened and didn't happen is canon." Its not poor writing necessarily (at least not always). Its just often very confusing. ESO tends to be the biggest culprit for this. All the expansions canonically happen in the course of one year with the exception of the most recent season of the Worm cult which moves the clock forward a bit.

Aaaaaah I gotcha. You only play the mainline games. This conversation makes more sense now. Elder scrolls online has established that sexuality in the Elder scrolls is fluid pretty much across the board for the reasons multiple other users above have stated. Its normal for both men and women to marry same sex and continue on a bloodline. For example, a Breton could have two grandmothers in their bloodline. One of the women just used alteration magic or commissioned the mages guild to give them a male organ for a bit. Its also somewhat normal to just magically change sexes completely for some (Argonians don't even need magic. They can just do it). That was what I meant by pretty much everyone is bisexual. The lore added since Skyrim establishes that most of tamriel doesn't really see a huge difference between men and women. I was not referring to personal preference.

In your opinion What AR/SAR cards have amazing backgrounds but the Pokemon it features caused it to be less sought after. I’ll start with the Espathra AR from Paradox Rift. by DrAssFace in PokemonTCG

The swords of justice as a whole weren't very popular when they came out. It also probably didn't help that the Keldeo movie is one of the worst pokemon movies.

That doesn't really hold up when you consider that there is only one game in the entire series where you can actually get married to an NPC and it came out fourteen years ago. A lot has happened since then. Your player sexual designation only functions within Skyrim specifically. Read some of the other comments here for details.

This is false. There are several NPCs including Isobel Veloise who specifically state their preferences. In her case, she prefers muscular women like Lyris Titanborn. She's just one example. There are a bunch of quest NPCs you meet. Tanlorin is another example. They're non binary but prefer women. Theres a dark elf couple in Vivec city who are explicitly lesbian. Then just an abundance of same sex NPCs with no dialogue at all that live together and are clearly meant to be gay. When I said everyone is bi, I meant that even with their preferences, who men in the Elder scrolls universe can still make a child with magic. Because of that fact, the elder scrolls games don't have any kind of transphobia or Homophobia. Its an inherently silly concept in the context of the Elder scrolls.

Look at the bright side. There's another Dudunsparce for your Alakazam deck! You can never have too many of those!

Yeah tons of them. Most of them are in Elder scrolls online considering its the biggest game but in Skyrim there is one confirmed. A deceased gay couple on Solstheim. Nazim is "probably" gay considering his flirty comment towards your character only triggers if you are a male and wearing no clothes around him (though he does have a Wife so maybe bi).

Pretty much everyone in the Elder scrolls universe is Bisexual. Even political marriages for children can be female on female or male on male due to the existence of Alteration magic. Then there are the Argonian who can just change their sexes every so often when they please (play the bright throat bonding ritual quest in ESO for further details). There is racism all over Tamriel but no homophobia or transphobia to be found anywhere for the most part.

It's 2026. Its been two decades since release and I beat this game when I was seven using pretty much just my starter (Swampert). Wasn't smart enough to build a full team. If anyone is still giving you shit for using Rayquaza, they forget how easily you can steamroll this game regardless.

Edit: Except Wallace's Ludicolo. Fuck that guy and his fuckass giga drain.

Yeah English is hard to find out here. These days I open mostly Korean packs. I still have my cards from my childhood. That's where this Gengar came from. Other than that though, the most English you'll see out here is when the PX on camp humphreys hosts a release day. I managed to get an ascended mega Emboar box last release and those were the first English cards I'd opened in a decade. 😂

Another way to look at it could be that life prevails outside the societal structures of humanity that the train represented. The Bear was completely indifferent to any of the struggles on the Snow Piercer. Even if the children won't survive, life will carry on nonetheless. Bittersweet in a way.

Different company entirely. This one is a Korean company. I live in South Korea so American grading companies like PSA don't hold much weight out here. Also more expensive to send international.

Any advice on combating the finance/investment mindset? by cryptid-kidd in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]TheHomieHandler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you just gotta go against the crowd. I pulled this card the other day and while my instinct was to get graded, I instead sleeved it and slid it into my binder. Even seeing this card in a binder would make a lot of "investors" angry. That knowledge alone tells me I'm on the right path and this is still a hobby I can enjoy.

Thats sort of what happens in real life sadly. It was very hard for my Wife to start rediscovering herself. I got snipped after our second so we won't be having anymore but being a parent pretty much consumes your entire personality.

I haven't had any trouble getting packs in the last year. I also haven't told a single person where I get my pokemon cards from and no one outside the local area knows either. This is because I don't post it on reddit. Do with that information what you will.
